If you can afford to have a few guitars, buy yourself a nice strat. If you want one axe that will cover absolutely all bases from surf rock and jazz to metal and punk, take a mid level or better Ibanez. Fit and finish on all Ibanez axes over 400 pounds shits on Fender.
you can make an ibanez sound like a fender (not with these pickups) but not the other way around!on the contrary try to play bar chords for 15 minutes on the iby and your hand will swell from the straight radius!both are great for their own reason!
On the cleaner settings its Ibanez 1 Fender 0. On a bit of gain its a lot closer to call. Not saying I would always pick Ibanez over Fender, but between these two guitars I would. Ibanez seem to be a better all rounder if you are on a budget.
That Fender Mex strat sounds like as it should be. Thin, quacky and clean as a bell. Great mods! The ibanez sounds fuller and cleaner because of its humbuckers.
Ibanez: less treble, less cut, more bass, more mids, more rythm if in same band as Strat Strat: more bite, more treble, less bass, definitely the lead guitar EQ wise
Cool video and great sounds. I'm surprised middle class ibanez sounds this good with stock pickups. i understand these are guitars that you guys actually own but for 600 one could get used MIJ Ibanez 550 with alnico pups, which would sound even better. You could talk a little more about trem systems. Strat will never be as stable as ibanez but ibanez is pain to change strings and tune. My rg holds tune forever so I can live with extra time required during string changes but for a beginner classic trem might be a better choice. It's also worth to mention rg ibanezes (at least MIJ) have treble bleed stock. btw fender is now selling MIM strats in HSS configuration with tone wired to bridge pickup (player series) pozdrowienia!
Thanks Michael! You make some great points, this was one of our earlier videos whilst we were still figuring things out (and we still are..) so we always look back on things we could have said or missed, but it's great you've commented as we'll take this on for future videos and now i've learned some new things too from you! Thanks :)
My main axe now is a Japanese squire strat from the 80s I put a floating bladerunner trem on it with a seymour Duncan everything axe loaded pick guard. it can sound like a strat, a tele, a Humbucking prs. Very versatile. As with all coil tapping there is a large volume drop when tapped but I use that as an in guitar overdrive. I am currently looking to get a ibanez sv5470 which will be a similar kind of do all guitar but to try out different tones. Japanese made all the way!
I’m picking up an Ibanez RGM21 BKM could you let me know if this would be any good for a beginning electric guitar player I do know how to play from acoustic
The Lick Loft I’m getting it on eBay for a really good price $340 AU where as it’s $500 at the local music shop didn’t say anything about being micro but yea Ibanez from what I’ve heard and seen look like a very good brand for the prices!
Denis Shannon thanks Denis! Interesting! We purposely didn't change or edit the sound between the guitar change, and I'm starting to wonder if it's because the Ibanez is louder that we perceive it to sound "better" :) I was surprised how nice the Ibanez sounded especially clean.
I think I fell asleep five minutes into your video… Woke up in time to hear the guitars. The Ibanez sounds so much better than the Strat. And it’s so much better looking.
What shall we do to Rich's Epiphone 80's Les Paul? Let us know anything you'd recommend below!
The Lick Loft
You could give to me, you know. Pay it forward and stuff :)
7:39 You're welcome.
It's already on screen at the beginning and in the description. You're welcome.
For this video i go with ibanez, its more like fender now, unlike other old ibanez, this one is warmer and thinner smooth sound
The Ibanez sounded way better in the recording than it did in the room (not that it sounded bad in the room!)
Between these two which one has overall larger body? Or both are identical in terms of overall body size? Thanks

Some good advice in there Davnar, do personally like the "cheaper" fenders though but Ibanez build quality is always class!

Nice one Tino, Ibanez are amazing quality for the value you're right

Interesting stuff! Thanks!
Ibanez great on distortion👍.
Thanks I really enjoyed this, I used to be a strictly Fender guy but I've taken the plunge on an RG and found this really interesting!! 🤘
Thanks glad you enjoyed it :)
Fender sounded more twangy to me. I’d buy the Ibanez.
hahah sound logic there. me too.

Sounds like a really great versatile guitar! Would love to hear it!
Skip to 7:30ish to actually hear the guitars
As stated in the description and on screen at the beginning :)

Hey if that guitar makes you pick it up everyday and you enjoy it then go for it! Is that the micro model? They do look fun to play

@@oldmatevb sounds great I'm probably just getting confused I'm bad with model names! Let us know how you get on :)
I like how fenders look a bit more but Ibanez is more versatile. If I didn't need high gain in my set I'd go Fender but otherwise I would pick Ibanez.
We're with you there! :)
Man which has thinner neck ?
Rg or the fender strat ?
Hey Adrian I'd say the RG but I guess it has something to do with the radius as well. The RG feels a bit "slimmer" and "faster"
Thanks 🙏🏻
What about r&b on a ibanez rg?
Great suggestion thanks!
Ibanez for clean strat for distorted
Strat vs RG is like comparing a tube tv to an hd tv. Strat design is out of date so is the Les Paul
Very easy win for the Ibanez
Denis Shannon thanks Denis! Interesting! We purposely didn't change or edit the sound between the guitar change, and I'm starting to wonder if it's because the Ibanez is louder that we perceive it to sound "better" :) I was surprised how nice the Ibanez sounded especially clean.

That’s not even close the vintage Ibanez RGs are the best super strats ever made.
The Ibanez kicked the Fender’s ass didn’t it? And I luv Fenders. The RG550 can go up against ANY Stratocaster.
OK, this might be blasphemy, but. I liked Ibanez better with the cleans, and strat better with crunch.
Ibanez RG is far too superior at all levels
Thanks for watching Noaman
Fender all day
Ibanez ❤️
Fender
I like the sound of the ibanez better the fender sounds cheap
That's mexico.
