@@kalinwydick7528 Some historians suggest that Angelica was probably joke-flirting with Hamilton. Cause again, by the time Angelica met Hamilton, she was already married. She even eloped with her husband before she got her parents' permission I think.
Yes, but for me, I think it's a love for brotherhood or something, because I remember some letters that were read mistaken for love letters....I don't know....we weren't really there
@@claudiavaldezvideorecords8947 except it wasn't? There were explicit letters between them both. Hamilton's grandson destroyed a bunch because they were incriminating
Actually, we don't have any proof that they where in a love relationship x) a lot of historians defines it as more of a teen crush than anything more (they where 19 if I remember correctly, so they were probably searching themselves, we'll never know) for the burnt letters, it could have been anything too, and the nose joke... They're young boys? XD
I get y’alls point lol Hamilton and Angelica’s relationship is a bit strange. In real life though, they wrote to each other mostly about politics and strategies to get Hamilton’s ideas through to congress. Angelica was very wise and had a lot of connections so their letters were mostly business. But the theory is that they did have secret feelings for each other.
It is true that they did jokingly flirt in real life, but it was all platonic and they were just very good friends- she had a good marriage with her husband
Angelica and Hamilton’s relationship is a bit different in the musical than in real life but there is truth to it. Anyone that observed the two of them described them as essentially two halves of the same mind. They agreed on everything. There was speculation that they loved each other which is played upon in the musical. Many people would say that if Angelica wasn’t already married when they met (IRL) and Ham was of high status that they would have gotten married vs Ham and Eliza. Ham essentially loves them both. Angelica for being his counterpart and Eliza as his wife.
My name is Phillip, I am in heaven, 'Cause George Eaker can only count to seven I lived 'til ten plus nine You can save lives, *But you can't save mine*
Don't worry about Angelica. She's way more amazing than- Ahem, another women. You'll meet her in the next song.. Also, *Alexander's letters to Laurens are more like love letters.*
so my take is that their “love” for each other centered around their intelligence. Look at how many times Angelica uses the word “mind”. “Looking for a mind at work, I know my own sister like I know my own mind, etc. She was a deep thinker & is attracted to others like her.
yees this songs so cute and sweet thank yall for gettin this uploaded next ones gonna be... wild!! i do have to add though that angelica and hamilton did not really have a relation like this. that was added in the musical basically as added drama bc its a musical. while many things are accurate, there are also a number of things that were changed/added to make the musical more interesting and what not
Lin did change some stuff for drama, but Hammy and Angelica really did have an intelectual affair of sorts. Chernow makes that very clear in the biography
Its really clever, the way he says "I trust you'll understand the reference to another Scottish tragedy without my having to name the play" because there's a superstition in theatre that its bad luck to say the title 'Macbeth' in a theatre/rehearsal area. It's only ever called 'The Scottish Play'.
I am enjoying this series so much. Thanks for sharing. Alexander and Angelica definitely have a flirty relationship (at least). Angelica is a fiery intellectual, which is of course going to appeal to Alexander.
that's one discrepancy for the sake of drama. In real life Angelica was already married when she met Alexander Hamilton. His name was John Barker Church. He was a British merchant who got into debt , from a poor decision in the stock exchange and gambling. To evade his creditors he came to the U.S and sold supplies to the patriot army. He quit gambling, got out of debt and became quite wealthy.Angelica's father didn't approve of her marrying John barker Church, John barker Church and Angelica eloped and moved to England, where John barker Church became a member of the British Parliament .
additionally, in Satisfied Angelica talks quite a bit about how she has to marry rich because her father has no sons...when in fact she did have a couple of brothers who were just conveniently left out of the musical
The letter flirting was real tho, Angelica wrote to Hamilton "My Dear, Sir" with a comma after dear. Hamilton wrote back saying that it probably was a grammatical error, but if it wasn't he would be expecting for the comma after dear in future letters. And then he ended the letter with "Adieu ma chere, soeur" or translating from french: "Farewell my Dear, Sister" with a comma after dear. By the time those letters were written, that was downright sexting.
Oh my god a galactibun animatic!!! Awesome ❤️ when y'all get to Burn and It's Quiet Uptown you should use their animatics for those as well, they're really good!
... "I came all this Way" She wasn't Saying She Came For Him, She Just Said She Travelled Far, and Was Dissapointed They Wouldn't all Spend time Together
"My dearest Angelica" suggests endearment in a platonic sense. "My dearest, Angelica suggest that Angelica is the person he holds most dear. It's quite strange how one comma can change a sentence to such an extent.

I love the way you said that, "I would have to end her." It's just a matter of fact, I'm sorry, I have to end you. Ya know I had to do it to 'em. But in all seriousness, having listened to the play dozens if not hundreds of times and actually getting to go see it twice, I gotta say Alexander is 100% the aggressor in this little relationship. Notice that Angelica never makes the first movement or has the first word in. And her "flirting" is a lot more subtle, to the point that someone could straight up read her lines or her letter and would have no idea these two had something going on unless they had prior context. It's almost hard to even call it flirting. Even when Eliza and Alexander got married and Alexander had the line "Angelica tried to take a bite of me." That's actually not true at all, even within the context of the play. He tried to take a bite of her. That line of his is foreshadowing in it's most subtle form. It's a sign of someone who is emotionally manipulative. By putting the thought in Eliza's mind he makes her subconsciously shift blame onto Angelica in the event something does happen and they get caught.
He didn't really choose Eliza until after their son died and Angelica rejected him a second time in "The Reynolds Pamphlet." Remember in Winters Ball where he pushes Lafayette out of the way to get to Angelica and then Alex looks shocked when Angelica introduces him to Eliza realizing she passed on him. He recovered quickly though. I think the worst part is "longing for Angelica and missing my wife." You are definitely right about who the aggressor was, but Angelica went along with it so....
Don't worry! Angelica loves Alexander but she loves Eliza more, they're flirty but they weren't love letters
Actually, in actuality, Angelica wrote to eliza and said that she should lend him to her. And it wasn’t a joke.
