Martin Wheeler was trained by Vladimir Vasiliev himself. I know what you are trying to do. I have seen this with many Asian systems as well where once a skill or system reaches the western world, it is digested, given a new name and the original creators or authors are discredited deliberately. This is exactly what you are doing right now.
@@HA-rn2iu Lolz, the original creators of Systema are dead a few hundred years now, not recorded in history and some are dead 1000 years. And the only people who discredit Systema are internet trolls on Facebook.

I´ve been at Vladimir´s School, I have seen many guys who have fought in mma, bjj, boxing and many other competitive martial arts and they all get very impressed by systema. The thing is, youtube and his martial arts "experts" just like to hate before even trying
JoshMetal316 Yep I was there for 2 years :). Buncha guys there who had trained BJJ, Sambo (got twisted into a pretzel by one!), boxing, etc. Plus a lot of military professionals, cops, security guards, etc. It was pretty intimidating for a 5'3 university student like me lol.
Systema is a great art. Now I personally believe it is a system that focuses on human body mastery and movement. If you break down it's understanding to this one simple concept I think many people can get an idea of how it works. Systema teaches you how to master the movement of kinetic force through various aspects of your body. It allows you to be explosive with out even thinking about. If you remove tension, have a mastery of breathing, and strong sense of where all your body parts are then you are lethal. Systema helps you master your body. It's is a skill set that you can literally clothe with in another system. Ballistic striking is a very effective and powerful way of punching and kicking. Combine the loose fluid movement of systema it's mastery of breathing and give that to an MMA fighter, a boxer, Muay Thai guy, tkd guy and ECT. This is a system that helps master movement that someone with actual fighting knowledge and training can use to put them on a whole other level. Systema has no forms no curriculum. It literally is unique to the practitioner. There is merit to there training. A lot of people don't value it for what it is. Martin in one of his videos says that he teaches systema wrong lol. Not that he is wrong in how you teach it but that systema is unique in essence of what it is to each person. Martin is not teaching you to be like Martin. Martin is teaching you to master your body and your body alone. Dk you who is presumed to be a joke made this point very clear. I'm seminar he was doing. He said this. You can punch like a boxer or a wing chun guy. Add the principal of loose fluid movement to your technique using ballistic striking within your other techniques and it makes you more dangerous. Skill does not equate to being a good fighter. An experienced fighter who accumulates skills is the best fighter. Have systema clothed in your other arts only makes those other arts better.
Martin Wheeler deserves these accolades 100%. I train BJJ and Systema. They compliment each other beautifully. Martin is an amazing martial artist and tough as nails and after a big career in Martial Arts found his passion with Systema...why? Because it works. Well done Martin.
I think you cannot go past BJJ if you want to learn grappling. It is a proven method. Systema will improve your grappling but it's focus is not only ground work. It will prvide foundations for better BJJ. Systema is not a method as such. It is a set of principles to improve any martial art just like an operating system will imporve your experience of the applications you put on it.

Much respect to Rigan Machado. So, for those who've questioned "if" Systema could really work against high-level sport MMA athletes, you got the answer from a BJJ legend. Are you awake yet? Also, US Navy SEAL veteran Ken Good is another excellent Systema instructor. Now that you have this information, add some Systema principles to your fight game! You'll be giving yourself a tactical edge that your opponent is NOT ready for. Enjoy the life long journey of learning.
rigan is no legend in terms of real fighting, he never had a vale tudo or MMA fight, gave out some very easy black belts , promotes no sparring bjj and has let hi,self become obese,is that a legend?A bell end is more like it.Systema is a farce no matter who teaches it.
anyone here has a video of systema in real fight( mma ,street fight or other) ?because I searched some fight and all comments said " hey this isn't systema" I really want to watch real systema no charlatan things
I know I’m 4 years late, but look up Kevin Secours. He’s modified Systema in a way that’s more suitable for combative sports and occasionally teaches Canadian fighters. There’s really only sparring footage, but that’s better than nothing I guess.
*Nice, glad to see that real systema is getting some recognition* .

Perfect answer. If you wanna learn grappling, learn BJJ. If you wanna be a warrior and work doors, do security, be a soldier, etc., learn Systema.
