I love these take apart & reel maintenance Vids !! I pretty much ordered all the tools you suggested in your description. Thanks. Do you know if the Nasci maintenance is similar to cleaning and maintaining a Stradic or Vanford ? I want to service my reel during the winter.
Thanks Air stoked some people do 👊🏽☺️ They don’t do very well lol but I enjoy making them. 🎣😊 Hey you could always give them to me when we hit the East coast for Christmas and maybe I’ll only charge you for shipping them back 😎😉🤙🏽 Hahaha no that’s awesome you should definitely do them yourself you’ll enjoy it! They’re probably very very similar. Maybe a few different washers or bearings here and there I’d imagine. I still want a Vanford so maybe I’ll get one soon and do it right out of the box, but I get to blame you when Jaime finds out I bought another reel. 😂😂😂😂🤙🏽
Thank you for the video! I followed along and i serviced my sedona :) i can now say that it's assembled back and working properly :)
Sweet! 😃🤙🏽 Glad the video helped ya! 👊🏽😊
@@WhereWeWild yeah it was pretty straight forward! The Sedona has less parts so it was easier i guess but it was a good starting point :) i can now service my reels thanks to your help
@@FishingAdventure-qm3wj Yeah this one isn’t so so bad 😊 Spinning reels are usually more complicated than baitcasters, but if you just take your time and stay organized you can pretty much handle any reel. 🤙🏽 Really happy the videos are helping ya! Thanks for watching! 🎣😊
Hi... Have you tried interchanging spools from other shimano reels? I'm curious what model fits with nasci aside from miravel
Hmmm sorry idk never tried brother 🤷🏻♂️
Can u use fiber line with this? i have the shimano nasci 2500 fc
What is fiber line? 🤔
I just ordered the Shimano SLX MGL 70hg, what rod will you recommend getting for it?
Nice man 😊🤙🏽 Just be aware it has less line capacity compared to the SLX XT for example. I know you fish from the shore mostly like me haha 😁 Great reel though I have 2. 😂 As far as the rod it just depends on the technique you want to throw on it really but for a do it all type of rod I’d just say 7’0”-7’3” Medium Heavy Fast.
From your point of view you think SLX XT will be better fishing from shore than the SLX MGL?
Also I had no idea 71hg was left handed so I had to return it for the 70 hg 😂
@@E.nature92 Ahh I’m sorry man, yeah with Shimano casting reels all the left handers always end in a 1. And the MGL 70 or 71, is technically best for shorter cast techniques like punching, pitching, flipping from a boat… but I fish with them from shore all the time and they’re fine. The MGL spools are lighter and make it easier to cast lighter baits, but with the smaller size spool on the 70 you can nearly run out of line on a super long cast, especially if you’re using heavier thicker line because you get less of it on the spool ya know. Not the biggest deal just something to be aware of. If it’s your very first baitcaster and you want it for an all around do it all type of setup and you’re fishing from the shore mostly, yeah technically I would recommend the SLX XT. Just cause it’s a great workhorse all around reel to start out with and probably the best reel on the market at that price point in my opinion. That’s a 150 size spool so you can have more line too. The MGL 70 is absolutely awesome though and you should be totally fine with that too, just wouldn’t go too too heavy with the line. 😊🤙🏽 Maybe I will make a video talking about these reels and their pros and cons. 🤔
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain 😊 I will save up to get the SLX XT. Are you making it to the lake this weekend?
@@E.nature92 No problem bro the XT is a little cheaper too! 👊🏽😊 Be careful, before you know it you’ll want all of them lol it’s so bad. 🤦🏻♂️😂 They’re all so cool in different ways! My favorite MGL reel for the price is the Curado MGL 150 cause you get the MGL spool AND the 150 size line capacity. 😎 Haha but yeah man 100% if I’m recommending a first casting reel purchase you can not beat the SLX XT for the price. It still impresses me whenever I use it. 🤙🏽 And I hope so! 🎣😊
Shimanos seem to have 2 washers on that main gear. My Nasci has 2, and my sons Nexave has 2 on it as well. Not sure why the schematic shows 1.
That happens a lot man, it’s weird. Sometimes on the schematics it actually says the number of washers might not be as shown or something like that haha makes no sense but whatever 🤷🏻♂️😂
@@WhereWeWild You know, I just finished up adding a bearing to the pinion gear in my nephew’s Sedona FI, and it had 3 washers on the main gear. That schematic shows 2. I guess it’s just a thing for shimano. 😂
I thought the new nasci came with cross carbon drag washers
Hmmm yeah I’m honestly not certain about that. 🤔 Does yours have carbon washers?
Idk but i have the 4000xg
@@WhereWeWildi have the 4000xg and on shimano website it says it has crosscarbon drag washers
@@zanderlz5909 Yeah the 2500 says it as well, idk man I get the feeling that maybe cross carbon drag might not necessarily mean the washers are made out of carbon fiber, but maybe just that there are multiple drag washers in it. 🤔 I’m honestly not sure. I do like to upgrade a lot of my reels to carbontex washers which I’ll grab on eBay.
You missed a bearing in the spool and the line winder. Penn grease is too heavy for a shimano reel. Those little bits of metal are called shims, each one has a different thickness for end float or backlash. Really you should completely remove all lubricating fluids and greases before re lubing. Old grease and oil holds microscopic shards of metal that you need to remove firs5
I respectfully disagree brother but I appreciate the comment 👊🏽😊 I’ve used Penn on all my reels for years and they are all butter. 🤷🏻♂️ You should make a video I’d love to see where there is a bearing in the spool. 🤔
Sounds noisy
Does it??? Seems fairly quiet to me for being a $100 reel. 🤷🏻♂️ Just used it a few days ago super smooth. Also you gotta remember that’s all fresh oil and grease going on freshly cleaned parts here, so takes some time to spread all that in. 🤙🏽
Probably just the fresh oil just sounds louder then the one I have but could be your camera amplified the sound
@@vaskodimoski5690 Oh yeah maybe the camera is super close.
