I bought a CX-50 in February. Nothing about the car disappoints me. Maybe I’m just too basic but the interior on my Cx-50 and this CX-70 just feel borderline luxury. Maybe because I traded my 2017 Toyota RAV4 LE AWD. It was basic as basic gets!
I’ve been shopping CX-5 and CX-50, have a 2021 CX-5 currently. It feels a bit quieter and more refined to me than the CX-50 but the CX-50 is more brawny and I like the front of it.
Another terrific review: fast moving, informative & unbiased. I *really" like this and, I'm very biased to German & English SUVS. The engine reving sounded fairly good.

Actually, those aren’t cup holders in the back they are storage cubbies. I finally got a close look at them on this video and those are not the same design as the cup holders in the CX-90.

That door shutting like that with the bottle is actually pretty real world accurate, I wish more car manufacturers added felt, I think it would help a lot.

Thank you for this review. I was thinking about getting the CX 90, but the problems with its transmission and ride quality gave me pause. Your review seems to show that the CX 70 has benefited from the growing pains of the CX 90.
The best thing about the CX-70: 5 passengers and 5 sets of golf clubs. Should have called it the Arnold Palmer Edition. Would really like to drive the PHEV to compare to the Turbo S, but I thought the 26 mile EV range was kind of odd.
8:05 It's a rwd platform with an in-line 6 engine, so the hood has to be much longer than non-rwd based SUVs like the Passport or Atlas. That's probably why interior dimensions are similar to those of shorter SUVs.
I wanted an SUV with good handling, pickup, MPG, and tech. Additionally I travel with three large dogs so when you fold down the bench seats there are no gaps. I could care less if it called a CX 90 or CX70.

I've been considering the Mazda CX-90, but after diving into customer reviews, it seems there are a lot of issues with this model. Additionally, it's worth noting that the CX-90 has had 7 recalls in the last 6 months alone.
Good looking vehicle. Good that it doesn't come with air suspension. Due to the fact if you plan on keeping a vehicle for quite some time and not be trading it in anytime soon then it will help with maintenance costs in the future.

Exhaust solution. In the rear just extend the fake vent below the red reflector into a exhaust. The shape would look cool and help the rear bulge alot. And sound! Please Mazda! At least a sports package.
I do wish it was a bit smaller for city living/driving. I’m eyeing the 5 but not thrilled with the design. If the new gen 5 looks takes on the 70 body style (or 60), im SOLD.
I just bought this exact vehicle. Color, trim, EVERYTHING. Exactly. Not as quick as I thought it’d be. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Very nice though. Would look better with all black wheels. I’ll put those on myself when I wear out the stock tires.

I don't believe it is poised to have a "Turbo S" nomenclature, when the 0-60 is a slow 6.1 seconds. I do however, claim that it is a great looking wagon. Great video Sofyan/Redline Reviews.

Perhaps it was the transmission, which was dumbed down, to appeal more to the masses, than a sportier feeling/quicker wagon/SUV. Comparing apples to Oranges here but, my Current Audi does the 0-60 in the low to mid 4 second range, with similar power outputs mind you. But again, this Mazda was created this way to appeal to a broader range. Either way, glad they are still building sportier vehicles, although nothing like the 90s. But I digress.
The 0-60 on the I6 is hurt by the fact that the initial launch is handled by the rather anemic electric motor, so it takes a few beats for the gas engine to really take over.
I like the front end, color options, especially the color matched moldings... but the rear is really bulky and unnatural looking. Its also longer than a Pathfinder... its just too long. I hope they bring a similar front end and interior design to a smaller CX5 refresh in the future along with these updated power train options. I'd think they could tweak out even more MPG on a lighter, smaller car. I'd consider a Genesis GV70 ahead of this in a test drive.
I still say Mazda screwed this up royally. This was supposed to be a slightly wider CX-60. That would have been perfect. This is way too big. Plus, no other company changes the name of the vehicle when the only difference is a third row delete (a few minor design details mean nothing). The GV80 can be 2 row only or come with a third row, it's called GV80 both ways.
So you think that they arbitrarily decide what region is getting what or they're driven by what their market research shows? If their research showed that the CX-60 would have done well in North America or whatever region you're in, why in the hell would they be like "nah, CX-70"?🙄

I feel like this is a missed opportunity. They could’ve shortened it and given it a sportier rear roofline for differentiation (seems to work for Genesis), and simply add more seating options for the CX-90 to appeal to those who need the space.
Sorry to spoil the party, but horrible looking rear pillar makes this car a no go! They should have have shrunk it to resemble the cx-60 in other markets. I am a long time Mazda owner with two previously bought cx-5's and a mazda-3. A complete disappointment😞
I still don’t get it. Should have copied Jeep with how they did grand Cherokee and grand Cherokee L. If you’re going to give me a 2 row model then do it right. I think it will still sell well but missed opportunity in my book. Excellent job as always Soyfan!

This reminds me of what Kia did with the last generation Sorento. They sold the same vehicle, one with two rows and one with 3 with no difference to the body. The only difference is that they didn’t rename it lol.
Yes, and it was 10 inches shorter than this with similar cargo space. You hit the nail on the head. People expected a physically smaller car when Mazda hyped a 70. What they got was a clear example of bad product planning.

Yep my Mazdas have had felt in various places since 2007.
Premium fuel is not required. It will run on regular, but restricts hp to 319. Torque remains at 369.

2:37 Premium gas is NOT required. The ECU adjusts and detunes the engine slightly.
That inline 6 sounds really good and the interior is gorgeous. The exterior is not really attractive to me, but it is not bad for an SUV.

Great looking CX90
It’s got packaging issues vs. its competitors because it’s transverse mounted, RWD-based and drives the rear wheels and sends drive back to the front.

Nit pick: it seems odd that they put satin grey metallic trim throughout the cabin, but left the steering wheel metal trim shiny like in the CX90
i have a cx-5 in the zircon sand color and it's STUNNING. Tan in direct sunlight, and a muted green in anything else.

PHEV will not go in EV mode if you are on Sport Mode. Kinda makes sense if Sport mode requires to be quick to respond.

Its a very quiet engine and cabin. No sound adjustment to exhaust sound.

The Cx70 has a better 21” wheel design, which makes the Cx-70 look unique. Also, cx70 has a better front and rear bumper design

My hot take is that it’s US’s “rugged” SUV segment is the reason why we got the CX-70 and CX-50 instead of the CX-60.
