- How to - "Bible Journaling" - is a step by step tutorial on using paper napkins to produce 10 Bible Journal Pages. This is a beginners project but experienced crafters will find inspiration in this video. This a a fast, easy and economical way to Bible Journal.

I have a easier way to try it. Put your mod podge down and let it dry completely then add the napkin. Use parchment paper and a iron and go over the napkin. It works and gets any wrinkles out as well. Thanks for sharing this is very creative.
That might be easier on a flat surface, but my book has items other than napkins in it that create lumps and bumps, so it would not have a smooth surface for the iron, but thank you for your suggestion.

I follow several bible journalers - you should NEVER use mod podge in books that close up. In certain climates it will glue the pages together. It’s recommended to use matte gel medium as prep and adhesive. It’s not worth the risk using mod podge.
The reason I use a watered down mod podge is to stop it from sticking. Probably a 2 parts water to 1 part mod podge. If that is not thin enough I add more water. I find when the mod podge is thick yes it does stick the pages together. If I don't get the consistency right but still have water in it the pages stick a bit but still come apart. Thank you for your advise Carolyn, I am sure others who have the option of using both will much appreciate this information. In my next video I will discuss this so that people will better understand why I use watered down mod podge and what their other options are. Have a great week.
@@judywest-thepaintingnana9434 I would never take the chance. A relative lives in many different climates - humidity is a killer for mod podge in a book. I would hate for someone to create a beautiful page then have it rip or stuck together due to poor prepping suggestions. I’m sorry if that’s harsh, but I trust the advice of those who have experimented with all the mediums for bible journaling and know what is best. It’s not mod podge for closed books.
@@carolynhartwig8974 I understand what you are saying but I live in QLD, Australia and the humidity here is unbelievable and a wet humidity so would definitely stick pages. As I said I can open the pages easily but it is up to the individual what they prefer and can afford.

Hi Judy I love reading my Bible and taking notes and putting stickers on my Bible I have a world bible school study edition journaling bible can I write in it with a pompom pen ❤
I am sorry I do not know what a pompom pen is. I use a Sakura Pigma Micron Black to write in my Bible. I use a very fine tip so it does not show on the other side of the thin pages.

Mod Podge is a Plaid product. I use the Matte finish! I hope that answers your question.
What beautiful way to use up old odd napkins and make your Bible so beautiful. Can you tell me what cutting tool you are using please.
If I want a rough finish I peal the layers off the napkin and wet a paintbrush and draw a line on the napkin and tear. If I want a straight cut I use scissors and do not peal the layers off until I have finished cutting.

Hi, Judy…I’m Cindi, from WV (USA) and I just stumbled upon you (and subscribed)! I am getting things together to begin Bible journaling with my 2 youngest granddaughters, and using napkins is one thing I wanted to do with them! I thought I would start with the easiest things that will give them a great feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction! I don’t cover writing, either, if I can help it…however, the Bibles I use for journaling are not my study Bible or Bibles I read regularly. So….any videos I can use with my sweet girls that you can recommend are appreciated!! I will check out your other videos…thank you!

So beautiful 😍 are you able to write on top of the dried napkins?
Some markers will bleed if you write on top. I use a Sakura Pigma Micron Black Marker and us a size 005 or 01 as that is the finnest line and therefore if it does bleed then it will be minimal. I have made a little journal with napkin borders I will be putting up in the future and I doodled over the top of the napkins with those markers and they came out great. Hope this is helpful Bobby. I decoupage with napkins on all sorts of things Sherry so you should be easily able to decoupage the cover. Glad you liked this video...God bless you too.

where do you find all your napkins without having to buy to many? I am a beginner and I love this idea.

I think the crinkly pages are beautiful. I love the sound of them and it reminds me of some a bit of medieval manuscripts 🙌🏼❤️😊 🎨

Mod Podge is a glue, sealer and varnish in one, which is perfect for decoupage and other arts and crafts. No I have not Chrissy.
When I am crafting I hard used my low voltage setting on my iron to press and smooth the back side of the page. It took out the wrinkles. I was using a tissue paper. Do you think it would work on our bible paper? My bible is exactly like yours.
I am not sure Glen. The bible is a heavy book and the pages are so light and thin it will be awkward. I am quite happy with the finished results in my bible and so would not consider ironing them and take the risk of damaging the page, but if you try it let me know how you go.

Thanks for sharing your technique. It looks lovely. I personally couldn't cover any of the words unless I was totally sure I could read it easily. I hadn't thought of decorating a Bible before, but think it is lovely, especially ephasising special verses. I also like the idea of adding your bible study notes on a seperate sheet with washi tape. excellent idea. thanks God bless

When you water down your mod podge, what is the ratio of water to mod podge❓
My Mod Podge was old and lost moisture so it had thickened up. I wanted it a bit thinner consistency so it was not too thick for the thin napkins and bible pages. If your Mod Podge is new then the consistency will probably be OK.

These are beautiful. What do you use to cut the napkins? Exacto life?
A pair of scissors of an exact straight cut or brush, water and tear for a rought cut.
Wet a fine paint brush and very little water then trace around.

what bible is this with such wide columns?
It is called a journaling bible Cathy. This particular one is "King James Version, Personal Reflections Edition, A wide-margin Bible for artists, doodlers, poets and journalers".
I don’t understand why you would put this in your Bible Doesn’t it obscure the verses?
I try my best not to cover the verses. I buy bibles with space to do the decorating. The early hand written bibles we all decorated. They were called Illuminated Manuscripts. Some people like decoration and others don't.
