i tried a test blanket stitch but it did not turn out. so, referred to your wonderful video...went and tried it again the correct way..and it worked like a charm. Your added extra helpful hints like anticlockwise etc made it easy to follow. Your video is the best i have found for this stitch. I am very grateful!

There is a stitch called invisible stitch, but usually for patches you'd use whip stitch in a thread that matches what you're sewing so it blends in :)

Thank you! I'm a 33 year old man in the UK, the only stitch I'd ever learned before was a tacking stitch that my mother showed me once.
Now I'm older and I want to put patches on hoodies and every friend I spoke to said "do a blanket stitch" but I'm autistic and none of the descriptions I read made sense!

Can I use this stitch to appliqué a Dresden Plate, done in cotton, onto a cotton square? How many embroidery threads do you use to do the stitch? Thank you for this tutorial. It’s just what I was looking for.😊

I don't see why not! I would probably use 3 threads, but it really depends. Test on a sample of your fabric first :)

I noticed on some stitches you don’t slip the needle through the loop before tightening?

I always go through the loop - same on every stitch - but I think it doesn't look like I am sometimes because the thread happens to fall in the right place so the needle automatically comes out on top of/through it :)

A very good tutorial, however traditionally embroidery is not started with a knot, but a small double stitch on the back of the work.

Thanks :) True. If embroidering on a thin fabric I'd say it would be best not to use knots. I just feel a bit more 'safe' using knots to be honest.
