Real music, from a good heart and deep soul. No drum machines, no auto tune, no multiple takes. Welles works for over a decade and makes no headway in music. Then he strips away everything. No band. No production values. No nice gear. He wandered into the woods with a funny old guitar so it's just pure, unadulterated Welles, and it's what we were all waiting for without even knowing it.
I will say it sounds like his voice is a little rougher and I can't help but wonder if something happened there, medically or just living too hard on the road or whatever LOL. As a singer, I'd imagine that can be pretty fucking devastating, And I hope that if he worried, He can rest assured now that he found a good Lane. That said, If it's just a way that he can work his voice and still has his more polished version, Good on him!
