there are some things I knew from previous videos and general experience but the thing with the 2457 shape and 1334 who discarding 2 and 7 or 1 and 3 can make for the former 3 and 6 and for the latter 2 and 5 more dangerous. It makes sense when I reflect back what I discarded when I had these when I didn't need most of the things in this shapes. But never took it into account on my opponents' discards.
My main issue with discard reading is keeping track of everyone else's discards all the time and thinking about them while keeping pace with the game. But i guess speed is where practice/memorisation helps.
It's difficult to answer this question because there's no way to measure which one gives "better" results. The best pro players usually combine both digital and analog playstyles. Digital = learning about theories, analog = learning about exceptions.
tbh, I’ve heard about aida yonken before, but I didn’t take it too seriously because I didn’t think it makes statistical difference, which turns out it did. There are so many discard reading techniques that I am not sure which one to trust/emphasize on. 😢 iirc sotogawa is still effective and relatively simple for me to catch on, so I’ve mostly been using only that.

So if we’re discussing the expected value of the ‘analog’ or the ‘digital’ play style, which yields better results overall?

is the 1 3 discard only unique to 13, 79 or can it apply to every pair of numbers 2 apart?
Applies to every pair of numbers 2 apart, just make sure to distinguish if they are dealt from the inside out or from the outside in.
