I've had excellent luck with the product. recommended by other sewing machine restorers. It didn't leave any negative residual hazing or marks. It cleaned old oil and nicotine from the machine beautifully. Not sure why you didn't have success.

Thats my machine , my mom & dad bought me this machinr and it came with sewing classes . I had sewing lessons with my Mom at Sears. The sewing lessons were every Saturday morning upstairs at Sears. That was the best sewing class ever, taught how to use the machine and all the stitches.. we had samples and teacher wrote what to do beside the stitching sample.. i still have this bag and refer to these samples from time to time.. . My machine sews almost every day and sews so perfectly..

I have this sewing machine, I’m missing the shuttle

Any tips on trouble shooting tension for a complete beginner on this machine? I have a 4 thread one and started with making all threads pull manually rather “easily” before starting sewing.. what is a good base line starting point. With no guide tension numbers, it is difficult to know where to begin.

I have a Singer 298 FashionMaker from the '80s. All metal. And very few seem to know about it. Only the cams are plastic. Looks closest to the 316G based on the videos I've seen. Maybe also the 224y and 306k. Have you worked on a 316G? I have a problem of the needle hitting the back of the hole and can't find a way to align it front-back. Does anyone here know the purpose of the red button on the bottom right? At my Pfaff 1222 it is broken and fell into the machine and I wonder if I need this button after all...??

I am from Singapore and my elderly mother (who is 73 years old) fondly uses her vintage treadle sewing machine that she bought in 1984. My mother recently encountered an issue where the thread breaks suddenly while she is sewing and is trying to troubleshoot it herself. While mulling over it, she asks me to find out on the Internet how she should "rest" the sewing machine when it is not in use. She asks if the tension lever (I'm not sure what it is called) should rest loose (up) or tight (down) when she is done using the sewing machine, or would it not matter at all?

I’m a newbie so I appreciate this very much. Thank you for helping me to not be afraid of the mechanical parts of my sewing machine.
