  • It's time Brutus, my 1996 R1100GS got a full set of tools all stored on the bike leaving my side cases and top case empty for luggage. Plus I get to test ride a lot of Benelli and Zero motorcycles during the day making it extra special.

    As I own both a RT and GS, both 1150s, believe me the most comfortable bike of the 2 is the RT, as it should be. On the 1150RTs the seat is second to none. It is very much shaped like an old saddle and these old saddles were/are excellent. Friz did not invent the boxer lay-out... and there is excellent weather and wind protection. Much, much better than on the GS. I probably offend the BMW people, but quality wise an old Honda is much, much better... Beemers (and the cars are like that too) tend to have all kinds of little issues I never ever experienced on Honda's/Japanese bikes of the same age. The upside: especially the RTs are hard to match if you drive daily and just have to go somewhere quickly... The kind of journey most people would use a car for. If you need/want to ride a bike in that way, go for a bike the Police uses as well. And that is certainly the case with the RTs.

    Hi from Texas. Great Video, The Old Girl looks to very well taken care of and Rides Beautifully. I Ride a 2006 R1200GS and Love it. Once you start moving, it feels as light as a 125cc Bike but with all the Power and Comfort of a Big Bike. For some reason I just cannot get it on the Center Stand no matter how hard I try. I’m 62 though and have a really bad Back. The GS is the only Bike I can Ride and not hurt. It’s so comfortable. I guess they did away with the Tool Box like yours has, so I carry all my Tools, Tire Pump, and Power Pack in my Top Pannier. I will probably have this Bike until I just can’t Ride anymore. It’s so easy to do all the Maintenance yourself. I really enjoyed the Video and look forward to seeing all of them. It’s really nice seeing the Older GS,s on the Road. Stay Safe and good luck on all your Travels.👍👍

      Thank you, I'll try to keep the old boy on the road as much as I can and I do love the comfort on a long trip how it just eats up the miles effortlessly.

    G’day mate 🇦🇺
    I’ve recently picked up a GS for myself, it’s a 1999 R1150 in Mandarin
    I have named her Helga and she is the new sibling for my 1999 R1100S (Heidi)
    I’m looking forward to taking her on some longer trips when the weather cools down here in North Queensland

    From what I read, the blood work fees are paid by the state, and normally those payments are delayed (not sure if on purpose, but that's a theory). To speed up the process, you can pay out of your own pocket and speed up the process with up to 6-7 weeks. Glad to hear you're not on the drug wagon 👍

    Alex, thank you so much for another great video. I need to ask, did you ever live in the US? the reason I ask is that not only do you speak English so well, but you also use what I assumed to be American idioms so well. Listening to you speak, your accent is the audible clue that you aren’t another American making videos. I love the glimpse into Romanian culture that you provide. When I was growing up back in the seventies and early eighties, Romania was on the other side of a wall. I am so glad to see you part of Europe now. Maybe one day I will get to visit your country.

      I learned English as a toddler from cartoons and I kind of stuck with us cartoons and movies and watching TH-cam. I do call myself bilingual. I'm glad I don't have such a eastern European accent because it makes my videos easy to watch for native English speakers.

    On the tools...invariably when I mention tools and critical spares for whatever bike I am taking on my long yearly trip (4-6000 miles) a German or Brit pipes up that all I need is my breakdown service card and a cell phone. A) I don't like being dependent on others to plug a tire, tape up a broken indicator, tighten a rattling bolt. B) The US (and I assume parts of Eastern Europe) has VAST expanses without cell service and with little or no traffic...those tend to be where the best roads are!. C) If I am in BFE Montana, who is going to have a spare hall effect sensor for 25 year old BMW? Do I want my 3 week vacation to involve 3 days waiting on parts in a town with one gas station and a dive bar?
    On that note, when traveling I do not like my tools under the seat...some maybe but I keep enough to take off all the body work, and (on my chain drive bikes) to adjust anything that might need adjusting. Guess how fun it is to try to get to your under seat tools when you accidentally jammed the seat lock while loading the bike.

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With all 3 cases empty for luggage I can fit everything I need just in the cases and the passenger seat remains empty. As for hall effect sensor mine was redone by a guy here who rebuilds them and they don't fail anymore. He's been doing it for over 10 years and is well known around these parts :))

    Hello Alex.
    Considering you're going to Milan, and it seemed like you hinted at something for November in one of your previous videos, can we expect new Sym models at the fair? Greetings from Belgrade

    I wonder if you have measured or have any estimate of the consumption of such an old motorcycle ? let's say on the highway and in the urban circle. Does it reach 10 lt/100km? obviously with gentle driving

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Arround 5.5 - 6.0L/100km, the worst o got was 9L/100km in January only city rush hour trafic. It's defenetly not a commuter bike 😂

    27:20 wow, the oil marks on the car park ground. Honestly it looks in Germany only the same, if a cars with Romanian or especially Bulgarian registration numbers park(ed). I’d hope anyone would fine them for this, but… a standard is a standard, I suppose.. 😕

      Why show a BMW?
      1. Because I own a BMW
      2. You could bring some arguments to the table why are BMW as bad as you make them sound.
