- The first-ever #MazdaCX70 has arrived and think of this car as the edgier and sportier 2-row version of the flagship #CX90. The #CX70 will also launch as the #CX70PHEV and it will offer up to 26 miles of EV only range and nearly as much power as the #CX70TurboS.

Happy Weds everyone! Hope your week is going well! We are traveling all this week driving/seeing several new 2025 models and we will be uploading a full review on just the Turbo S CX-70 and that video will post on 5/21 at 8am EST. Come back then for full details on both powertrains!
Yesterday, you released a video with Genesis GV80 and that car is amazing, Mazda despite the new cannot compete with Genesis.☝️☝️☝️☝️👊💥💥💥
I have been following your chanel for years. You purchased a jeep 4xe and I was wondering if you still have it and do you recommend that vehicle? I am about to pick up a 2024 wrangler 4xe high altitude tomorrow but I am still skeptical about its reliability. Please advise if you see this
Is that RX 450h+ that color copper crest?
Would you choose this? Or the Genesis GV80?
My lease is up next year on my Edge St. I love my Edge. Which car would you say is comparable and not $80,000 haha
I love the design details that differentiated it from the CX-90, but OMG I wish they had shortened the length about 6 inches. It would be the PERFECT ‘poor man’s’ X5! I feel like it was a missed opportunity(for me). Le Sigh.
Exactly. A little smaller and they have a winner.
@@dad242 Yes. I have 21 Mazda 6 and I’ve been hawk eyeing the CX-70s reveal since I saw the CX-60. I just KNEW it would be perfect. 😭
I don't know what happened here. Maybe they couldn't afford to make a drastic change to the design. It's a lazy effort. They didn't even remove the cupholders behind the second row.
@@PhillyFan20 I wondered that myself. Since they are a ‘smaller’ company, altering platforms like that is no easy or cheap feat. But, I’m not buying that people are asking for THAT MUCH space behind the 2nd row.
Agree. X5 is about 194 inches. This thing is almost 202 inches, the size of an X7. I am hoping Mazda will release smaller version in a year or two. I would buy the high output inline 6. But, Mazda really screwed this up, IMO. So many people will take a pass on this boat.
This guy has the best car reviews . Very fluid , balanced , and fun to listen to
C'mon Mazda....at least remove the cup holders in the back of the Cx90...errr I mean Cx70 :)
They’ll remove it next year lol😂
Copper and white interior would be cool
Agreed that interior color clashes with exterior copper paint.
More evidence that the North American Mazda execs are smoking crack. They have no clue.
Yeah, needs a saddle interior with beechwood accents.
I love it. You get the functionality of the size of the CX-90 without the useless third row. Plenty of space
All “seats folded down” jokes aside, Mazda should have used the CX60 platform they have in Europe. It would be the perfect middle ground size wise
It's basically identical in interior size to the CX-5 despite a larger footprint.
@kvetcha Still easier to park in cities than the CX-90.
@@kvetcha Its not. 60 70 80 90 are the same car, they are not the size of CX5
I agree but looks like Mazda was afraid of it cutting into their best seller CX5 and the similarly sized CX50. It is much more classy looking though. Id like it in black with that Terra Cotta interior
@@peepinR You need to take into account that Mazda SUV line up is split into two sub-brands essentially.
That is Small and Large Architecture, which is defined by the powertrains and not the size of the car.
On a scale of 20 to 90,
Small architecture CX20 to CX50
Large architecture CX60 to CX90
Love both the melting copper and red independently... but totally agree on this specific combo clashing. Really surprised they even offer them together.
Oh look. A CX90 with the seats folded down
Exactly 😂
That won't monetize well when put in video form. Need more filler
At least you can get a bench seat in the upper trims. Literally the only reason to buy IMO.
I think its shorter in length.
@@juanzingarello4005 may actually be longer because the bumper inserts stick out more.
Sure it has all the good things about the CX90 but, they should have cut off 6 inches and given us a true X5 competitor. instead, a CX90 with seats removed as a lazy marketing exercise
CX-60 found in Canada. Why they just didn’t give us that makes no sense whatsoever
I like having more space in back and don’t need a 3rd row
Apparently you didn't listen to the purpose of this cx-70
@@truckercowboyed2638 enlighten me. Does this vehicle not have more space in the back than its competitors?
I like the new segment of cross shoping with likely competitors! Please keeep that up. It is useful for people that are looking to buy new cars.
Love Mazda, big fan
Love your reviews! Literally started looking for SUV's last week after deciding a Tacoma wasn't going to meet my needs, saw the CX 90 and wished there was a two row version and Voila!!! Also had a CX 50 for a rental recently and liked it a lot.
What a color!!!💯
Awesome wheels.. mazda nailed it
I was going to ask for a comparison between this and Rx plug in, which followed later in the vid with more similar cars. Nice review 👏👏
Looks good in that paint job. I'm digging it
I don’t care how much Mazda says they didn’t shorten the length to provide best in class trunk and rear seat legroom. We all know that this was the CHEAPEST option for Mazda to bring another nameplate to the market. The CX-70 looks like a trim level of the CX-90 with the 3rd row deleted. Lame 🤷🏾♂️
You know and I know, but a lot of people seem to be confused.
Can’t wait for the Crown Signia 😊
happy owner of a 3.3 cx60.. if it ever makes it way to NA it will surely sell a lot
Somebody needs to build a tunnel under the ocean, so we can just drive it from another continent.
This color is on point. Almost like the lexus rose gold
That Lexus color is great.
Sofyan, great review. Know the embargo hasnt lifted, but seems like a comparo would be pretty interesting against the Crown Signia, especially when you can talk to driving dynamics and refinement + NVH vs driver engagement
This is probably the longest length 2 row SUV, which is way too long for just 2 row, Mazda didn’t even bother to shorten the length, what a lazy effort. Honda passport with 189.1 inches length still manage to have more cargo space than CX70 with 200.8 inches. Good luck to park this car in your garage.
A CRV matches the CX70 for cargo space! Such poor packaging.
@@alexmassengale433 True, in the cubic foot sense, since the CR-V has more up/down space in the rear. The depth of the cargo load floor on the CX-70 far surpasses the CR-V though, and that's what most people care about.
@@dsny121exactly, youre not stacking things to the very top of the roof. More practical to have a long space than a tall space. Gotta see behind you… (unless you get the $800 rear view camera mirror option)
@@jakes5530that’s what side mirrors are for. It works on delivery vans
love that the butterfly pad you a visit at 18:15 lol.
I’ll take this over the inline 6 and its engine placement which is gonna be expensive to service due to its design. Good job as always Sofyan!!!!!
Lexus’s version of this color looks better IMO “copper crest”
I prefer Melting Copper. The Copper Crest has a salmon pink color to it in some lighting conditions and I'm not quite sure I like it.
I can say I really don't want the touch screen controls. The rotary dial is great..
If they enabled touch they'd have to change the UI because the rows for rotary would be annoying to touch. But by forcing rotary, they force customers who'd intuitively reach to stop doing that and use the better controls while driving.
Rotary knob is way better than touch screen when driving
I like bronze very much. I'm not sure about the red. I don't think so. I love your reviews I don't know how you remember all the facts. But thanks so much.
I love that Mazda give you both option to use touch screen, I really don’t like touching my screen I personally prefer the rotary knob
Can’t wait to see the drives of these. After I get more use out of my 2022 CX5 Signature I’m thinking of maybe a CX70 Turbo S. Hope these new powertrains hold up.
I love the design, went from a Cx5 to a Nissan Pathfinder due to needing more space. We rarely use the third row. This is definitely a good option.
It’s funny because I am directly cross-shopping the Grand Cherokee and the CX-70
Hello, great review. Can you please comment on whether there could be some issues running this car with 87 octane rather than premium fuel? thanks!
Love the color
Love how the hood keeps opening up further
Lmao yeah what the heck was happening there?
@@GaryKetchum808 It was a very windy day lol
@@theredline i figured when you mentioned it later in the video. But still, it moved so uncanny, it looked like weirdly smooth cgi 😂
@@theredlinewhen can you review the all new traverse Z71 and RS trim
@@Maxwell1989I will review for you. American junk. You’re welcome
Recently added a CX30 and CX50 to my fleet. Spoke to the salesman about how well CX90 is selling and he said it wasn't selling well at all. That will most likely be how CX70 will be performing, not very well at all. It's the same size as CX90, which is gigantic. large cars like these are niche already, but add to that CX90 costs too close to the actual luxury brands. Mazda is supposed to market the area between economic brands and luxury brands, but it's trying to compete with the luxury brands. Mazda is great quality for how much it costs but when it costs as much as luxury brands then it falls short. For example, the CX90 I saw sitting in the Mazda showroom had manual seat adjustments for the 2nd row.
I love that Mazda is confident enough to bring out competitors. I really questioned making this thing so large but they have a point- Americans love big cars.
Does the center console flair in towards the drivers knee as it meets the dash?
3:43 Whoever came up with that shade of copper brown needs to be given a raise... gives it an awesome Range Roveresque vibe... 🔥
1:55 lol the Cx-70 looks like it wanted to sneeze 🤧!
This should just be a Variant of the CX90
I would have liked to see the second row seats be able to move back considering all that extra room. But that would have increased the cost cuz they would had to do some engineering in that second row to provide that functionality
Offer a meridian edition to take on some off road capabilities will be a good edition to the cx70 lineup
I don't normally go for "BROWWNN" (shout out to Clarkson, Hammond, & May) but I really like this color combo/design. Very handsome look.
Also, I think every manufacturer that offers a fully digital dash should offer the option for people to select a traditional gauge display (perhaps even a retro gauge display from past famous models of the brand, similar to what Ford did with the new Mustang) I don't mind a screen for a dash, but I want it to still look like regular gauges.
I can get 19mpg around town in my long paid for 08 MDX so I’ll keep it. I love what Mazda is doing with their designs but corporate greed everywhere is out of hand.
Umm no its called inflation, dont blame corporations blame the clowns willing to pay $50k for a Mazda
@@truckercowboyed2638
Yep, them too
@@truckercowboyed2638The clown is the one buying a Germán money pit for 29k more 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It is pretty interesting that Mazda positions itself in the same class as luxury vehicles. I always just thought they would compare to Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc. Not quite sure I’d consider Mazda luxury. Great review as always!!!
Good day Softan, could you please make a review on Toyota Mirai I looked over your channel and couldn’t find any review about that car, thank you.
Wish the back seat was 40/20/40 split. I have found that extraordinarily useful for transporting materials while still allowing access to 2 seats in the back.
Nice cx90
If Mazda made this vehicle 191" long, everyone would have to find something else to cry about.
what are the vents immediately behind the rear seats? Are the third row vents still present as the cupholders are? anyone knows? i would actually appreciate an answer as i have two dogs i can put in the trunk.
1:54 This one has the new optional stuttering hood.
HI Sofyan, Are you going to do a video review on the CX-5, CX50 ?
Does it come with a spare tire?
Mazda USA is really clowning on us. This product is such a letdown. Not only is it just a two-row CX-90, but they made some rather questionable choices along the way. The black doorhandles and black trim make the CX-70 look less premium. What are they smoking at Mazda USA corporate offices? Also, THANK YOU Sofyan for calling this a large SUV. I'm tired of manufacturers in North America trying to market 200"+ crossovers as "midsize".
I'd probably just buy the CX-90 PHEV.
i think the more sleek looking front of the older mazdas look better...like the cx30
Seriously now! Show us the CX-70. This must be the CX-90!!
I'm surprised that the cargo area is the same as a CRV ? Is that right?
Only getting 25mpg being a plug in hybrid is way too low. I usually don't agree that phev is the worst of gas and electric but this makes the case. Does it even save you money vs the cx90?
For that price, it seems like it should have air suspension if it really wants to draw those luxury buyers.
It was annoying that you could not get a top-trim CX-90 with a rear bench, and then the CX-70 arrives and that makes sense. Not everyone needs a third row of seats, but does appreciate the additional storage space. All that said, rear seats that slide forward and backward would have helped. I'm looking at this versus a Jeep GC L, for example - comparisons for me are against the bigger X7, GLS, etc which makes the Mazda even more cost effective.
Always amazed at Sofyan's ability to rattle off specs and details.
Right, without a script too. The guy is excellent at his craft.
I have no idea why people keep beating up on this. It's a nice vehicle. So what if they didn't shorten it? Think for the average driver it would have made any difference? Nope.
Hopefully cx5 will get a hybrid system, cause not everyone needs a giant bus. 😊
Mazda should give that melting copper color to the mx5 as well
People commenting here without personally checking the vehicle, all the best ! go out, take a test drive and open the door and close it you will see.. where Mazda lagging no where close to luxury cars please observe and decide ! all the best
Mazda doesn't make luxury cars, they make premium cars.
It's great looking! But like everyone else is saying, it's basically a CX-90 without the 3rd row.... It should at least be a few inches shorter.
Always a big Mazda fanboy, but nowadays I'm always torn between Mazda and Hyundai/Kia when I upgrade my family hauler.
The red interior would be best with the machine steel gray exterior, or the mica black paint.
Mazda really be making 3 ton, two row vehicles
I would prefer that Mazda would have kept the 40/20/40 rear seat design like in the CX-5 and the BMW. Also, they should have created more design differences between it and the CX-90, like making it a little shorter and maybe squaring off the rear end and making the rear glass more upright, IMO. Thanks for your reviews.
Lol i see the wind lifting the hood. You have a really good mic, could not tell it was really windy
These look neat but I can’t unsee how small the front doors look compared to the rear doors. Pretty odd.
Its hard to get excited for new Mazdas when the top three models look almost identical.
Why didn’t Mazda remove the 3rd row cup holders?
Because they would have had to make a new panel and that costs money
Laziness!!
What would you add in that space? A cup holder is a good utility to keep some liquid related bottles or items
they changed the inserts - they're little bins now.
@@tyhyhh Well they did make a new storage panel. Its not cupholders.
As an enthusiast, i prefer SUVs that are boxy and rugged like the LandCruiser and with the exception of the Rav4 that somehow manages to pull off the compromise, i believe because of Toyota's reputation for reliability. All these other SUVs are becoming to stylish and soft.
All they gotta do is to make CX-60 from other markets suitable for NA. Instead of that, they just take out the 3rd row out of a CX-90 😂
Unfortunate for Americans that Mazda US decided you guys like fisher price plastic cladding all over the body. Only the base trim has it in Canada and I think it looks so much better without it.
The screen is way too far for a comfortable touch screen experience. I actually think using the rotary dial is a much more ergonomic experience. (In the Mazda cars - other cars a touch screen makes sense)
I definitely don’t like that color combo. The black exterior, red interior looks better! Other than that this is a pretty nice suv 🔥
Better comparison is between this and the Nissan Pathfinder, QX60, and Toyota Highlander.
Actually, I see folks cross-shopping those models. The Mazda offers a much lower price for many of the same features. the difference is the length. That could be an issue.
I don't understand the driving embargo since it's going to drive EXACTLY the same as the CX90! 😅
You're not wrong in your assumptions, but Mazda tells us they've made some tweaks to the software in the transmission for the CX-70 for 2025. We'll let you know if that helps when we drive the car later today and our thoughts will be in the video posting next week on 5/21!
Had they priced it 40k to 50k between the cx50 and cx90, i would had overlooked the fact its a cx90 minus one row.
I looked at a CX70, its not in the X5 league which I almost bought, and not in the league of a RX either.. The CX has a lot more plastic inside.. and the X5 which I like a lot, is far superior in almost every way. The X5 is way faster, handles better, many more options available.. but also much more $$$... The RX is far nicer on the road, very quiet, and has a much more luxury feel, better sound system, but again also more $$.... the RX350 models are gutless... The RX500h is quick, but not as quick as the BMW......... The CX is a little larger inside than the RX. I am looking at one and considering as my wife wants to trader her 2020 Rav 4 limited hybrid... The CX70 is a lot nicer than my wifes Rav 4, and larger... I will say that. I think its decent value for the $$
People will cross shop this with Lexus TX hybrid Max, Hyundai Santa Fe, the Cherokee 4xe and the Acura ZDX. And the Toyota Grand Highlander.
that is expensive for majority of the americans....i think....mazda please make a $30k version...lol
If you wanna spend around $30k, Mazda will happily sell you a CX-5 or CX-50!
There is nothing wrong with chrome it’s very beautiful let’s just chill folx 😅
Are the 323 and 369 numbers an ode to past Mazdas the 323, 626, and 929? 🤔
BMW without bmw pricing.
The cost-cutting trend of unpainted lower valances on luxury/premium SUVs needs to cease.
Why doesn't he mention the pain in the butt multiple steps required to disable the auto stop/start feature?
Mazda is really doing awesome with their build , as well as jigging it up with the blurred lines of CX90 vs CX70 iso giving the CX90 the various model types. Good going Mazda
Because of how it's being marketed, the CX-70 is one of the most confusing new vehicles on sale. Mazda could've and should've just given us the CX-80 and offered it as a two-row vehicle only in the US since it's a smaller vehicle proportionally compared to the CX-90 as it is 4 feet shorter. It literally makes no sense in my mind to pay more for most of the trims of the CX-70 when all it is is a CX-90 with a third-row delete and blacked-out trim along with different exterior/interior colors. This is very lazy on Mazda's part.
The CX-60 makes so much more sense than this, and would actually fit in my garage. This chungus will not.
Why do you talk so fast at times? Please slow down.
People complains too much about this,, cx 90 with 3rd row delete,, same size, blah blah blah... how about the grand highlander and the lexus tx??. Venza and rav 4?
the back still looks weird to me, almost like they pulled design cues from their MPV. I still don't understand why they made a car with the same dimensions as the 90
I was hoping this would be a shorter version of the CX90. It's too long and has no spare tire. My 2019 CX5 has a spare that I needed recently after a blow out on the highway that rendered the tire unrepairable. For me, no spare means no sale.
