This show really makes you think. For most people, morality goes out the window when they’re trying to survive. There’s always exceptions, though.
I can't lie, it's really, really rough throughout. But it has real purpose and meaning. It's not just sensationalizing violence and cruelty. This show will move you deeply.
It is very rare that reactors have not been spoiled in what happens in the red light green light. It was great seeing the period of confusion and disbelief and then genuine horror of what was happening. Great reaction.
I don't want to tell you if it gets worse or not but I can tell you you'll get emotions you will never think you'll get. It's not the violence that makes the show great, it's the human story behind it and the drama... Great reaction as always and yeah, ending of 1st episode hit hard for me too.
If you feel disturbed by this first episode, you're supposed to.

This is just the beginning Kazzy. There's many more you will get to see and feel since it's with a lot of suspense, plot-twists and tear-jerking moments. You will definitely gonna need another box of tissues to control your tears. 🙁

You can't be prepared for this show. Even if someone breaks it all down telling you whats up it doesn't prepare you for it. I loved the show but I understand if people can't do it. It is a lot and it never lets up.

@@KazzyCreates you can continue that desensitization journey with Peacemaker! It's very very good, John Cena is a surprisingly excellent actor in emotional scenes.
@@KazzyCreates I wouldn't say one gets desensitised. Squid Game just finds new ways to set your nerves and emotions jangling. I know everyone says Episode 6, rightly so, but for me Episode 8 was such a cruel and unnecessary and stupid gut punch, after everything.
Mathematically, it cannot keep that pace of bloodshed. So there's that. If sheer body count is your only metric of traumatic viewing then you are going to have a progressively jolly time.

Half (ish) of the contestants just died.... so this is by far the highest Death Count Episode.
On one hand, that means the hardest part is over... but you will become emotionally invested in people that die, which makes it a bit worse.

Not gonna lie, it doesn't get better in the gratuitous violence department. Personally, I think that if you're an empathetic sort of person, you probably won't get over the psychological games and the absolute horror of this show. It's up there for the most violent shows I've seen. However, I had Battle Royale under my belt before watching this, so I feel like I was a lot more prepared.
Edit: As an aside, I think that the writing and the execution of this show are top-tier. It's a real commentary on the human condition. I think this is one of the better shows I've seen despite the horrific nature of it. Battle Royale is kind of... just horrific. However, it's definitely worth a watch if you get a chance. It was Hunger Games long before Hunger Games was cool.

I hope that you consider going back to the Expanse after Squid Game, Kazzy, as Squid Game is only one season. Make no mistake, I am THRILLED that you are watching Squid Game... but the Expanse is one of my all time favorites and generally believed to be one of the best sci-fi/dramas of our time.
I stopped watching Expanse around end of S3, I think. I have access to all of it up to current, might just hop back in. Would want to watch some reactions to get up to speed where I was then hop back in. Gotta say favorite scene from what I've seen so far HAS to be the one at the end of 3x7 - yea, you know the one, hahahaha. That effect was jaw-dropping 😲.

Really really good show...It WILL NOT ease up, you will certainly have difficult moments, but you will love it! I almost feel bad watching such a sweet soul go through this series....
