hello, walked into a cloth store first time today for a project and saw some cute cotton cloths, got a wild idea to see a blanket for a very lovely 2year old baby girl, who came with her family to my island after fleeing Venezuela. Wanted to give her something beautiful to anchor joy into her inner child. This stitch is something I fondly remember from my own childhood blanket & wanted to make it. So Wonderful to find your video💜✨🙏🏼 can't wait to make the blanky for Nina😊
Wonderful, thank you. I am a Brit living in Canada and was mending a blanket I have to had since childhood. Your direction were clear, concise and thorough and your accent reminded me of my mother who was born in Boston Nottingham.
thank you so much for taking your time and talking and explaining slowly so it is easy to follow along when you have no idea of what you are doing when you start. and yes watching you helped very much
This is one of the best instructional videos I've seen. Your directions are clear, your pace is easy to follow along to, and the camera positioning and lighting make your sewing completely visible. Thank you so much!!
this is the best instruction ever! Thank you!!!! I fully understood. I don’t know why other crafters don’t do this and the up close and slow guidance with no cuts is perfect! Subscribed ❤️
You did an excellent job on showing how to do a blanket stitch! Your video far exceeds others I have viewed. It is also, easier to remember because you are so through and use contrasting thread. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so very much for your wonderful tutorial for blanket stitch. I now can start the crocheting part of the project. God bless and thanks for taking the time to do this video for us 🙏
This is the best tutorial on how to start a blanket stitch. Could you please do one that shows how to end the stitch I have had the hardest time and there's only one video that shows it, and not very well. If you could show how to end the stitch that would be wonderful - thank you!
Aw thank you :) Sorry I didn't show connecting the start and end of blanket stitch...I'm probably not going to make another video soon but I have a video on how to blanket stitch an applique and that might help you out.
This is a fantastic tutorial! I did a lovely blanket stitch around a small project the very first time after following along with your video. Thank you for being here! 😀 Cheers from Canada!
Thank you so much for explaining clear, well spoken, and not fast! Lots of videos on craft videos are too fast, and or can't understand as they speak too fast/video is too fast. Thanks!
This is a really well done tutorial, and your presentation was perfect! Easy to follow, paced properly, and nice technique. Nice work, thank you so much!
Thank you for this tutorial. It's been so helpful. I am edging a pillow case and will need to change thread several times. Do you have a tutorial for doing this? Thanks
I prefer this to students and taylors The blanket stitch is a wonderful hand sewing technique to learn, as it can be used to great effect as decorative edging on various projects including blankets, dishcloths and fabric ornaments. The usual materials to use blanket stitch on are non-fraying fabrics like felt, fleece and wool. The stitch is best at joining and decorating raw edges. In this lesson, She will show you how to join 2 felt edges together, including how to stitch neatly around a corner. The demo begins at 3:20 in the video.
Thanks! I would recommend hemming the muslin because, as you say, it would be likely to fray. I have a different video showing how to hem using blanket stitch: th-cam.com/video/9fMsHU1qfMI/w-d-xo.html so you would fold over the edge of the fabric once or twice (then press with an iron) then add the blanket stitch over the hem. Thanks for watching :)
What kind of thread and size would you recommend to stitch denim for the knees and the seams in other private spots? Do you have a video on these? Thanks
I have a few jeans repair videos if you search my channel, but I don't know the type of repair you're after. I like to use the 'Gutermann denim' threads as they are specifically designed for the job - match the colour if you want it to blend in, or choose a contrasting colour. You could also double it up to make it stand out more & be stronger :)
It would be the same technique in that case, the only difference being that where you have secured the thread at the beginning and end of the sewing will be visible on one side of the fabric. If you want to hem the single layer of fabric and then add blanket stitch over the hem, I have an example of that in my updated video : th-cam.com/video/9fMsHU1qfMI/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps :)

Sounds lovely! Happy crafting and thanks for your comment :D
I ended up marking two spaces on my thumb with a marker to make my stitches evenly apart. So easy and so much faster than using tape.
Good idea :)
Pretty smart!
This video was worth watching for the thread-knot trick alone! I cant believe id never seen that before!!! 🤯🙃
Omg the needle / knot method is brilliant!

Simple and detailed tutorial 👍👌
Thank-you :)

Thank you :)
Just what I needed, thank you!
Beautiful hands you have.

Very helpful. I seem to sometimes get the horrozontal part inside the hem, and sometimes on the edge, like you do. Hmmm.
Glad you found it helpful :) Perhaps it's a tension issue - if you pull too tight the thread goes between the fabric pieces?
Thank you so much !
You're welcome!
I’m finishing it tomorrow😀😀😀😀😀
I wanted to see how you start the new thread to continue doing the stitch all the way to the end.
Sehr gut erklärt, vielen Dank🌷
Dank 😁
Very well explained well done thanks
Thanks very much :)
Love it thank youxx
