This is the best explanation of textures that I have ever seen. Thanks for specifically talking about how this isn’t racial or ethnicity based. Usually all the examples of type 4 hair show African American hair, which doesn’t represent my hair, but it is definitely more curly/coily than what is shown as type 3. Also thanks for talking about how your hair isn’t the same everywhere, it makes everything make much more sense.Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
I am mixed so I have multiple hair type and have no clue what to do with my hair. I had relaxers put on my hair for over 20 years and now I'm a grown woman trying to learn what to do with natural hair. The frustration is real. In summary...where have you been all my life?! Haha. P.S. I love your hair and the style.
Thanks for the hair samples. You are a woman who knows her craft! I have one small section of hair different from the rest, it is very fine hair and shiny, a definitely wave/curl from your samples it must be 3b hair. I realize now that the rest of my hair is 2b or 2c. Even if I roller set the 3b on large rollers it keeps a wave/curl.The rest of my hair has trouble holding a roller set curl for very long, the curl falls out and I just have a couple of big waves. No chemicals or straighteners in over 40 years. Some color but I have 9 months of no color root growth. Wish I knew how to tame the waviness of the type 3a/b section without blow drying or help the type 2b/c hair to keep more of it’s curl. Any suggestions to get a more uniform look without blow drying?
You would need to stretch out your tighter curls with either a roller or roll your looser curls to be tighter even dry rolling it would help (meaning without foam if you don’t want to). Also loose rope twists (or two strand twists on dry hair) will help you keep more uniform curls.
