Actually, he is too old for some games, like Dalgona.
The reason why Sang-woo getting to SNU is a big deal bc it is S. Korea's first national university and not just anyone can get in especially with mediocre grades. Graduates of this school usually work in government or really respectable companies. Their business program is also considered very prestigious so that's why people in the show are in awe of Sang-woo's educational background.

Further more Gihun never confronted Sang Woo about Ali. (literally his savior from game 1) This show itself seemed to have forgotten about Ali also? This show sucks. Honestly...it started off strong and ended so stupidly....can't understand all the praise.

To clarify: SNU is the #1 University in South Korea, it's incredibly hard to get accepted (Way harder than to get into Ivy League schools in the US, at least percentage-wise). That's why SNU is getting mentioned over and over

@Gia Gia Well western colleges are top ranked globally lol. Harvard, MIT, Oxford, Cambridge all consistently rank above University of Tokyo or Seoul National University. Pull up any list, the western colleges are going to be in the top 20s, while east asian colleges are in the top 50s.

Regarding the university bit - it’s not the fact that this dude got into a university. It’s about the fact that the university that he got into is SNU! Seoul National University is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world. Any person who got into Seoul will be known let alone someone from a small district!

This show was great. The only thing that annoyed me about this series was the poor acting from the Elites lol. It's like when an American does an Australian accent. Just too over the top.
You have to realize that they don't really have legit American actors in Korea; there's just no market for it. Also, the actors here in America are too spoiled for Asian working conditions. I mean, the Americans are basically about to strike because they're not getting 12 hour turnarounds between working days (among other points). In Asia, PSH! Get another job if you're not willing to work those conditions. There's a long line of people who would gladly take your spot.

I actually really liked the cliche acting and wouldn’t be surprised if it was done deliberately. How many times has Hollywood portrayed Asians in a stereotypical way? Getting to see how other countries view Americans was insightful and added another layer to the social commentary in the show.

Weird that they didn't even mention Ali, his plot tied with the theme of the story perfectly.
Because they can't make fun of a character that is sensational. There is not much of a commentary for the character because Ali is a well-constructed character and perhaps they weren't able to find a good joke for him.

I've heard that the university you attend is a pretty big deal in Korea and that the entrance examens can be extremly difficult. And the college this guy attended might be one of the really prestigious ones. Maybe it's like the equiviavent to saying "He made his degree at Harvard”. So it doesn't seem that strange, that they repeat this fact so frequently.

The strangest thing is. In the UK not everyone did go to University/Business School/College. The script was on point. It was something that people did talk about and proud Mothers boasted about. Then those noble institutions realised how much money they could make. My Hamster started his degree in pure mathematics September. Not bitter but been paying my Student Loan and the interest now for nearly twenty years.

That awkward moment where the narrator says "shy teens in love" and shows almost all dramas that are about 20 to 40 year olds. Seems like the writers were describing themselves with that Parasite line.
But the rest was hilarious! Should've had Ali in there though. I'm guessing because you couldn't figure out a joke for him? Still, he deserves it. That actor has been playing bit parts in Korean dramas/movies for a while, and it was really cool to see him get a major supporting role finally.
Also the cop is totally alive. Shoulder shot is drama speak for "definitely not dead yet".

by the time both side story finished, we served with gganbu(marble game) and honestly we are forced to focus on main chara and it worked!
I’m pretty sure the cop is alive. He was only shot on the top left of his chest and the height of the cliff to the ocean wasn’t very long. I assume he regained consciousness and swam to safety or maybe he was saved by boats or something. They didn’t show his body.

The subplot with the cop and his brother being the front man turned out to be kind of a disappointing loose end, unless of course they can somehow tie it back in if there’s a season 2.
Well, The Frontman knows the terrain. He shot him in the shoulder to knock him off the cliff. He has a small chance of survival if he hits the water.
I got the sense that the Frontman is essentially Gi-Hun. That's one reason he tried to warn him away from digging deeper. The brother was a winner. He went home, and couldn't stand it, started digging, and some how for some reason ended up running the games. He seems to have loyalty to the old man, but now that the old man is dead, perhaps that is where the loyalty ends.
I imagine those texts / videos from the cop will also eventually go through.
What if you look at it from the perspective of it was a vessel to show us a behind-the-scenes at the whole operation

After watching Squid Games, I would suggest Marvel take a look at Front Man. His outfit and mannerisms are almost exactly what they are missing in their interpretations of Doctor Doom so far.
