Thanks for showing the clip really well ! I think it would be a good idea to suction the fluid out of the tank to minimize the oil spill. Probably a good idea to remove the sepentine belt to avoid getting oil on the belt. Probably a good idea to replace the reservoir since it has a filter in it and also replace the old fluid. Pelican Parts has a video describing the procedure to avoid introducing air into the system.
Thank you thank you thank you! This was precisely my problem and you showed me the way! I especially thank you for your presence of mind to put the part number for dummies like me!!!!!!!!!! You are amazing!
My dude this is a great video I have an 03 ml that's had a power steering leak from the same spot for a long time and now I'm going to fix it instead of paying thousands of dollars getting ripped off hopefully it'll work I wiped it clean and I can see it's leaking from right there so once I fix it it should be good thanks a lot God bless you
my 07 x164 power steering is making a bunch of noise right now and I'm fairly sure I have a leak. Gonna try replacing the gasket and o rings and run some bar's leaks through the reservoir before I replace the whole pump, hoping this video will help me out. I'll keep you posted.
Love your video and style. Ive got an 2008 ML350 . How in the world did you get your hand contorted into position. My ABS unit is keeping me from even getting a cell phone down there to see whats what let alone a screw driver to pop it off. Your camera must have been a flex tube type to get in there. At least I know what to do using the braille method. Thanks, I just liked and subscibed
How did you bleed out the PS fluid. Did you do that with the engine running and the ML350 on the ground or was the front tires off the ground and the engine not running when the fluid was bled.
Harbor Freight sells thos Torx bits you need for most of the screws and bolts on that car, and they are not expensive. not giving you a hard time, just trying to give a little value back
I can't get the new reservoir to get seated properly. Is there something I'm completely missing here? I placed the O-ring on the same spot you did but I still have a gap in where the bot mounts to the block.
When installing the clip I tied some fishing line to it then tied it to my wrist in case I dropped it and popped it right in, then broke the fishing line off after, the lighter test line the better lol
It leaks every 3-4 years. I have replaced mine 5 times. 1 pump. 2 rack and pinions. 215K 2005 ML350. Bugger requires a lot of maintenance. With prices of cars now a days, I keep on fixing her. Drives well.
MIne did the same until I found that the power steering reservoir was empty. The fluid had leaked out. I replaced the reservoir and the o-ring, and the problem temporarily went away. Now it is back again, so I will be doing another o ring replacement.
I was do this, in my case all fine, but when a try to put the new seal, i is too tight to move again the reservoir in the tube, where the C clamp is positioned. With the side of a hammer, hitting very ligth to put in the reservoir in place again. But is very easy job.

Hello thanks for sharing and subscribing! I actually use a iPhone for my videos. The braille method is a lot easier!
I recommend tightening the hose clamps. for me there was a leak as if I was moving hose

Did it cause the system to collect are and a whining noise?

@How 2 AF: did you use MB power steering fluid, or, an aftermarket PS fluid, like Pentoson CHF 11?
Hey buddy, thanks for the very informative video. Would you happen to know the Mercedes-Benz fluid part #?
🔧🛠️👍👍
where you got the o ring ive not found it
How did the O ring hold up?
Hello thanks for watching! The o-ring did the job perfectly.
It leaks every 3-4 years. I have replaced mine 5 times. 1 pump. 2 rack and pinions. 215K 2005 ML350. Bugger requires a lot of maintenance. With prices of cars now a days, I keep on fixing her. Drives well.
how often does it need to be replaced?
Hello! I noticed a leak in the driveway. I didn’t want to burn up anything. I’m sure someone might know the average time it fails.
👍
My steering is very stiff been that way for a while. Its steerable once moving. Its not smooth at all. Anybody has an idea what it can be?

Thank you for sharing! I’m glad you got it completed!
