In fact it was actually a losing game for Connor. If he lost the duel with his father, then yeah, technically he lost, and if he won he would lose his own father. No matter how much he hated Haytham, he was still his father. Brilliant edit.
Yes, it was a deleted voice line from the game that didn’t make it to the original game, but the files were still online :) I wanted to insert it anyway because it gave more depth to the whole thing
yesss it is the best edit but it would be much better if you did include the part of haytham , when he was diying he told "im proud of you in a way". not only this line, i wanted to mean that moment. it was showing his charisma, that IT IS THE PROUD MOMENT FOR A FATHER TO GET KILLED BY NONE BUT YOUR OWN SON, he was very much proud with his son CONNOR 🥲😣
I completed AC 3 I play both as haytham and as Conner Haytham want a better future for country but the way he did is wrong And at last Conner ended this 😭
I don't understand why Haytham tries to make Connor understand templars, then he fucks up when they go visit Washington and decides to disappear after the confrontation and suddenly he turns into a madman who will protect Lee no matter what, that's something I never understood in AC3. And poor Connor just wants his father and unity between them.
To understand better Haytham's story and point of view you should read Forsaken, which is an AC book composed by Haytham's life diary, where he describes his thoughts. But in general, Haytham respected the Assassins' philosophy considering it very noble but still recognizing its extreme danger. He really wished that the Templars and the Assassins could somehow find an agreement, especially because he could not be at peace with himself knowing that his father Edward was an Assassin and that he too would have become one if he wasn't murdered by Birch, the very same man who "adopted" him after Edward's death and Jennifer's departure, and brought him into the Templar's order in the first place. Regarding Washington, Haytham wanted to show Connor that patriots weren't who he thought. His son was convinced that the Americans wanted freedom for everyone, even for the natives, but reading the letters from Washington Haytham showed Connor that regardless of the winner, his people will still be doomed. He has always hoped to convince his son, and he has really badly lived the idea of having to kill him for multiple reasons. First of all because he loved him to death despite the differences, and secondly because he saw in Connor himself as an Assassin. In the end, his fatherly love prevailed and he let himself be killed. He basically tried to push Connor into a critical situation so that he was forced to kill him (this is where he did all that mess with Lee, both for his templar cause and both for his issues). Doing this, he also freed himself from his burdens.
When you Kill Haytham and go back to the homestead before killing Charles Lee, (not sure if it's in remaster) there will be mohawk writing next to Haytham portrait that roughly translated to "I made a mistake."
I think that rather than that Achilles wanted Haytham dead as he was the Templar order's chief in North America, so he had to be killed if the assasins wanted any chance of defeating them on the territory. Nonetheless, there probably was some kind of revengeful wish on Achilles' mind ;)

Did Achilles use Connor to kill Haytham as a revenge for Haytham shooting him in the leg?
