meant for people not necessarily your fish, which may freak out in certain light colors

I agree with Tina that this is definitely more focused on the viewer's needs than those of the fish. While I think the implied criticism there is that ethical aquarists should strive for a balance between what thrills, soothes, or otherwise stimulates the fishkeeper and what is healthiest physically and psychologically for the fish, it's important to note that there is an entire "niche"in the aquarium industry which caters to the "therapeutic" qualities of keeping aquaria. Aquaria have been used to calm, engage, and reduce stress in hospitals and psych wards for decades. While I understand the concern for the fish, and that IS an important primary ethical consideration when taking on the responsibility of maintaining an aquarium, I also know that most of us wouldn't bother with aquariums at all were it not for the therapeutic aspect on some level. I personally would never subject my fish to odd colors or over bright lighting or excessive noises if I thought it stressed them negatively in any way. But I don't think this product, at least from what I can discern in the video interview, is any more harmful or poses any significantly higher level of stress for the fish than most non live planted tanks. If we really are concerned in taking up the call to "naturalize" or create an environment wherein fish maximize their longevity and longterm health, we a) shouldn't keep fish in the first place as ALL aquarium experiences stress fish to some extent at some point and b) if we do choose to keep fish when we know they will be subjected to intense stressors, we should focus our efforts on the unconscionable damage monopolies like PetSmart and Petco put on fish when they primarily sell junk which rots and toxifies underwater, and they have no interest in modeling or selling equipment to customers which keep fish alive for the long run, cramming them into small spaces and forcing them all to share whatever disease and water toxins disperse through their single filtration systems which "support" only the strongest most disease resistant stock in the first place. I'd feel much better about outfitting an aquarium with a "Serene Freshwater LED Kit," than I would putting the plastic branches and plants shown in the video. LiveAquaria as a company is certainly a step up from the "Pet" super store monopolies, but ALL large American aquarium dealers have a LONG way to go to educate people on what technology and basics fish need to thrive in captivity. The Germans and Japanese are LIGHT YEARS ahead of America in this regard and it's quite frustrating that profit hogs like PetSmart and Petco are stunting any chance American aquarists have at advancing their hobby to its optimum potential.
