This guy just played EVERY PART in 'Hey Nineteen' by himself, at the same time. I think he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, an Oscar, or at least a pizza (with unlimited toppings)!
You said it. Non musical people don't realise, he played an abstract song with abstract chords, melody and harmony all in one and still was smiling. This is no ordinary feat. His brain has to be preserved!
To the audience member audibly laughing at the beginning, I can relate. I often involuntarily laugh out loud when confronted with masterful musicianship. Not a choice, just an honest reaction.
WTF... It took Steely Dan multiple musicians to produce this song and he just performed the whole song on the guitar! Amazing musical talent right there!!!
know what i see? an artist that has his love of music prioritized over his ego by far. maybe because of that, he might not ever be big and hugely famous...but he will always be a great human!
OMG . . this amazing young man is incredible! Wow!! I see a kid with an acoustic guitar saying he will play "Hey Nineteen" and so I gotta click on that and I was just stunned and blown away! I"m a huge Steely Dan fan, so know this song very well. Unbelievable!
Hey Nineteen is already a difficult piece to play right with a full band, so playing it right alone is just insane ! Kudos to Kent, great work ! ! If you like this kind of arrangement, check Nathaniel Murphy, he's incredible too !
He's playing a high end acoustic guitar that plays like butter. It's nearly as easy to play as an electric guitar. However, to your point, attempting that piece or any piece on a $200 beater with high action will be a different road experience entirely.
Hey Nineteen is a very sophisticated song. To play all the parts on solo acoustic guitar tales extraordinary talent and very deep understanding of composition, and transcription. 10 out of 10

Outstanding! The natural groove and flow in his playing style makes it sound like the tune was originally written on guitar. Quite an accomplishment. 👏
One of the marvels of this is that he’s refurbished, refreshed the song for me. I’m hearing it again as the great song it is after radio play made me kinda blase about it.
Just when you think you've seen it all, a guy like this comes around and opens the mind to a whole new level of playing. A supremely executed, relentlessly staggering, creative performance. I hope Tommy Emmanuel has seen this.
"That's 'Retha Franklin She don't remember the Queen of Soul It's hard times befallen The sole survivors She thinks I'm crazy But I'm just growin' old"
The audience response was criminally poor. If I was the only one in the room, I would have made more noise of appreciation than that. Good golly miss molly, the ovation should have last until today! Outstanding.
Don't forget, this was one song early in the set and we were all blown away. Also, bunch of old farts. Trust me, by the end of the show Kent knew how much we appreciated him. During the intermission everyone was expressing their adulation to him one on one.
Very rear moment of musical delight in my very long life.... 👏👏👏👏💖Still cannot believe that whole arrangement is only by single man with single guitar 😯
Never ceases to blow my ears and mind with his playing and sense of feel. The whole damn song and every instrument comes to life in an impossible way, and he damn well makes it looks so easy ! Thats a sign of a master. I still cant even imagine the song that well. Well done Kent, thank you
I’ve been practicing guitar for 2 and a half years now without missing a single day, and after seeing this, I realize that I’m still very much a beginner…Awesome job young man 👏
Sweet, nice'n clean. Been a fan of Steely Dan since I first heard Reeling in the Years. It was right after the album was released. A neighbor in the apartment next to the one that I was in had just got the LP. He was having beers with a few friends and the music was coming in from the open windows. I really didn't know any one of them, but I knocked on the door anyway. Told them that I had to know who was making that unique sound. The guy invited me in and handed me a cold one. There might have been a bong involved as well.... It was springtime in New Hampshire, and it don't get much better than that.
That's a nice arrangement. And you didn't obfuscate the music with showmanship. Execution is flawless. The voices have great separation. Very believable. Well done.
I want to shout out to 2buzzed. I was so amazed by Kent Nishimura that I forgot to give you kudos and thanks for the recording. Good job on the sound quality. Thank you for sharing this amazing artist with us!
Steely Dan is one of my favourites Kent, you playing it is just the icing on the cake and we are so privileged to be able to enjoy your artistry and undeniable mastery of the song to your desire!!!❤
Compré el disco de vinilo pequeño, 45 r.p.m. cuando salió al mercado, ( no recuerdo el año)ya que quedé impresionado y ahora oigo la banda en una guitarra. Que gran talento! Gracias
I've been playing for over 30 years, and this guy has inspired me to put all my guitars in a pile and burn them.
Pretty much all of the guitar players in attendance expressed a similar sentiment.
😂
😂😂😂. He’s amazing!
that's just really sad. you'd think he inspired you to practice more.
I’m inspired to work on pickup winding, and some crazy wiring schemes. Can’t play like that, but maybe I can make the perfect pickup.
This guy just played EVERY PART in 'Hey Nineteen' by himself, at the same time. I think he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, an Oscar, or at least a pizza (with unlimited toppings)!
Camera work was well done in capturing a performance of a dude that came to play like nobody’s business…..damn!
And he can play it live.
Unlimited indeed, like his playing.
Glad you're not overreacting or anything
@@pawlowski6132: You mean with the unlimited toppings? I agree, that’s a bit much!
His brain must be preserved and studied when he’s done with it. Extraordinary!! Kudos young man.
You said it. Non musical people don't realise, he played an abstract song with abstract chords, melody and harmony all in one and still was smiling.

Major dude's style just flows like cuervo gold.
The fine Colombian
Any major dude would agree. I'm reeling in the ears.
Dude made tonight a wonderful thing

Holy fucking shit. This dude needs to do the album “Aja” - I will personally help him raise money to do it
You're first comment. YES!!!
he did a cover of Aja, drum solos included! look i up in youtube
I'm in too. Crowdfund an LP
Good news, he already has and you can buy it now! Look for the album Kent Nishimura "2" (2017 -- he was 14!!!!!!!!!) ... it is ridiculously good
@@MrBudd0y I cannot get over that cover. it's insane and he did it at age 14. how even?!

Saw him live in Tokyo last year at a small club & he is incredible and such a nice young man!
This guy, Kent, is a MAJOR dude or a king of the world. Wow.
What a groove! Not to mention all the other skills happening here. Just an amazing musician!
Hey Nineteen is already a difficult piece to play right with a full band, so playing it right alone is just insane ! Kudos to Kent, great work ! ! If you like this kind of arrangement, check Nathaniel Murphy, he's incredible too !
There are bands that wouldn't try this song.
Playing all those jazz chords on an acoustic guitar is impressive enough, but doing it with this style and fluidity is awesome.

I would pay top dollar to see this guy !!!!!!
This absolutely the best version of this I've ever heard, including the original!
I never cease to be amazed by the INCREDIBLE guitarists that youtube keeps showing me. Just wow

Thank you!
Beautiful! Great arrangement great technique BUT most importantly taste and groove
Think his Dad locked him in a dingy basement with a metronome for 17 hours a day when he was a kid ? This kid is unreal …
Absolutely Awesome. That is a very complex song to do and he does it Masterfully, what a talent!!!!!!
You have got to be kidding me. This is inconceivable.
Princess bride:)
Makes tonight a wonderful thing ❤
Outstanding! The natural groove and flow in his playing style makes it sound like the tune was originally written on guitar. Quite an accomplishment. 👏
Kent is a genius. Incredible technique.
This guy needs to be planning a world tour and record deals.
Mastery - just music, no obvious technical seams. Love it.
There is Good, there is Great, and then, there is Kent!
Kent is a monster player. No one can touch him at what he does. He also has fantastic taste (and courage) in what he chooses to arrange and perform.
One of the best drummers I've seen on TH-cam ;)
Beautiful! To hear Steely Dan's music played on solo guitar was just jaw-dropping!
He really remembers who's the Queen of Soul! :)
One of the marvels of this is that he’s refurbished, refreshed the song for me. I’m hearing it again as the great song it is after radio play made me kinda blase about it.
It is amazing how often it happens kent gets his hands on a song. I can listen to his versions over and over as if they were fresh.
@@juantimer yeah, it seems so. I just discovered him but I see what you mean.

Hey nineteen is my favorite Steeley Dan song and this rendition, with its jazz vibe is mesmerizing! Awesome !!!
that is genius, kent. My eyes almost fell out of my head watching what you were able to pull off.
this player is becoming legendary!
Fantastic rendition... and live too!
Brilliant Kent!! Great feel! TE
Nice to see you here, Tommy! :D
Can't wait to see you in Bergen in November!
Band in box! I've been playing 45 years and this greatly inspires me that ANYTHING is possible and renews my faith that I can go much farther.
I can tell he’s been practicing a lot!!
I've never seen anything like it! Bravo Bro!

Unbelievable!! Kent, never stop; your talent never ceases to amaze me- wishing you a blessed life
Thanks, Kent! It's always a great escape losing myself in your renditions. 👏 👏 👏
Incredible. I hope to see Kent live one day.
Martin Scorsese: THIS is cinema.
Appears to be in an alternative tuning that allows him to play the bass line in the chord structure. Drop D ? This man is amazing.
Correct. He explains one of his tunings at one point but I don’t think I was recording at that point.
The audience response was criminally poor. If I was the only one in the room, I would have made more noise of appreciation than that. Good golly miss molly, the ovation should have last until today! Outstanding.

Good to hear! I gave up on gigging for lack of appreciation and I'm a garden slug in comparison.
This makes me really glad I gave up guitar. Now I don't have to feel horrible about my playing anymore when I see incredible stuff like this.
Very rear moment of musical delight in my very long life.... 👏👏👏👏💖Still cannot believe that whole arrangement is only by single man with single guitar 😯

Brilliant. You can't teach that. And trust me, im a guitar and piano teacher !!
I thought I knew how to play.......I might need to find another hobby. You are an amazing player! Thanks for sharing this.
who else considered themselves half decent guitarists until they saw Kent play 😁
I’ve been practicing guitar for 2 and a half years now without missing a single day, and after seeing this, I realize that I’m still very much a beginner…Awesome job young man 👏
Legendary is right! The skill and judgement to always stay in the song!
CwaZy good🤪💝🎼🔆🤘🏼‼️
Kent, you are THE MAN!
Wow. Nothing more to add.
My dude! Wow. I was 19 when this bulleted, so was she. ❤
Fawnky! And beautiful and amazing.
Masterful, funky, and beautiful. Nicely done, Kent
A joy to behold! Well done Kent.

Who would have thought you could do a credible cover of that track on one solitary acoustic guitar ? Not me, but KM makes it real. Excellent.
WOW OH WOW OH WOW! This is incredible!!

Love your playing, feel and arrangements so much. You are continually raising the bar guitar in general, and acoustic guitar in particular.

absolutely superb arrangement, amazingly done on one acoustic. Muchos enjoymento...
Only you Ken!!!! Fantastic 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Do you even know how good you are? Your casual approach to something so complicated is very cool. Well done
What captivating musicianship, he should perform with the original artist’s !
This guy is so amazing. I have been poking for content where he says a limitless something about what he’s is playing like this video,
. Thanks
2:44 - "Nice."
The multi-tasking Guitarist plays every part at the same time, Incredible!!! Enjoyable!! Remarkable!!!✌❤🤗
