DISCLAIMER: There is a chance that the method shown may differ slightly in the way Mahjong is played in certain places but from my experiences, the basics should still be applicable for a wide range of Mahjong Variations.
For those who have always asked me to teach them how to play mahjong, here ya go. Am actually high key very proud of this video and hope this was entertaining enough to watch and educational enough to teach such a complex game. Really hope more people would play it.

The whole “forming a Kong” part confuses me. For example: you have a hand of 13 titles, as standard. If you use someone else’s discard to form a Kong (or draw it yourself), you then have 14 in-hand - so far, normal. Then you form your Kong, leaving you with 10 in-hand but still in 14 total (because the Kong is 4 tiles long; 4 in the display and 10 in-hand). Then, you draw from the reclaim pile which gives you 11 in-hand/15 total, and then discard one tile to end our turn, leaving you with 14 tiles - wouldn’t that put you over your had limit of 13? I must be missing something, because out of all the videos I’ve watched, it always seems to contradict itself at that part. What am I missing? (By the way, excellent video - super informative. Please don’t think my question arose because your video lacked clarity. It was wonderful).
