      She had already put this plan out there before. It got no backlash then. Guess folks thought she was just talking. But actually making it happen has truly set the internet ablaze. For some reason, the use of the word “retire” seems to be the triggering part of it all.

      I agree with you, totally! I love watching Tabitha but I felt this way about her doing her father like that as well. When she purchased a brand new truck for him and put it all over social media. He was emotional, he didn’t know to handle that and it took him off guard, you could tell.Maybe, it’s just me but when you give someone a gift. Why does it have to be posted or shared with everyone? That is one thing if her dad wanted to post what he received and shared it but she did it. I am a woman and I get embarrassed sometimes when I am given a gift but to be a man and given a brand new truck and Tabitha told how he never could afford a new car. His cars were always used. That would hurt my pride and ego, if I were a man. I think Tabitha, did it with good intentions and she is proud of herself and accomplishments, which she should be but it is very emasculating to them.

    I hate to say this, but Wendy was right (in my view). Her delivery was off. She obviously triggered a lot of people, but she was right. Right message, wrong messenger. Also, masculine men don't have to be 'payed back', it's their job to provide without reservation. There are different ways of Showing support to masculine men without having to be their provider. I'll definitely enjoy her content and cheerful spirit and NOT look to her relationship as a model for my hypergamous life.

  • @thegirlof1983
    @thegirlof1983 3 ปีที่แล้ว +272

    I have been hypergamously married for over 10 years. I was disgusted by the reaction from the femininity community. Tabitha doesn’t bother anyone. She prays and makes her vegan foods. Just like we don’t want 50/50, other women have the right to choose their paths. I wouldn’t “retire” my husband, but if we had millions of dollars, I would gladly give him space and time to pursue “passion projects.” I would NEVER tell a soul about it. So many people take 60 seconds of your life and make huge assumptions.

    • @etamene11
      @etamene11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      excellent point. plus, he didn't have a cushy profession; facing few options, he became a police officer to provide for his family. And with that, his life was at risk every day. what loving wife wouldn't do what she did for her husband and her family, especially if the resource is available?

    • @africaine4889
      @africaine4889 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      She did say that at one point he was providing for the whole family when they were broke. So yes I would. There is a different between Man and man. You could marry a guy that does everything for u. What if he loses everything and you are doing good, wont you be there for him?? I would 100%.

    • @thegirlof1983
      @thegirlof1983 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @PancakesAnd Wine first off all, people did jump to assumptions about what she meant and her relationship. There are plenty of think pieces on the subject. Again, as Chloe said, mind your hypergamous business. If you wouldn’t retire your husband, then don’t 🤷🏽‍♀️. She was literally being bullied about a decision she made for her family and that’s not cool. Again, you don’t know me, yet you took my comment and made assumptions. I empower, educate and mentor other black women in nursing. I have no time nor interest in judging them. We get enough of that outside of our gender and race.

      This is what bothers me in the situation. Being a cop in LA is a dangerous profession. If we had millions, would I let my husband risk his life every day when I can help him transition towards another career? I am normally hypergamous to the core, but Tabitha Brown is right to retire her husband. I wouldn't however tell a soul.

    I think the way that Tabitha is describing her husband's retirement is strange. The average person would just say "My husband is retiring from the police force. And he'll be focusing on his non-profit".
    She keeps on stressing the fact that SHE retired her husband and that SHE wanted him to get a new career. Her husbands lack of enthusiasm about the process doesn't help.
    It's weird because she obviously wants the acknowledgment that he doesn't need to work because of her. But she also using condescending language to describe his journey. It just comes off strange the way she's articulating it. And her husband doesn't seem happy at all.
    She's making the world know that it was her money and career that they're using. But if you're married it's both of your money and assets together. So her making a public distinction of what she's accomplished and provided in comparison to her husband is just odd. Most married couples (healthily married couples). Don't publicly make that distinction.

    I was very conflicted by Tabitha's video. As she is quite likeable, this announcement was a step backwards for me. This move was a masculine move. I understand she is excited and is feeling blessed and loved and abundant.. Yet, like others I feel this was a private moment she should have only discussed and shared with her husband ans partner only! This role reversal just might the thorn in the side for her husband and push him into the arms of another woman. Women we must tread lightly. Men are ego centric, we should never show them up or out them without expecting them to waver and or leave. Privacy is everything, just as important as respect. Don't ever test that. I can’t believe how many judgmental and bitter women and probably husbandless women are commenting here. If you are a follower of Tab you would see her entire family participates in her success. She would not have accomplished anything without the support of her family. The video she posted was not a live video so her husband was well aware of her posting the video. Everyone seemed to have ignored how he has a non profit and will be running that and further giving back to the community. I used to be an avid follower of Wendy Williams and she is wrong on so many things. She can’t even keep straight who she is talking about half the time. She should be taken off tv for all the mistakes she makes. When you have true love and a PARTNERSHIP this is what happens…you do for each other to make the other persons life easier here on earth. I hope that all of you negative Nancy’s find true love and support. Does everyone have an opinion about it…yes but guess what your opinion does not matter in her life. What would have been better was if she announced that HE chose to retire and that she's very happy with that decision. Keep in mind, ladies, Chance has a pension which is GOLD and security in a working class situation. Tabitha also shared that he has his own nonprofit. And a successful nonprofit does not equate to poor. Nonprofits just need to implement meticulous accounting practices. Tabitha did put a target on her relationship because folks like Wendy are watching intently to find any cracks that can be exposed. Her and Chance have had very public conversations and has let the world into her family and life so it was probably coming from that same place where they felt they have opened up so many aspects of there life and wanted to share this milestone. Honestly to protect him and their union I probably would’ve changed the language and said “Chance is retiring” rather than putting it all on me so he can still keep his head up and stand as a man.
    Wendy is deeply hurt, she is comparing this from a deeply hurt and traumatic place so it’s definitely not the same.

      Excellent point! If you watch her on social media and how she speaks to him; if you saw how she boasted that she bought her father his first brand new car; if you listen carefully to his saying his identity and respect came from supporting his family ... it's clear that "My husband is retiring from his job as a police officer to build his empire in the non-profit sector, helping youth" is FAR more empowering for a man.
      Wendy is bitter and her comparison is faulty. But, I see her point. If you look at the significant increase in adultery by men whose wives greatly out-earn them, you know that this public display is not helping but likely adding to the risk.

    Wendy has learned way too late and now Ms Tabitha is making a mistake however Wendy before her marriage went to hell in a handbasket used to shame women on her show for wanting men who are providers.Shes not a friend of women she is a friend of the media.Instead of warning her fellow woman she enjoys seeing them go through what she went through.Its not what you say it’s how you say it.

    Chloe, before I watch your video or read the comments I want to share my take.
    1st: I understand what Tabitha is saying, he supported her for 15 years while she got her business up and running. Well he is her husband that’s what he is supposed to do!
    2nd I understand her concern with his being a police officer and her concern for his safety. I would be too.
    3rd, She put her business out there.
    Nobody:
    Tabitha: I’m retiring my husband.
    When you put your personal business out to the media, you are asking for scrutiny and comments. Why didn’t she lay in bed with her husband and say baby, this what I’m gonna do for you…and the two of them went on with their life.
    Wendy was doing what Wendy do. She has a gossip show, so I’m not going to blame her for the comments. Was Wendy projecting from her own failed marriage, absolutely! But Tabitha opened herself up for it.
    Finally, she has put out to the world that she intends to supports him for life. If they ever get divorced she has already set him up to keep living off her for the rest of his (and her) life.
    Social media has advantages and BIG disadvantages. People need to sit down and stop sharing all of their business.

      sometimes people get too excited and share then regret later. Its very hard at times to resist the urge to share your happiness, extremely hard.
      I'm not married yet, sometimes you get into a beautiful relationship... find yourself extremely happy with that partner and then fall into the temptation of posting about him and your beautiful romance.Only to separate in a few months or years.Its hard not to share I personally have to constantly fight off this urge and hv never posted m partner.
      Maybe she was extremely happy to finally be able to give back to her husband.We don't know what they have gone through as a couple, maybe.. just maybe she thought its time for her to make him happy and show the world how much she loves him

    Wendy may be bitter...but...I sincerely hope there's no B. Smith/Dan Smith ahead for Tabitha...men are hardwired to be the 'champ' in the relationship and I worry that Tabitha may be subconsciously looked at as the 'champ' vs her husband. That being said, I know men who are secure in their women doing things for them. I hope he is genuinely okay with this.
    Edit: I notice in their pictures, he is looking away and/or she is seated forward while he's leaning back. Just an observation. I also think perhaps this should've been kept offline.

    Wendy knows what’s going on. She’s been there. And I believe she sees what’s ahead. Hopefully not, but isn’t unusual! I don’t believe Wendy is being a hater or simply gossiping about others. I don’t think she’s jealous at all. I believe she’s speaking out to warn her and I believe it’s being done with the best intentions. She doesn’t know her personally so announcing this public ally on her show was just in the style of Wendy and the most convenient way to get her message across. 🤷🏽‍♀️Wendy knew she’d see her show. And she’s a straight shooter… a New Yorker. She holds no water! Says it how it is!

    To be fair both women were not nice. Okay we all know Wendy loves to give her opinion and most of the times she is not wrong. Wendy is just speaking out of her experience. And she really has experience dealing with a dusty man. One thing I can say about Tabitha. Behind that big smile is a very passive aggressive woman, someone who has a very strong mammy/masculine energy. See, a women who uses nice nasty and religion to get their point across are very dangerous. But it is her lesson to learn, her life to live. Some of us know that a true masculine man will never accept to be retired at such young age. Let’s not forget he was in a career that is respected by society and that made him feel important and respected by his peers.

    Great commentary Chloe. The comment section is 🤦🏾‍♀️....Two things can be true at the same time ladies, Wendy can have accurate points and still be bitter, miserable and projecting. Couldn't nobody tell her **** when she was with her husband, who her talents took care of and burned several bridges w/ppl just to keep up the facade of a marriage going, but now she gets to sit back and act like the wise mother goose? Critiquing, and criticizing everyone else? 🤔 Oh ok. She KNEW her man wasn't **** when she arrived home from the hospital with a newborn baby and caught her husband in a full on affair (her words) and still decided to stay, don't play innocent victim 20yrs later when the story unfolds and he does you as expected. Wendy was a whole crack/coke head but wants all the understanding and respect for her f*** up choices in life but has a hard time extending that same energy to others, especially women 🙄 Wendy is a very cynical, bitter, angry, unhappy woman no matter how much "truth" she speaks, her miserable spirit always manages to shine through, imo🤷🏾‍♀️

He has his own career to this day, and everything they have they bought together. Not to mention that she’s giving him an opportunity to expand his BUSINESS so he can bring MORE money to the family. It isn’t an excuse for him to sit on his ass like a pampered princess. BM are promoting this image, not including that part, and saying that women should be more open to being “head of households” while knowing nothing about what the ACTUAL endgame is.
