    What i like about this video is the boy doesn't try to make out that he knows it all, its these guys that help us more than the professionals as their looking at the bike the way we look at our bikes and we only know hows it done by perseverance. and trying this and that till we sort it.

    Beautiful bike. Weak point is the electrics. People jump in and start tearing the carbs apart but the electrical system is the first place to fully test. Had a 86. Its was a beast but needed constant attention.

    Good luck! I had a 93, I can tell you that the V-boost was amazing! I'd personally recommend finding the stock airbox and carb set up. they can definitely be jetted up if necessary. it would be nice if you could find the fake air scoops too. they weren't functional but they really made the look complete. if you get it running and really accelerate hard, the red oil light will come on. don't be alarmed its not a pressure sensor, but a level sensor. most V-maxers will tell you "if you ain't getting the red light, you ain't riding it right!" 2 things that that bike still wont do very well is turn or stop, so make sure you leave yourself plenty of road to slow down if you get on it hard.

      I have the stock carb and airbox setup, so it's an option if these carbs don't work.

      @@mrniceguy351 I watched your second vid, they seem to be a bit much carb for your machine. I wish I could download a personal vid of mine with freshly rebuilt stockers with the V-boost operational. I rebuilt my own and bench synched them, I had stage 2 jetting and Supertrapp exhaust. the sound when everything is right is pure love! Keep going and again I wish you the best of luck!

    Cracking project. So its all about the fueling. Tank to inlet valve. Have you done a compression test on it yet, just for markers as you say, it does run. Good luck. Enjoy.

      No compression test yet!

    You should check the stock carbs to see if a Dynojet Stage 7 kit was installed as that hose going to the oil filler cap comes with the kit to allow for release of crankcase pressure. 1993 was the year 43mm forks and 4 piston calipers were upgraded---Your 2003 has all the available upgrades--R/R, Segment, Spin-on oil filter, helmet lock and redesigned block for the oil filter. If stage 7 was installed you should now have about 130hp at the back wheel instead of 112 stock---the 39mm keihins will be close to the same with Stage 7 kit.

      I would also look for either the airbox or 4 K&N filters---that would tell you if Stage 7 carb kit is installed--if you could post a video of the stock carbs facing up I can tell you if the kit was installed. The keihins are 39mm from UFO as is the ufo headers and your stock carbs are Mikuni 35mm.

    the crankcase breather setup might be functional.. possibly this thing has been modified and is running high crankcase pressure and needs the catch can and drain.. it might puke oil out if you return it to stock.. figure there has to be a reason it's been modified.. it will be interesting to see how she runs.. i'd scope the bores and get a look at the piston domes.. check the compression.. valvetrain.. curious why it was at auction.. keep us informed.. possible the engine's been built.. hope it's not hurt..

    Sure looks like it's been worked over... very good possibility you'll need those carbs..

    Do those new carbs use the vmax system?

  • @texastyrannyresponseteam794
    @texastyrannyresponseteam794 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    looks mean with those velocity stacks on it.. not sure i'd want them myself.. but they look kinda kool... bet it's going to sound good sucking all that air when you open her up..

      I'm quite tall, and with the stock peg location I sit on this thing like a bullfrog! Feet high and knees wide!

    • @texastyrannyresponseteam794
      @texastyrannyresponseteam794 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah.. Forward controls will help.. If the stacks don't interfere.. Im tall so i like to stretch out too.

    • @Jimmyz96
      @Jimmyz96 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      those are definitely not the stock carbs, the stockers go straight up into the airbox. the velocity stacks are necessary for the carbs to function properly as well, they have rubber ones with the stock configuration. the original V-boost config dumps from 2 carbs after 6k rpms.

  • @texastyrannyresponseteam794
    @texastyrannyresponseteam794 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Keihin carbs have been around forever.. that's an expensive carb upgrade.. i've never had that setup.. i understand they are somewhat finicky to get tuned across the rpm range.. the exhaust will play a big part of how she acts when tuned properly... looking forward to seeing how it all works.. you got a smoking good deal on it provided the internals are all in good shape.. if i recall the carb kit runs close $2k USD retail.. ~~$1k used..

    • @mrniceguy351
      @mrniceguy351  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah it will be interesting to see how they run. If you throw the throttle open in a hurry it stalls. (Spoiler: it's now running!) I need to get some oil in the forks before I take it out though.
