I had an X260 with the i7 6500U and perfomance was great in day to day usage and the battery life was really good. Upgraded to a P43S earlier in the year, it has spent 2 months broken with Lenovo having to replace two motherboards under warranty and the thermals are awful meaning it throttles under load.
Sorry to hear that! I have little experience with the P series Lenovos. But I figured out over the years that Lenovos have a tendecy for failed motherboards apparantely. I have replaced a fair amount of.
I was able to hit 1600-1800 multi core score with x270 6300u by using a good thermal paste. This is a clear indication that the thermals for thinkpads are the issue for the i7 processors. I was hoping for a better score with your configuration with the t460 which supposedly have better heatsink and better airflow for its bigger shell.
You should really replace the keyboard with a backlit one - that's a massive difference and in my opinion it's one of the best keyboards on the market - even better than apples.
@@MacintoshMen I just hate the fact that you cannot rest your thumb on the bottom of the trackpad and use it to click, otherwise the cursor jumps around. Coming from MacBooks that's the main problem I had with this laptop. I now have a T490 and the trackpad is worlds better (still not as good as MacBook)
@@mikiotty Macbooks have generally fantastic trackpads, I yet have to see one on a PC laptop that comes even close. So I completely understand your struggle.
Pretty much any Thinkpad is good for that if you don't do too intense tasks. They all have great keyboards, just find one which fits you budget and you should be set. Just maybe try to get one with a bit more RAM and a quad core cpu (or very new dual core cpu) to make it a bit more futureproof. Windows is a big resource waster nowadays.
Where did you buy the mother board ? and How can we check the compatibility ? I am also using same Laptop and Same I5 processor , thinking of moving to i9 how can I check If my laptop is compatible ?
I have a ThinkPad T460s with the following specs: Core i7 6600u @ 2.60GHz 8GB RAM 256GB hard drive Intel 520 integrated graphics card So if i upgrade to 24gb ram 2 tb ssd Can i run games like gta v at 40 to 60 fps smooth
I like the idea of getting a thinkpad and upgrading the internals, over getting a completely brand new laptop with everything integrated

Ahora estoy necesitando una placa base como la que acabas de quitar con el i5
I have one myself and I love it. Only thing I hate is the trackpad. Jumpy, not precise and very picky with multi touch gestures.
Yeah, it's sureley not the best trackpad out there, but I kinda got used to it.

There's better luck with the T440p upgrades over the 60s but lacks the Thunderbolt
I would still prefer the i5 - the i7 may be a bit faster but also it's getting hotter and needs more power from your batteries.
I agree with you, the minor increment in speed of the i7 isn't worth the hassle. The i5 is almost as fast.
Hi, suggest for me a good Thinkpad for programming.

Where can i buy t460s motherboard? I have the i7 but it is already shorted processor where can i buy one.. Or at least the i5 version
I'd say eBay is probably the best place. Or Aliexpress maybe too.
Hello i have toshiba satellite l750 18j i5 2430m can i replace with i7 2670qm?
can i upgrade my intel i5 4310u to intel i 7?
I think this is the most easiest motherboard replacement rather than X240/X250
X240/X250 has a lot bad cable management at that Thinkpad
I find Lenovo motherboard swaps to be fairly easy from my experiences, but I can't speak for the X240.
@@MacintoshMen ThinkPads are business machines so they're higher quality & don't actively obstruct DIY repair.

Can I put i7-6820HK in it?
Why replace the motherboard instead of just the processor?🕊️
The CPU is soldered to the board, that's why.
Hi!
I have Lenovo Thinkpad T460 only, and I ask you for help.
Can I put core i7-6600U in this type Thinkpad?

I bought mine from eBay. But you can only go as high as i7, they never built a T460s with an i9.
@@MacintoshMen Thanks for the reply , I am thinking about upgrading to windows 11 but i7-6600 is also not supported
thinkpad T470s i5-6300u bisa di upgrade T470s i7 gen 7 apakah harus ganti motherboadnya ?
Yes
Hi. Friends. May I ask. I have a lenovo t450s core i5 5th gen. Can I upgrade to i7. Please help
Yes you can do it the same way like I did it. Should be a very similar procedure.
@@MacintoshMen thank you friends. Will do.
Hello quick question Will it run autocad or revit
Yes it will however you must decide wether the 6th Gen CPU is still fast enough for your tasks.

I don't think the RAM and SSD upgrade make a noticeable difference in gaming to be honest. It will probably stay the same as it is right now
not bad but you can also spend $1000 for machine and tools and spend days/weeks learning how to do bga chip swap :) jk
Haha, yeah I guess I took some shortcuts then. But seriously speaking that's a pretty awesome skill to have. I can hardly solder two wires together.
