It's not just that Eliza wanted to settle down. Alexander was drowning himself in work and Laurens' death and with that neglecting his wife. In helpless he promised her that she will never feel 'helpless' again, in this song though she shows that the promise is broken as she feels helpless with his behaviour. This song has so much energy and sounds amazing. Perfect for ending the act.
The last part of this song is everyone singing their respective leitmotiv to Hamilton, the chorus is singing to him “Just you wait” while he’s singing/responding to everyone his own leitmotiv “i’m not throwing away my shot”. The “not throw away my shot” and “just you wait” thing is what characterizes the Act II of the show in my opinion. I really hoped you liked Hamilton so far!
I love how ham pinched Eliza's motif "look around. At how lucky we are to be alive right now" to use against her. The number of motifs used in this number is superb.
And look when they are signing it - Eliza in quiet family moments, when Ham is bored, while Ham sings it when he is about to leave his family for work.
Glad you guys are back with Hamilton! Non-stop is the last song of Act One. The next song, What Did I Miss, is the beginning of Act Two. This musical doesn’t have an Entr’Acte, like most musicals. Great reaction!
my favorite thing is the separate ideals of burr and hamilton can be summed up just with their separate motifs Hamilton: Just you wait Burr: wait for it
yees boy have i been eagerly awaiting this one. one of my favorite songs from the musical. super catchy and then it brings back all of these different motifs in such a fantastic mashup representing all of these voices in his head screaming out to him to just slow down and enjoy life and stop worrying about his legacy for 2 seconds. but of course he ignores it, because he's alexander hamilton. and he takes every single oppurtunity that comes his way to rise higher.
This is my 2nd favorite song of the musical! Non-stop just shows how important legacy was and the reprise of all the songs... just amazing! In the film when Burr says “Hamilton wrote the other 51!” It’s a VERY powerful moment!
FINALLY- IVE BEEN WAITING NON STOP ( ;) ) Also if you look at the ending hes shooting at the sky....ALSO I cant wait for what'd I miss its one of my fav parts and honestly I love act II so much uwu
I believe that Alexander Hamilton's workaholic attitude/addiction to working was his way of distracting himself from himself. The man embodies PTSD and depression. Once he stops flooding his brain with work, he is forced to acknowledge his negative thoughts.
"Why do you assume you're the smartest in the room? Soon that attitude may be your doom." LATER: "I cannot equivocate on my opinion." "Even if I said what you think I said..." "I won't apologize for doing what's right." Damn, Lin made Burr clairvoyant. 🤣
I took a political science class over the summer a few years ago, and was super excited because one of the things we were supposed to read was one of the Federalist Papers. HOW DID I GET ONE OF THE 34/85?! I was hoping to read Alexander's contribution. I think I read one of the five by John Jay, but it may have been one of Madison's.
Same reason as James Madison and Thomas Jefferson - foreshadowing, and very well done, especially with lyrics, as they point at moments when Alex indeed "throws away his shot", both methaporically (his affair with Maira and subsequent Reynolds Pamphlet, quarrels with Jefferson and Madison) and figuratively (in his duel with Burr). Alex is saying that is is "not throwing away his shot", while the others sing "just you wait" and we are shown those instances, where he would indded throw away his shot.

They reacted to the whole thing on Twitch months ago, they just cut down and schedule the Uploads, so they already know the next Song...
5:59 Gives me dang chills epesicaly when George Washington comes in singing "History has its eyes on you" 😫😍
my favorite thing is the separate ideals of burr and hamilton can be summed up just with their separate motifs
Hamilton: Just you wait
Burr: wait for it
Best description I've seen yet. Burr plays it safe for his destiny whereas Hamilton aimed for it
I'd say Hamilton's is more "I am not throwing away my shot." _or_ "I'd rather be divisive than indecisive."
One of my favourite pieces of foreshadowing in the musical -
"I am not throwing away my shot!"
Burr: "Just you wait..."

Onto Act 2!!! You'll meet new characters btw! I also can't wait for your reactions on,"Say No To This". I bet they'll be funny xD
I love Burr's eyes when he says free ammunition for your enemies, he looks like he's about to kill Alexander right then
Maria is so beautiful in this. I’ve never noticed her until watching them react to it. Thought they didn’t notice it...
FINALLY- IVE BEEN WAITING NON STOP ( ;) ) Also if you look at the ending hes shooting at the sky....ALSO I cant wait for what'd I miss its one of my fav parts and honestly I love act II so much uwu

This song is a BOP
Agreeddd
At the time this song takes place, the capital of the USA was New York City, actually. The capital doesn't become Washington D.C. until later.
"Why do you assume you're the smartest in the room? Soon that attitude may be your doom."
LATER:
"I cannot equivocate on my opinion."
"Even if I said what you think I said..."
"I won't apologize for doing what's right."

omg I’ve been waiting so long for this! lol this is one of my top favorites from the whole show can’t wait for y’all to react to Act II 😬
Que buen final del acto 1
Omg I love this song so much
sosososo glad yall are back
Uh, did he say "murder trial"? Why do people just brush that off?!
I did because I was focused on the beat of the song

Peter Hollens has a Hamilton Medley and do the White House Performance of the Cast please.

Why was Maria there :( I don't want her there
