Wiz: Dragons. Fierce and ferocious creatures within the fantasy genre. From big to small, and whatever shape they may take, they all have one thing in common.
Boomstick: The ability to blow shit up, breathe fire, control elements, and even nom on humans for dinner! But for these two, it’s freezing death breath!
Wiz: Kyurem, Pokemon’s black and white Ice Dragon.
Boomstick: And Alatreon, Monster Hunter’s cryomantic force of nature! He’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick.
Wiz: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.
Can imagine this fight starting with Alatreon killing the hunter, and then a Kyurem that just broke free from it's master steps out of a nearby ice-cave, and both dragons engage.
Either way this goes the loser is the environment

Friendly reminder that Death Battle uses the games as a primary source material, and therefore Kyurem wouldn't be able to access its fusion forms without outside assistance.
Actually, they DO use the other media's, otherwise they would never have said Mewtwo could Mega Evolve without a trainer.
@@bluefireproduction1446 Exactly. Death Battle is so notorious for using non-canon material that it would be REALLY hypocritical for them to only focus on the Pokemon games. Especially since the games, the anime, and the manga all take place in the same multiverse
@@bluefireproduction1446 it’s also important to note that Death Battle’s analysis only got really in depth by around the end of season 4, so Mewtwo’s episode is quite dated in terms of analysis.
They just used ultra ego Vegeta who's only in manga and ssb Vegeta evolution which is in the anime show
Also kyurem was shown to be switching forms in the Pokémon Hoopa Movie were legendary were clashing at eachother
Ok, Imma go into detail here: This would be EXTREMELY close. but unlike Kyurem, Alatreon can switch forms at the blink of an eye whilst Kyurem can only be in one form at a time. Now I have to get this out of the way but even though he is my favorite of the 3 forms: Black Kyurem has no winning chance due to Thunder res, Ice Immunity, and Dragon res, while Ice Active. White Kyurem actually has the higher chance due to Ice and Fire being a weakness of 2 of Alatreon's forms, but Alatreon can abuse it's resistances to the two types in Dragon Active which has no weakness and is neutral with Dragon, therefore if Alatreon stays in Dragon Active then White Kyurem doesn't have a big chance of winning.(Mind you White Kyurem's best Dragon type move is Dragon Pulse, and you may argue it can learn Outrage but W. Kyurem is a special attacker.) Plus to add onto that, Kyurem is always Ice/Dragon and trust me when I say Alatreon loves spamming Dragon, Fire, and Ice attacks, and yes Turboblaze means moves can be used regardless of Ability... Key Word: Ability. So Alatreon keeps its Immunity to Kyurems attacks in its various forms. Again this would be close, but Alatreon's elemental resistances and arsenal make it the victor.
Edit: Ice Active isn't resistant to Thunder but neutral. That still doesn't help Black Kyurem's case.

So I heard that this Monster is immune to Ice attacks when in the air and to Dragon ones on the ground. That's a funny interaction between the two.

That was in the old games.
After he was overhauled in Iceborne, he can change between ice active and fire active modes, with a dragon active mod as an inbetween state.
In ice active it's immune to ice and weakest to fire, in fire active it's weakest to ice and immune to fire. He doesn't care that much about dragon in fire and ice active and dragon is basically normal effective in dragon active mode
But does he have an immunity to Electricity, I do know Kyurem has 2 transformations, White Kyurem gives him access to fire. Black Kyurem gives access to electricity
@@ChazWalser black and white kyurem can't be used by kyurem itself, as in black and white 2 the DNA splicer is used by the trainer on kyurem while reshiram or zekrom are nearby.

@@donovanhadley2209 I don't know, Kyurem created a massive blizzard that covered the ground in enough snow to cover entire trees in a few seconds, just by waking up. And Alatreon is basically destruction incarnate. So unless this happens in the middle of nowhere (which is likely), someone is dying.

Alatreon is equal to Fatalis who easily took down the powerful Castle Schrade alone and is able to melt the armors of Hunters to it's scales, even if that armor is made from those are resistant or immune to fire. Alatreon can also just be in Fire Active and that dex entry is total garbage due to fire immunity
He called the Master of all 5 Elements for a reason

@@sussybaka3648 I mean, taking down a single castle, no matter how large isn't really that impressive compared to *scorching the entire Unova Region* with Fire and Lightning (Reshiram and Zekrom), which is a thing confirmed to have happened in lore, and Kyurem can scale to (In B2W2, it subdues Reshiram/Zekrom in order to absorb them and become Black/White Kyurem).
Most Legendary Pokemon would absolutely be considered Black Dragons by Monster Hunter standards, especially the Tao Dragons and the Weather Trio.

Just to give you a little bit of info on alatreon, Alatreon is a black dragon the most powerful dragons in monster hunter, and Fatalis (the strongest out of all black dragons) can incinerate the earth within less than a day, and Alatreon compares to Fatalis. Add all that with his insane elemental switching speed, immunity to most of Kyurem’s elements and overall lore and I’d say Alatreon has this.
I’d argue Alatreon wins. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my boy Kyurem. However, with Alatreon’s elemental control. It can take advantage of Kyurem’s dragon weakness with its own dragon based attacks and Escaton Judgement is incredibly powerful.
Edit: Another thing I realized, while yes the whole “Elemental moves wouldn’t be a factor” look at Pokémon vs Digimon, while yes it’s my least favorite Death Battle of all time. It stated how WarGreymon had moves that specifically hurt Dragons. The same would apply here. Not to mention how with how the dragon ailment works in Monster Hunter, it would be a valid point to bring up how Dragon gets rid of the opponents element, so would it get rid of Kyurem’s Ice and Dragon and other elemental based moves?

It is definitely hard to consider who wins as Kyurem's other counterparts in Reshiram and Zekrom were stated to originally have threated the Unova region in the past. And considering feats from other legendary pokemon like Deoxys controlling a region annihilating meteor, it is safe to say that many legendaries could hold up against monster hunter characters
A very fast paced track that sounds like something you would hear for a boss battle theme! I like the bit with the organs and the techno bits; sounds very epic and its very cool to listen to!
Oh interesting idea, in this battle of monsters which Dragon will reign supreme?

I mean, Alatreon can switch elements at will. In fact, Escaton Judgment would decimate Kyurem in one go.
Kyurem is also Dragon which gives him resistance to Fire, I think, rendering the damage neutral.
Alatreon can also switch to Dragon and is only weak to Dragon whilst resisting: Fire, Water, Ice, and Thunder
@@sussybaka3648 Ice is super effective against Dragon. So Alatreon would have to not switch to dragon and would have to use boulders to beat Kyurem, since I doubt it can be use a fighting-ish type attack and I don't know if it can control metal.

*So after finally listening to this whole batch of themes, this one is definitely my favourite. Not only cause of the combatants but just the way the music just slams in & out with those guitar riffs. It is a masterful piece. The artwork is killer as well.
Kyurem has this in the bag if it has the dna splicers (Kyurem White and Kyurem Black are very powerful)

Since Kyurem can canonically transform into black/white kyurem on will, he might effectively attack Alatreon and take blows from it, with type resistances, however, Alatreon also has the ability to switch forms and resist Kyurem's blows. The only real way both can kill each other, is either Alatreon vaporizing Kyurem with estacon judgement, or Kyurem One hit KO'ing Alatreon with Ice Burn.

Escaton Judgement is purely to be summarized: Fire, Water, Electric, Ice, and Dragon. But it functions as a One-Hit KO if the Elemental DPS check is not met.

I hardly, hardly, *hardly* see Kyurem winning a fight agaisnt the abomination that Alatreon is. Being able to control all elements is just his handshake, i see a lot of people dismissing or just underrating MH creatures, *especially Elder Dragon class monsters* , i could see a fight between Velkhana and Kyurem, but putting Ala in the ring against him is just like a car trying to hit a train from the front and especting it to get out of the way.
I could understand White or Black Kyu, they are really powerful, but even then, Alatreon has so many different ways to absolutely decimate anything and resistance that the strongest attack his foe could offer would just flinch him, again, we're talking about a Black Dragon, and especially *this* Black Dragon, the game literally lets you know very well how this thing could end the world by just existing there, not even the "Gods" want to engage with Alatreon. Kyurem is a strong guy a *really really strong dude* , don't get me wrong, but if he can, say, incinerate the surface of the Earth, Alatreon can not only burn it, but flood it, raise the radiation, storm it, freeze it and just to be sure everything is dead Draconize it, all at once.
As a gameplay stand point, things could change in favor for Kyurem, since his stats are ridiculously powerful and high, not to mention the Black/White version, but again, Alatreon does as well, the elemental weakness he has though could give him a bad time. And i didn't even talked about Escaton Judgement, that is an assured instakill if not damaged enough.
This is just my opinion though, i could be absolutely wrong, but in my mind, i don't see Kyurem, nor any Pokémon of his league fighting against a Black Dragon.
It's hard to say. Reshiram and Zekrom alone are insanely powerful in their own right. Zekrom alone was stated to caused thunderstorms that could spread across the entire planet and the two fighting almost annihilated the whole Unova Region in the past. And Kyurem effortlessly overwhelmed them in Black and White 2 with just a single attack. Hell, it's on the same tier as other insanely powerful pokemon like Primal Kyogre and Groudon.
So while Alatreon's elemental switching and resistances might come in handy, it's unlikely that it could survive that much force all at once.
And Alatreon's Escaton Judgement is hard to really scale in terms of power, so that could vary wildly.
Not to mention it has moves like Noble Roar to weaken Alatreon's attacks during the fight and Ancient Power to potentially raise all of its stats, it could widen the power gap even further.

If Kyurem had ever reached its complete form from absorbing both Reshiram & Zekrom, this might be a different battle but well... This is why "incompletionism" can come back to kill you...
I know Kyurem a bit, but I know about Alatreon. I don't think Kyurem will win this, despite Alatreon being immune to ice and dragon is ok in ice mode. In dragon mode it's really randomize use one element to attack, but if it use dragon attack on Kyurem. Kyurem will be in trouble for sheer strength boost. Alatreon is smart in the lore probably human intelligent which it probably can plan how to kill Kyurem. I think Alatreon will win this battle with more element, resistance, and intelligency.

I am not familiar with Kyurem, yet Alatreon is my bane in Monster Hunter World. So that means I am giving the vote to Alatreon despite the fact that Kyurem (according to bulpabedia) is Ice and Dragon and those types are strong against Dragons.

Kyurem cannot fuse with Zeckrom or Reshiram on its own, so no.
I don't think it will need it to win tho.
It's hard to say. In the games, Kyurem needs Zekrom/Reshiram and the DNA Splicers to fuse, but in the Keldeo movie, it can switch between it's fused forms at will.

I assume the match up was made under the assumption that Kyurem could change forms on the fly like in that one movie. Meaning it's a Battle between Dragons that can change elememts.
alatreon for me without a doubt. granted i don't really know how kyurem works (i never got a pokemon s&s and i'm not that deep in yet fucking sue me.) but alatreon is a beast of near godly elemental power. it is so powerful that it long gave up trying to control it and just casually walks around climate changing ecosystems out of existence. and until someone can tell me otherwise i don't see how you can beat that.

It's too bad that we still don't know what the original dragon looked like. Maybe if they ever remake gen 5 we'll see, but until then we'll just have to use our imagination I guess

But then again the move sheer cold is called absolute zero in japan which does OHKO so base kyurem may be able to do the dps check on fire mode alatreon.
Alatreon wins. It has way more hax than people give it credit for, and some of them Kyurem likely cant counter (Soul Manip. from it's Greatsword description, heat/air shields from being related to Kushala/Teostra and it's wings and horns cutting space-time, to name a few.)
Alatreon should take this, being comparable to the likes of crimson fatalis trump any feat Kyruem has even scaling to other legendaries and pokedex entries.
Not to mention the versitility goes to alatreon due to being able to change elements on a wim, and dodging lightning based attacks from other monsters puts him at roughly the same speed as kyruem if not a bit faster due to scaling once again.
Even fused kyruem wouldn't be enough. It'd be a hell of a fight, but you'd have to pull out some wack ass scaling to give kyruem the win.
Fun fact, according to Black/White Kyurem can drop the temperature around it self to -57 degrees Fahrenheit or about -25 degrees Celsius

Sure the Thu’um would give Alduin a greater variety of offensive and defensive capabilities that could guarantee his victory, However, what Fatalis lacks in versatility he makes up for in pure, raw, overwhelming power. Physically Fatalis is undoubtedly superior. Alduin is about the same size as a Rathalos, and Fatalis is not only bigger but also benefits from having more appendages than Alduin. Even though Fatalis may not have the gift of speech, he is no dummy. In fact this goes for the majority of the Elder Dragons, with the stronger ones being more intelligent, and Fatalis is among the strongest and smartest. While still technically animals the Elder Dragons have a degree Of intelligence that goes beyond mere instinct, even rivaling the intelligence of humans and wyverians alike. Then there’s Fatalis’ fire; it may look like normal fire but a video from ragegamingvideos pointed out that Fatalis’ flames are at least equivalent to the heat of the sun. This would also imply that Fatalis is made up materials sturdy enough to survive spewing those levels of fire; not to mention the majority of Fatalis’ attacks have a pretty decent AoE to them. that said, there is a theory that the fires produced by Fatalis are also infused with the dragon element, Which might be what allows the fires to look normal but also reach the impossible levels of heat that they are capable of producing; but if that is the case it might even be more detrimental to Alduin, cause the dragon element is most effective against other dragons, it also has the power to weaken and even seal away the abilities of dragons and hunters, there are theories that it’s potency is determined by the intelligence of the target (also explained by ragegamingvideos), which would be (in my opinion) devasting to Alduin’s Thu’um capabilities.
Keep in mind also that canonically, Fatalis is among the uppermost echelon of most powerful monsters (White Fatalis takes that cake), being even stronger than Alatreon, you know the Blazing Black Dragon that has power over all the elements.
And yes, while I’m definitely biased for Fatalis, and do personally see all of the feats previously mentioned as capable of defeating Alduin, I must admit I can’t say for certain. As previously mentioned, Alduin’s Thu’um may very well be versatile enough to overwhelm Fatalis. What I’m primarily arguing for is that a death battle between these two would not be total stomp in favor for Alduin.

I mean the dps check saving Kyurem is debatable... all passing the dps check does is cause the damage to be slower so that you can outheal it with potions... something that I don’t think Kyurem can do on his own, and you can’t really dodge the attack, just be very far away

Honestly Kyurem wins if he goes for the wings first because Alatreon is immune to ice in the air so if Kyurm goes for the wings then Kyuren wins and if they go by Keldeos movie where Kyurem can swith forms if he wants to well Kyurem has this in the bag

A lot of people seem to be favoring alatreon, and while he's powerful, I would argue kyurem takes this match.
Alatreon is potentially continent level, but so is kyurem. Even without scaling to ultra necrozma which would instantly end the match in kyurem's favor, it can be scaled to to zekrom and reshiram, who scorched the unova region with their combined power. Kyurem base should be comparable to about half of that power while black/white ae equal to that power. Even with elemental weaknesses kyurem is still on the same tier as alraeron in power.
Speed is where kyurem really begins to take this fight. Kyurem is leagues above alatreon in speed. Even if alatreon fires a continental beam at kyurem, it has the time to fire 100 back at him and move out of the blast zone. All the power in the world doesn't matter if you can't direct it, and altaeron just won't be fast enough to hit kyurem before he's taken out by multiple attacks at the limit of his durability.
Additionally, kyurem has a far wider variety of moves to pick from. Assuming we allow kyurem to pick the most favorable moves for itself and use anime logic where a pokemon can use more than 4 moves, kyurem can be fully boosted and rocking full type coverage for all of alatreon's forms by the time alatreon arrives to the battle.
TLDR: this is another Sanji vs Rock Lee situation. The arguably stronger character (alatreon) isn't fast enough to hit the weaker character (kyurem) before they are taken out
I would say not really, alatreon can be scaled up to fatalis, who is known for scaring off creatures that can put up entire continents at stake, and can survive attacks from fatalis, assuming he doesn’t just dodge them which would probably make him extremely fast due to white fatalis’ black hole, as well. Though I do think that this fight depends on which version you use of kyurem, because movie gets stomped, manga stomps, and game is the most fair, even though I think France is smaller than the old world. Also alatreon has an ice form which would make most of kyurem’s attacks obsolete due to it being immune to ice attacks and barely taking damage from dragon moves.
TLDR: Fatalis can put the entire old world at stake, and altreon regularly faces up against him. He is immune or barely affected by most of kyurem’s attacks in ice form. Is faster than him if he can outrun white fatalis’ black hole and way too durable if he can survive the black hole. And this fight is dependent on which kyurem version you use because anime gets stomped, manga stomps, and I would argue alatreon beats game version.

As cool as it is seeing Alatreon, I kinda wanna see now Fatalis and who he may face. Not saying it has to be Pokémon, just someone for Fatalis…..

As someone who loves both Pokemon and Monster Hunter... This is extremely one-sided. Alatreon doesn't stand a chance. The main difference is: Monster Hunter has to be grounded. Pokemon does not. While Alatreon is extremely powerful, and I'd even argue it negs at least half the Elder Dragon roster, it doesn't compare to the cosmic BS most legendaries scale to.
Thing is scaling to crimson fatalis puts alatreon at planetary on a low end, and kyruem has never been shown to keep up with pokemon with FTL feats- meaning they both scale to lightning dodging. Similar speed and power, the main issue is alatreon simply has better diversity with its type changing- where kyruem needs time and can only go from one to the other to fuse. It's a hard battle, but Alatreon SHOULD just edge out a win
@@FranTheNerd FTL is... ...really not that impressive in Pokemon. While Kyurem has no direct scaling to FTL, things much slower than it do scale to FTL or have FTL feats (even Golem has an FTL feat). And Alatreon scaling to planet level doesn't really mean much when the majority of Legendaries directly or indirectly scale to Necrozma's Universe level feats.
Alatreon is very good, but it gets smoked here.
Besides, it's White Fatalis, not Crimson, who has a planet level feat.
All that said... WHY THIS MATCHUP?! This isn't the first matchup I'd think of for either of these dragons!
@@elfmonster1476 scaling kyruem to FTL on a speed stat is...questionable. And crimson fatalis does have a planetary feat I believe. And I SERIOUSLY doubt any other legendary directly scales to necrozma.
@@FranTheNerd I don't go purely by the speed stat. I go by there being no way a non-legendary, very slow Rock type being faster than a legendary like Kyurem.
Zygarde fought Ultra Necrozma briefly in its 50% form and held it off for a bit in its complete form. Mega Mewtwo held off 50% Zygarde. Genesect kept up with Mega Mewtwo. Kyurem scales to Genesect. And Crimson Fatalis does not have a planetary feat. The only planetary feat in Monster Hunter is White Fatalis moving the moon (and even then it's questionable if that was actually White Fatalis. If it wasn't, Monster Hunter caps at country busting).
@@elfmonster1476Continental actually. Pretty sure fatalis was said to be a threat to the old world, though I might be mistaken. Even then, it probably depends on which version of kyurem we use because the games, manga, and anime are vastly different.

The MU itself doesn't interest me, and Pokemon W is a Pokemon W, so what's with the track? The track while fast paced is somehow fitting for 2 literal dragons fighting each other. I expected this to be the orchestal track of the bunch, surprised it wasn't this way.
Brandon works with what music the commissioner gives him as inspiration (usually one track for each character), so this sort of fast paced technorchestral vibe is probably what he got inspiration for listening to the two.
I personally enjoy it, but it's all matter of music tastes.

Just going by what they're stated to be capable of in lore (or things they are comparable to...)
Yeah, it's no real contest, the Alatreon *dies horribly.*
The Alatreon and other Black Dragons like the Fatalis have some amazing feats of power behind them... but they're absolutely not enough to compare to the power of Reshiram and Zekrom, who once scorched the entire Unova Region with Fire and Lightning during their clash in their backstory (Y'know, the whole Truth vs. Ideals shtick).
Kyurem should certainly be comparable to at least half of that, given how it managed to subdue one of the two to absorb in Black 2/White 2... which is a feat far more impressive than anything ANY monster from the Monster Hunter series has accomplished, INCLUDING Black Dragons like the Fatalis, Safi'jiiva and in this case, the Alatreon.
Kyurem is also leagues faster so there's that.
While I agree that Kyurem wins (even more so if you scale him to Necrozma but I'll doubt DB would do that tbh) I feel like you're severely underestimating the dangerous first-class monster (the actual official name for "black dragons") LONG COMMENT AHEAD:
Alatreon as a dangerous first-class monster is considered to be at the highest order of threat level with the power to threatened as well as (potentially) destroy global civilization as recognised by the hunters guild and in the supporting guidebooks.
Now we've established that let's see what feats/lore Alatreon scales to and likely above (all done by non-"black dragons"):
*Ceadeus can casually shake Moga island by simply rubbing its horns against it and is stated to have the power to sink islands with tsunamis.
*Amatsu is considered to be a living "natural disaster" that can manipulate hurricanes and is superior to Kushala Daora/Kirin who can summon massive ecosystem covering storms with their mere presence alone.
*Shara Ishvalda can easily topple mountains and cause cross-continental EQs (Dalamadur likely scales to Shara due to being stated to cause "tectonic movement" with its body also Shar Dalamadur is stated to have the power to "burn the world in fire" sound familiar?).
*Zorah was going to blow up the new world with it's bio-energy (an entire super continent with countless surrounding islands) had it reached the ever-stream also the Jiiva's scale above this due to having superior bio-energy to Zorah as well as being able to survive the destruction of the new world.
*Kirin has been shown as well as stated numerous times to be "one" with actual lightning which it's predator Rajang can react to as well as the hunters (also there are a few lightspeed feats/statements from the MMO MH games but those are very dubious at best).
Other misc tidbits:
*Dire Miralis (another "black dragon"): boiled an entire ocean and caused a large-scale extinction event by simply existing.
*Implied in game, a battle between Alatreon and Safi'jiiva would've destroyed the new world.
*Alatreon has access to the dragon element which negates any "elemental" power (in lore the dragon element can also directly affect the mind too, albeit take it with a grain of salt).
*Also about Alatreon in the MH Tri lore as well as the official guidebook it's stated to be a trio master of sorts (kinda like Lugia and the legendary birds) over Chameleos, Kushala Daora and Teostra moreover it's stated to have ALL of their abilities such as invisibility, elemental aura, explosive dust, etc (again take it with a BIG grain of salt but it's still worth bringing up).
Overall like I said already Kyurem takes this match imo (if you couldn't tell by my pfp I already know how crazy the Pokémon verse can get) the speed difference alone should be enough but I don't think you did a good job of explaining of what exactly Alatreon scales to.
Tl;dr The boundary pokémon takes this match up however the blazing black dragon may not go down as easily as you made it out to be.
@@lynxfresh5214 As far as I can tell, most of those feats are island level, which isn't quite country, possibly continent (Which is where Reshiram/Zekrom fall). The things that would probably make a difference are the Dire Miralis and Shara Ishvalda, though as you said because Kyurem is leagues faster to the point where it could literally run circles around the Alatreon, Kyurem would still win by a fairly large margin.
I'm not too keen on the 'Destroying the New World' thing, since it's not clear exactly how large the New World actually is. It _seems_ to be the size of a large island, but that wouldn't be enough to match Reshiram/Zekrom.
@@Hyperneosonic97 It's literally stated in game (multiple times) and in the official MHW ecology book that the new world is a continent plus you can see the full size of the new world on an official map in the hunters (2nd) cabin/bedroom but I digress.

@@Hyperneosonic97 Yup the best Alatreon can do is AoE spam dragon element (which admittedly it does quite well) but Kyurem just needs to range spam with its massive speed advantage and it'll eventually win.
Ofc this is assuming DB uses the more reasonable scaling/abilities for both (which I'm 90% they will) instead of using more "absurd" stuff like Kyurem scaling to Ultra Necrozma as well as estimating the "full" power of the original dragon and taking ALL of Alatreon's crazy flavour text at face value such as it's wings being able to cut through space and time (spacial rend anyone?) OR being able to steal souls since some of the weapons crafted from Alatreon parts "apparently" have that power lol!

rayquaza, necrozma complete and giritina
Ultra Necrozma deletes any Fatalis. It's just broken. Rayquaza vs Fatalis is kinda fair, but Mega Ray stomps black fatty, White Fatty stalemates/wins. Giratina isn't effected by time and space, it distorts both. 2 out of 3 Dragons you mentioned are just straight up Gods, multiverse level. Rayquaza is technically a "god" but it is at best world level.
