Hee, hee-ha! It doth make not a difference Rosella, your comment brought as much of a smile to my face as this song. Beautifully said! ..and now I have two smiles, thankyou & best wishes
I just want to show my appreciation for this video and song, I played it for my grandfather who used to sing this song to his kids and grandkids while he was passing on to the next life and it was during this song that he peacefully went. The importance of music in our lives is endless and forever. This was a gem of a performance and I thank you from the bottom of my heart😌
My 75 year old mother just fell and broke her hip and when she woke up from anesthesia she sung this all afternoon. I'd never heard her sing it before. This video brought us both so many good laughs as we sit together here in the hospital room
Thank you so much for this! My Grandmother would say in a sing song way, "the old gray mare ain't what she used to be" every time she'd stand up from a chair. Listening to your song was the first time I ever heard it to entirety! You made someone's granddaughter smile today. Thank you for that
This is incredible, I remember this song from a "Wee Sing" video I loved watching as a kid. But it didn't have all these lyrics & I didn't know there was more to it!
I was up at around 2AM making a cup of coffee and this song popped into my head. I'm 72. I laughed when I started singing it, I think because I had some pains in my body. I do not know when I learned this song as a youngster but it was still in the archives of my mind. Good old song from the past.
This was great. I call my old 1989 Toyota Pickup "The Old Grey Mare" Just changed the oil in her and went looking for this song as I'd been humming it as I worked.
Love it. The last I heard this I was a young kid and now I played it for my kids. There is so much that can be learned from those who have lived longer than we have. Thank you for this. Keep it up.
We sang the chorus growing up but I never heard the song in its entirety People said the phrase, "The old Gray Mare just ain't what she used to be" too when I was a kid. Said it to my own daughter, who never heard it so I sent her your version Jesse. I shared it with my oldest sister chatting with her on her birthday. I'm 56 (youngest of 6 children) and she turned 66 today. We both enjoyed your rendition. Just perfect for this song! She had never heard it all either.
I hurt my ankle earlier today and my boyfriend started singing this song. I had never heard it in my life. I thought he was making it up to poke fun at me for being 'crippled' and limping around 🤣🤣he said, 'no, it's a real song. Google it.' So I did and found this wonderful man's video...made me laugh the whole way through. Thank you, sir!
Wow! I just played this for my daughter and this man reminds me of my grandfather, gone in the ground for many years now. Thank you for this. Praying for more elders in our midst.
So great…. I love it! Wanted to find this to send to grown “kids” because you no longer hear this awesome, fun stuff! (And that cute, wicked little laugh near the end….priceless!😂)❤❤❤
Oh my gosh, this is so awesome. My mother-in-law used to say the old gray mare ain’t what she used to be, but I didn’t know all of this was attached to that song too.😂
I don't think I've heard this song we sang as kids 75 years ago, even though I lived through the folk music era of the 60s/70s with Pete Seeger and so many others. What really perked me up was the 'naughty' lyrics as we only used to sing the chorus and not much more.
Jesse, you've made my day. My grandfather used to sing this about his old work horse of a truck and I'd forgotten about it entirely until today when I found you singing it. It was like having a piece of him back for a few minutes.
That was wonderful, and so funny too :-) I'm just learning to play the mandolin and it's been such a fun adventure on TH-cam finding great folks like you who play old fashioned music that still sounds great nowadays :-)
I just searched this when I heard it on trombone champ… I never heard this song before but I heard the melody and recognized as a religious retake on the song called “the lords army” used to sing it in sunday school so I am happy to hear the familiar melody
not bad i was looking for the goodwill woman that found the old records but u poped up i dont know weather you are still singing but u need a band around u to fill things out u have a good voice good looks with the right group you'll shout to the stars God bless you you your beautiful.
Can somone help me...please ? I am a DJ and work events at many Senior Residences. One on them constantly asks me for this song. I really like THIS version and tied to find it to download on MP3. No luck... Please help me make the Seniors laugh. Thanks !
Just saw a Texas Historical Marker in Blum, TX last week, noting that the author of this piece, Gus Bailey, lived there in later life. Haven't been able to get this tune out of my head since then.
My Grandfather used to sing that song. However, the last verse was...Grandpa found that the old grey mare Pooped her underwear. He used to get scolded by grandma for singing it in front of us kids. I'm sure that there is an adult version hidden away somewhere.
This guy's giving it away for free
+Rosella Castano it's a Simpsons reference.
Hee, hee-ha! It doth make not a difference Rosella, your comment brought as much of a smile to my face as this song. Beautifully said! ..and now I have two smiles, thankyou & best wishes

He's not doing it right. He's still wearing pants.
Makes me want to drop my pants and shuffle around while singing.
My 97 year old mom was singing this song and I pulled this up and we enjoyed the song and had a good laugh.
You can tell he's a real old man because he has a stack of National Geographics back there.

Imagine dying this song. Poor guy
That’s very sweet Nancy and a sad moment at the same time, take care xo 💐
We used to sing this song at my church anytime it was someone’s birthday. In retrospect, probably not the best thing
My 75 year old mother just fell and broke her hip and when she woke up from anesthesia she sung this all afternoon. I'd never heard her sing it before. This video brought us both so many good laughs as we sit together here in the hospital room
ILOVE THIS SONG,BIT I WANT YO HEAR THE OLD GRAY MARE FLOATING DOWN THE DELAWARE PLEASE PLAY IT
I used to sing this to my daughter who is 30 now. These clowns who only know this song from the Simpsons kill me!
Thanks for recording!
Thank you so much for this! My Grandmother would say in a sing song way, "the old gray mare ain't what she used to be" every time she'd stand up from a chair. Listening to your song was the first time I ever heard it to entirety! You made someone's granddaughter smile today. Thank you for that
Sung this song for my mother at her 60th surprise birthday party. She gave me a nice whack upside my head. “I LOVE YOU MAMA!”
This is incredible, I remember this song from a "Wee Sing" video I loved watching as a kid. But it didn't have all these lyrics & I didn't know there was more to it!

I sing this to my wife every year on her birthday
This was great. I call my old 1989 Toyota Pickup "The Old Grey Mare"
Just changed the oil in her and went looking for this song as I'd been humming it as I worked.
The whole time i thought it was about an old horse reminiscing back in it's glory racing days.
Thankyou for the full song and context.
Love it. The last I heard this I was a young kid and now I played it for my kids. There is so much that can be learned from those who have lived longer than we have. Thank you for this. Keep it up.
Love his voice. He certainly sounds like a man from an earlier era.
Yes, such a beautiful voice.
That chuckle. Loved that chuckle.
I love this Grand Father! He is delightful 😊 This is the PG13 version of a classic. Bless him. I hope he is still 🙏 singing
I am a fan of The Crazy Old Man Singers.
i dont know anyting about this man. but the joy i hear in his voice makes me happy ands thats enough for me

Undeniably the best entertainment I’ve had since many long years ago.
I can't stop laughing, you are a comic man. So wonderful to see an older man loving his life like you seem too. Blessings to you my friend.

A few minutes I had to give as this was fantastic. Thanks sir. Will sing this all day long here in Scotland 🏴🇺🇸💪💪
People are so mean, I love this, everything about this is so pleasant
They're not being mean, they're quoting a ridiculous Simpsons episode.
Nobody's making fun of him. They're just quoting the Simpsons.
Thank you very much.
Even at my age, I like your ID.
Jesse Thompson
My Mom used to sing this "back in the day". Now I'm singing it. Thanks! Great job!
He done it wrong, his trousers are still up! 😂
So great…. I love it! Wanted to find this to send to grown “kids” because you no longer hear this awesome, fun stuff! (And that cute, wicked little laugh near the end….priceless!😂)❤❤❤

Jeb Stuart would sing this song in the civil war during the Battle of Chancellorsville. Fact.
"I've been playing for twenty minutes now and... I can't seem to find the end to this..." - Father Mulcahey

I don't think I've heard this song we sang as kids 75 years ago, even though I lived through the folk music era of the 60s/70s with Pete Seeger and so many others. What really perked me up was the 'naughty' lyrics as we only used to sing the chorus and not much more.

A nursing home resident taught me this song 💕
