Anyone saying NSMBDS is the best one likely hasn’t played it in years. It really hasn’t held up well at all. Wii and especially U honestly trounce DS in terms of level design. DS actually has some genuinely bad design, such as secrets requiring powerups that aren’t even in a stage. Also, it’s way too easy. It might have the most unique bosses and the best soundtrack, but I’ll take a better game over something with more ‘wow factor’ any day.
@@callinater6133 yeah exactly, only thing it's really got is bosses and mario vs luigi, other then that there's no reason to play it over any of the others
@@MARIOH826 yeah…and I’m aware this is an unpopular opinion but I actually think NSMBU (and Luigi U, they compliment each other well) is the best 2d mario ever in terms of gameplay and level design. Heck I’d go as far as to say it’s got arguably the best core gameplay and level design of any 2d platformer…in a vacuum… as it’s definitely a hard game to feel much affection for, given how much it unapologetically reuses assets, music and ideas from the previous games. It doesn’t help that it’s quite a lot shorter and much less pleasant to look at than the other AAA modern 2d platformers (i.e Rayman and DK). I do enjoy how compact it is though as it makes the game very replayable! Wonders obviously an amazing game too and I look forward to it being in Mario maker 3, though I find it harder to revisit because I feel like too many of the gimmicks get in the way of the platforming.
@@callinater6133 yeah that's fair enough, I do agree with you though I think luigi u is the best 2D mario game and it's also my favourite. I think critically looking at it I'd say Wonder is probably the best but I personally think the challenge and fast pace gameplay of luigi is better.
@@MARIOH826 that’s cool. I suppose it depends on what you want out of it all, as I think its ambition in changing up the gameplay a lot makes it ‘less solid’ as a pure platforming package. Though I think its willingness to try something new will leave people with a better impression than NSMBU. What I REALLY want now is a galaxy 2-style sequel to wonder that puts more emphasis on platforming and harder levels while expanding on the mechanics and gimmicks in wonder, kinda like what Galaxy 2 did for the first Galaxy.
@@MARIOH826 btw, if you haven’t yet. I strongly recommend you play NSMBU’s challenge mode! It’s got bar none the hardest content in the entire mainline series. Some of the 5 star challenges are pretty close to kaizo territory imo.
Don't know how this popped up on my recommended but W video
Thank you
"Lost levels sucks, you dont know it"
Me who has beaten it 5 times to get that stupid A-D worlds:
@@DaAstronauty I've done that to like ages ago 😂
