Wow, functional art! Beautiful! Really great story abiut your dad, too. Sounds kike a rrally interesting guy! I'm sorry for your loss. It's hard losing a father... I'll own a Tommi one day. And I'm sure it will kick the butt of every other bushcraft knife I own! Lol! But I feel the same way about my Nordic Knife Design Korpi 85 right now. That thing is amazing on soft wood. It is a feather sticking boss. Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Yes indeed. Im so in love the Tommi Puukko Might be the pinnacle of general Puukko design. Also goddamn capable. Whats not to love! Thanx for watching!🌲🔪🌲
Just received my NEW Tommi-Puukkoby Risto Mikkonen, it's EVERYTHING you said it was and more! I'm extremely impressed! I purchased it from Lamnia in Finland! They are an excellent source of fine knives! Thank you again for the recommendation! I am very happy with it! Posted on some of the Facebook Puukko Pages! Love it!
Im really happy to hear you like it!!! It really is a great one. I’ve used and collected Puukkos well over 30 years, and have to say The Tommi-Puukkos might be for me the pinnacle of the Puukko design in general. Already thinking of buying another one😂😂. Enjoy your Puukko, and have a fantastic day!!🌲🔪🌲
I have been wanting a quality Original Finnish Puukko for years now but could never decide the one best suited for my needs. You just introduced me to that very knife and I will soon be buying one! Thank you for such an informative view of this knife! 👍👍
You're welcome. I was actually even myself surprised how much blown away I was of the blade. Though pricy, totally worth it imo. Thanx for watching! 🌲🌲🔪🌲🌲
Oh! Saw this only now in my unanswered comments section. Hmm didnt get notification, or just missed it. Thank you for your condolences. He often comes to mind apparently when making these videos, as we did so much outdoor stuff together etc... Now after about 3 weeks use with Tommi, loving it even more! Though very beautiful, classy but it just screams to be used. Like the GNS! These two are my favorites at the moment! Thanx for watching, and have great day! Kiitos paljon🌲🔪🌲
Just ordered mine from Lamnia! I've been wanting a QUALITY Puukko for some time now but was completely clueless as to which ones are the better knives! Thank you for the guidance!
I greatly enjoyed your review of the Tommi-Puukko. You do a great job on all your videos - they are interesting and provide lots of good information & insight. I just received a shipment of knife parts from Finland to Canada (including rhombic blades), so your timing was perfect for posting the Tommi video. Thanks for posting. Cheers.
I'm in Borneo, far from Finland. And so I made myself, not 1 but 2 Puukkos.. maybe a hybrid but inspired by the simplicity and practicality of the Finnish Puukko.
I like the knife. And that you like it 😉, it's part of your tradition and its worth keeping it that way. I am a sheep farmer from Bulgaria, no survival or bushcraft for me, thanks. However, if I have to choose one and only one knife to kill, skin and debone an animal, instead of my set of 5 knives that use - it's this knife, no doubts or hesitations. Not least - beautiful and it counts!
Wow, Bulgaria! Nice! Yeah, Traditional Puukkos were used actually a lot to hunting(skinning deboning etc. and fishing also. I used few old puukkos more than 20 years all the time for fishing. They are great at those tasks as well. And I do think they are at best ver very beautiful objects! Thanx for watching!🌲🔪🌲
Looks very interesting. I have been looking for a good knife for many years. I have a number of them, but something more traditional...That's why I have been a surcharge for the Funniest puukko.rosselli, Marttiini.
I love this knife. I have used Puukkos over thirty years. And this in my very top of all. Tommi-puukkos in general. Such a legendary design. Thanx for watching, and have agreat day!🌲🔪🌲
@@dylanhenderson842 there are of course loooots of nice Puukko designs. So Im not saying what is absolute best (look f.e. my review of Jari Liukko puukko, insane. My most special puukko). What I love with Tommi puukkos is the High and Rhombic scandi (it has to be Rhombic, otherwise its not Tommi). Beautiful oval handle, the beautiful sheath design, the history etc. Its one of the best grinds for wood work that I have honestly
@@OldForestBushcraft Thank you. My knowledge is far inferior to yours when it comes to these puukkos so im just looking for guidance. I have Been using a Mora for a while now so im looking to upgrade and have no idea where to start and just came across your video.
Great video! Do you know what exact steel Risto uses for that knife? On the Lamnia it says "Silversteel", but the term refers to a wide range of steels.
I tried to check it out, but honestly dont know beyond the silversteel. Has held nicely the edge, have been quite happy about it, though I’m really not a steel nerd. I love 3v, but im also very happy with more average steels.. Thanx for watchin, have great day!🌲🔪🌲
@@OldForestBushcraft I received mine last week, and so far, I have had a great experience. I would buy it no matter what steel it's made of, but I'm curious now. It resists corrosion and patina very well compared with Brisa Kephart. 80CrV2 gets patina just from you looking at it 😀
I just got an update from Lamnia. For anyone interested, the steel is Silversteel 1.2210 (C (carbon) 1.2%, Cr (chromium) 0.7%, V (vanadium) 0.1%, Si (silicon) 0.25%, Mn (manganese) 0.30%.) It's pretty good high-carbon steel.
Good question! I think there most certainly is, but I just dont own one. Actually dont see that often Puukkos with this qeometry. Well definitely not with Rhombic. But f.e Eräpuu does high scandis, Iisakki järvenpää, some Brisa scandis ( going to get the Trooper at some point, looks like a very nice grind on that one). Well many puukkos out there with a nice high scandi. Sorry I cant be of more help! Cheers🌲🌲🔪🌲🌲
@@OldForestBushcraft Good suggestions thank you. The highest one I have is the Iisakki Järvenpää Juhlavuolu , beautiful knife . I guess I need a knife from Kajnuu 😊.

You can get these from Lamnia shop from Finland. They ship to US also I believe..
