Wow. I’m a guy who’s really interested in Bible Journaling. After watching dozens of videos with all sorts of creative journaling containing excessive flowers, unicorns, hearts, rainbows etc, I finally found YOUR video. Every one of your media’s is so creative and non repetitive! I love that you used cars and architecture and all kinds of things that are not just a flower shop exploded onto a Bible page! Mindy, WOW!!! All this creativity is just amazing! All your journaling and art have really inspired me this year. I pretend I have artistic skills, then actually just end up copying ideas I see. Blank pages absolutely intimidate me, so I can stare at a blank page for minutes on end and nothing comes to mind on how to begin. So thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas! I have learned to make the bible journals from you and just so enjoy making them and adding in all the tuck spots for the scriptures. I too am somewhat of a word nerd and love word studies, so one of my goals is to set up a growth book to do my word studies in the new year. Sometimes as I read my bible, I get lost in the Word and begin jotting things down in my notebook as I go. A book like your growth book is perfect for doing this. I love your individually made journals. I love to do it that way to preserve my bible for reading. I still have some travelers size journal covers that I like to make my own insert books for. That way, I can put in art papers. Recently, I've been packing to move and going back through my old sermon notes journals. Very interesting.

I’ve struggled to understand the Bible Journaling trend. Your video is the first time I’ve been able to understand the value and the process. Most of the videos I’ve seen have pages that cover the actual Scriptures with tons of art. It felt…wrong. But this I can get - bringing your (obviously God-given) artistic talent and self into studying the Word.
Covering the words is definitely a personal decision. Whenever possible I try to avoid it. But there are a lot of different ways to journal. For me, adding the visual element helps me process what I’m learning and studying. It also helps me slow down and really focus. Thanks so much for watching! I am so thankful that I found you. After spending hours upon hours watching videos on how to begin a Bible Journal, endless tutorials, and spending the last three or four years collecting books and magazines from other Bible Journal artists with thousands of examples of beautiful art and scriptures I told my husband yesterday that I still felt like I couldn't do art in my Bible because if I did one bad page I would be devastated. You have set me on a new path. I already make altered book junk journals, but it never occurred to me to use them for anything more than gifts. After my comment, I'm going to begin an artist trading card version of your Rolodex idea. That is a beautiful way to also get the grandkids and the family involved! Praise God for your channel and the ideas and direction you give people.

I love your bible journals and your journaling is the best that I have seen. I wish that you would do a thorough flip-through for each one though, including the index cards, even if you had to do them in separate episodes. Just seeing a rapid flip of a few pages was maddening. I'd love to see them ALL. Thank you for sharing those that you did though (Diane, England).

I make small notes in the margin of my Bible pages, but when I'm doing a deep dive into the scriptures, especially when I'm studying a particular subject, person, event, etc I have to break out my spiral notebooks. I don't use the full size notebooks you'd use in school, but a smaller 6x9 spiral bound notebook for my longer, in depth notes. I don't want so many things in my Bible that it becomes a distraction from actually spending time in God's word.

Thanks for sharing all your different Bibles you're currently journaling in along with all the other options. Love seeing all you wonderful creativity. Very inspiring! I'm just finishing up reading thru the Bible chronologically this year. I've been reading through the Bible each year for quite a few years now. And this is the 2nd or 3rd time I've read through chronologically and I really enjoy it for a change.

I have a question....regarding the private prayers in journals, what is your plan to do with them once you’re gone from this world? Do you plan to let your family see them? I ask because I’m in my 70’s and my thoughts now go to what do I want left behind.
I don’t mind if my family sees them. However I doubt they will save all of my journals and notebooks. I can tell you that my sister in law has her mother’s journals and treasures them. 💜

I loved everything! I just recently discovered this world of bible journaling. Previously I just wrote down plain text in my phone notebook and now I'm just so in love with expressing my faith artistically and God is the ultimate artist so both go brilliantly together. Thank you for sharing your journals and I can understand that it's very personal but you inspiring other faith artists like me.

These are all wonderful ideas Mindy! I seem to go through almost 2 Bibles a year, so looking for some other ways to work through the amazing devotionals. Thank you for sharing your creative ideas!
Lately I think I’ve been journaling more outside my Bible than inside. Lol. Sometimes with a kit I will work mostly in a separate journal and then create a page in my Bible only for certain days, rather than doing all 14 days in my Bible. 💜

How do you prevent ink bleed through on the thin Bible pages. Love these creative ideas 🥰
A lot really depends on the kind of ink you use and the Bible. Some inks shadow, while others tend to bleed. Personally I don’t worry too much about it. Typically I don’t cover the words in the Bible so if I have bleed through it will likely be in the margin, which makes covering it up easier. You can use gesso to cover it up or even patterned papers. 💜

Oh geez, talk about goals! I also do by the well for God, my handwriting is large and ugly, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a sewing machine in person lol I’ve ruined more expensive things with my “good ideas” than I care to admit. I buy the planner perfect journals unlined, and just glue all the kit stuff in them then use the rest of the journal for my morning scripture writing. I have the lion face journal for the courage study, the lighthouse journal for the true north, and others that coordinate perfectly. It’s my way of pretending I am an artist like you!!!

Hi Mindy..i just stumbled onto this prayer journaling trend and i was wondering if you have compiled a list of the essential art supplies you need to get started on making these journals. I love your creative art skills. Your tutorials are wonderful. What kind of needle and thread do i buy to make my own journal out of a cardboard box. Sorry i have many questions, its just overwhelming on how to get started and what to buy. I love all of your work. Many blessings 🎉
I’m happy to help! I do have a playlist on my TH-cam channel for creating journals. I would recommend a book binding needle as they tend to be longer with a larger eye. Waxed, linen thread is a great, easy to use thread, but you can use bakers twine or even embroidery floss. The KJV Bible in this video is no longer in print unfortunately. I have had it for years, and I don’t think I’ve ever done a flip through of it. I do have a fairly recent video reviewing the Spiral Bible that is KJV that might be of some interest. Church Bible Publishers has quite a variety as well. I hope that helps!

I am not very crafty, but I love those little memory cards that you have that you tucked into the small Bible as well as in your deck. Have you done a tutorial in here of how you put together those little cards with the different pieces of ephemera I am so interested, but never done anything like that.

Can they be made with supplies at home or do you need the kits from the Bible study?
I always think you can and should make things from what you have! Please don’t ever feel pressured to buy the latest things. I love the Bible study kits because the content is so good. But you can absolutely use what you have and do your art from whatever you’re studying.

I like this kind of bible journaling but it can get expensive.
I am a big proponent of using what you have. Journals can be made from almost anything. But ultimately the most important part is time in the Word. All the art comes secondary. A cheap set of colored pencils or anything you have can help cement what you’re learning through scripture. Thanks so much for watching.

You can purchase the ones in this video on Dayspring. But there’s another version called a Spiral Bible that has come out recently. It’s great because you can choose different translations. I will put my affiliate links in the video description

What was the brand of your TN? Where did you get it?

I would love to have an interleaved Bible. I just haven’t purchased one while I still have so many others that I’m working in. But it’s definitely on my wish list! 💜

Which KJV Bible (the black one) is that and where did you get it?
It’s a note taking Bible from Barbour publishing. Unfortunately this particular Bible is not in print anywhere that I can find. However Church Bible Publishers has one similar. They have several varieties.
