I keep it on the center stand, but I'm not to bothered about it. After 181.000km i would expect it to use a bit of oil on cold starts. After 1-2 minutes the smoke disappears so it's fine, still has a lot of life in it :)
the bike is fuel injected, it doesn't have a choke. that lever just opens the throttle body a little bit. it doesn't choke the air intake to enrich the mixture

Fast idle lever perhaps? Boxers (and K series) often smoke a little if they have been left on their side stand for any length of time.
