the Enterprise really poured on the hurt to those 'Birds of Prey' I still find it hard to believe she was taken down by 1, even unshielded she should have been able to take enough punishment to destroy 1.
Agreed whilst it has to be said this game is no where near canon. I'm sure the Enterprise could have taken out a single bird of prey with phasers alone. Let alone a full spread of torpedos.
That's one thing I always hated about the movie. It was very clear they were in serious trouble yet RIker decides to timidly fire a couple of phaser shots at it with do basically nothing. Then he comes up with some convoluted plan to destroy them with a single torpedo when he should have immediately unloaded on them like a ton of bricks destroying them within seconds. That ship could have fired probably 10-20 torpedos in rapid succession combined with phasers it'd be over very quickly and they STILL could have had the ship be destroyed due to lucky hits. The only thing that saved the entire scene was the evacuation and crash landing sequence which was amazing.
@@squirrelsinjacket1804 my friend once timed it and said to me the enterprise could have unloaded 20, so I complete agree with you, but man it really hurts me watching that movie. and yes your right the evacuation and crash landing is amazing.
@@squirrelsinjacket1804 I couldn't agree more. I suspect they always wanted to Destroy the D, to move on to the next era. And this contrived way was the only way they thought they could do it within budget. It just ended up being an unfitting and disrespectful end to one of TNG's cast members.
@@jefferygeter4998 I think we're all agreed that they didn't do the D justice at all. I personally could have accepted it, if the ship that did the damage was a Romulan warbird. But not an ageing BoP😅
always wondered how the battle between the Ent D and the klingons at archer 4 really went. I know Riker mentioned it during the yesterdays enterprise episode, that they gave them a pasting.
Yes, and it really was in passing too. I was watching TNG episode "The Mind's Eye" yesterday. Where the enterprise is temporally blockaded by two BoP and a K'vort, I might run a simulation around that too.
@@annoraner4696 the models in Bridge Commander are balanced for gameplay not so much for canon accuracy. So even with no shields and 30% weapons. The battle wouldn't last long enough to justify the time needed to edit and upload the video.
You’ve completely missed the point of the battle of Veridian III The enterprise had no shields. To simulate that, you need to take your shield generator down. You will then find that even 2 BoP becomes hard, just like the movie.
@@timrice9444 thanks for your feedback. But I'm not a television network. I run what if scenarios for fun. The Enterprise didnt face 7 Bird of Prey either. The setup at Veridian III is just a basis for the battle, I was testing how many Bird of Prey would be needed to destroy the Generations version of the USS Enterprise D. It's really not that deep.
Battle from yesterday’s enterprise would be fun to see. Galaxy vs x3 kvorts
@@technosaurus9389 I'll add it to the list

25 type 12 phaser arrays? That's definitely off lol.

No multi targeting in this version?

the best way to defeat cloaked ships is to use your tractor beam if the beam is lock on they won't cloak since they will lose their shields.
I'll have to give that a go, thanks for the tip
I would like see the Enterprise D vs 1 Klingon BoP without Shields, and only 30% power to weapons.

I think 7 may still be doable with some luck
I still believe the same. But I lost count, the amount of times I retried this battle and failed.
