    THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! for showing how to clean up wireframe and putting it on another level. I struggled with that. The mask selection tools I knew, but the "change level" from the right click menu, I did not!! If you got Mastercam to sponsor the Titans of CNC Academy, then I predict that the Solidworks plug-in is next.

    Quick tip from someone who runs mastercam everyday. When you input the hole positions using coordinates, learners may benefit from using XYZ. Example, instead of (.15,-.15) it would be (X.15Y-.15). I found that really useful when learning.
    Also I know it wasnt effecting this video but when creating additional wire frame (the angled lines and rads in middle) it's good practice to lock in 2D rather than 3D so no geometry can snap to a different Z height and mess up your chaining.

    • @flr169
      @flr169 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @wildin13 how do you get the XY origin that Titan snaps to , to start the rectangle ??

    • @wildin13
      @wildin13 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@flr169 he is using the auto cursor features. You can see this menu when creating wireframe at the top of the graphics screen (it's slightly faded until you hover over it). The auto cursor menu let's you select what specific type of feature you want to "snap" to (end point, mid point, arc center...) but there should be a small cog next to that drop down menu where you can set the default features to limit what it automatically tries to find. What titan used was the world origin (X0,Y0,Z0)

      Got it to work
      Funny thing I followed that video step by step and things still didn't work like it did on Titans end
      For example on his Levels page I have different amount of entities compared to him. Maybe I'll go back and do it all over to see if I did something wrong
      Also when creating the toolpaths for the pockets I get errors.

    • @wildin13
      @wildin13 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikeberlinquette9896 it may depend on the configuration you're using. You can customise default settings quite alot to each user's preferences. He may have different settings to you. As regards to the errors when generating toolpaths, once again could be a number of things. When it opens the toolpath mastercam will auto fill entry fields and alot was skipped over in this video. Some fields may have a value too large/small for the cutter/pocket size. Also errors could be caused by the tool dimensions. Make sure there are no redundant dimension when creating a tool.

      The videos are awesome but I think they need to start with helping to set the software and maybe a tutorial on understanding the work around a bit.
      When I did all the fusion tutorials i found the same problems ...I spent hours and hours researching and trying to find the right video to help. Sometimes it's tough to dedicate all those hours, work and family time
      I spent 4 months in the hospital last year so I used that time to pound in the hours and hours to learn Fusion ...

    Excellent effort to teach another software, but Fusion 360 has the best approach for educational purposes: Windows and ios native versions, 2, 3, 4 & 5 axis support, open post processors to train students in real programming and customization, cloud based, solid modeling, sheet metal, Finite Element Analysis, etc. All in one software with really no limits in educational version. As always, thank you TITAN for developing the best training materials. CAM software, any brand, is a tool but you make the difference because of your passion for this trade and educational point of view.

      We still teach Fusion360 and are editing videos right now... but we are coming out with an Aerospace Academy and Mastercam is ITAR compliant and amazing for high Level Machining.

    • @COdrummaCO
      @COdrummaCO 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can’t technically really use Fusion in a ITAR situation. Any real money aerospace jobs, fusion technically cannot do them because of their cloud storage system.
      MasterCAM you can store your files locally instead.

    Titan, I'm assuming Solidworks is the preferred method for designing/drawing parts and then opening these in Mastercam for the CAM? I've been learning Solidworks and trying to get my feet wet with MC but MC looks a bit clunky for CAD? Would it be an accurate guestimate to say that? I'm moving over from Fusion 360 to SL/MC. Fusion has streamlined the process and is great for the 80%... but in streamlining, they have taken the artists ability to truly control intricate tool paths... and Fusion is not ITAR. So Mastercam is Amazing for the top 20% and allows you to make incredible tool paths for companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin.
