I don't know how well I can explain it, but the release is controlled by the "finger" that holds the bobbin down on the winder when engaged. You need to adjust that finger away from the bobbin to allow more thread to wind before it pops up. I hope this helps!

The Bobbin Winder on my 15-90 pops up too soon. Any ideas on how to fix that?
