Im 74. I have had books on applique. Well they were complicated more than I care to remember. Lol❤ this was a wonderful compilation of wa ys for me to learn. And omg how simple, how easy and yes fun too. I cannot wait to do a bunch of gift wall quilts. This is going to keep me out of trouble and out of the kitchen. Ha. I will make small art quilts for peoples walls. Im so doggone excited if you could hear me you would hear me squeal. So i want to say thank you and now get me a valium. Lol my favorite is the interfacing. Its so smooth and clean looking. Whew.this can be a lot of work. But so Worth it

I avoid doing appliqué whenever I can. I joined a BOM and did not realize that there were pieces that needed to be appliquéd. I watched your tutorial yesterday and I was able to do it. Thank you so much for making it easy to follow.

I want to use appliqué to cover some holes on a much-loved quilt. I’ve been worried about the raw edge method fraying over time. The interfacing method seems like the perfect solution!!!

This answered my question ! Amen ! I like the interfacing and I really like the way the blanket stitch makes it look. Yes more work, but like I said I like the way it looks, crazy me!!!
What a great Tutorial Nadra. Thank you. I've never tried the reverse method & usually do needleturn appliqie or interface by hand. I like the the 3D effect it gives. I can see, however that machine stitching also has the same effect with interfacing. I only do smaller projects, but on 12" I can see you still get a pretty effect with all 3. I'm s pleased I came across via someone else's post on IG this morning. Have fun with your stitching 🍃🌷🍃

Hi Nadra, great videos. I regularly use the interfacing and raw edge techniques but have never tried the reverse one so I'm going to give that a go ! Fabulous fabric choices too x

Going to try the reverse applique method but will probably use a double buttonhole ( my favorite) stitch for the applique ... I will recommend this video to my quilting friends.

I love your color combination! I like to do a narrow zigzag on the edge of my applique, but your first method is a lot quicker. Will try the reverse applique, it looks so much fun!
That's also a great way to finish off the edges - another beautiful stitch is the the machine blanket stitch, it almost looks like as if sewn by hand! Totally forgot to mention that in my video! 🙂🙂🙂
Funny, I'm not keen on the blanket stitch for some reason.

I can't get freezer paper so I use interfacing but it always shows a bit when I turn it over, there is always a slight overlap where one can tell that there's something under there

I’ve done the raw edge , but not tried reverse or interfacing, seems to me like I prefer the reverse, seeing how my hands are arthritic, not really bad ! I do have my good days!
I agree raw edge must faster Working on the fabric you have to have steady hands and the interfacing a lot more work. You do lovely work with all three but i‘’lol do raw edge Thanks

Very nice tutorial! I personally use raw edge method (first one), but instead of straight line machine stitching on the edge, I machine appliqué using small zigzag stitch using fine thread. It’s almost invisible but in only closer inspection I can see. It’s the quickest for me and I like it a lot. I used to hand appliqué and that takes too much time 😅 so I don’t do that. Only time is when I use felt fabric I like to hand appliqué using embroidery threads and to show off the thread. I’ve seen many people using interfacing in North America (second method) but that’s not so common in where I live but I want to try that out next. I have never seen reverse one (the last one). I learned something new! Interesting. 😊 Thanks so much for sharing!
Great tutorial. Does the iron on backing / sticky stuff in the first tutorial seal the edges of the fabric so that it doesn't fray? I've got some OLD quilts that were done 100 % by hand and some of the edges are a bit frayed and one of them has never been used--too pretty. I'm TRYING to learn how to make a Overall Bill or the male version of Sunbonnet Sue the EASIEST , prettiest and longest lasting way WITH TH-cam videos only. SHEEEEESH. I TRIED the fusible interfacing and turning it inside out--thought that would be my favorite. I tore that fusible interfacing to shreds trying to turn the LITTLE pieces inside out. Gave that one up. Thank you for YOUR video tutorials.
