    This should be the standard by which all bullets are compared in my opinion. What an awesome bullet!!

    Thank you for adding impact velocities, it gives a lot more information that can indicate performance in other cartridges. Keep it up. 👍👍👍

    My brother and I got my dad a Bergara B14 hunter 300 win mag for my dad for his retirement present. Got him some of these 200 grain terminal ascent cartridges for his western hunting, they've done very well for him

    Great video, I shot a 242 lbs field dressed Whitetail on a hard quartering away 80 yard shot placement out of my 30.06 Springfield using Federal's 175gr Terminal Accent and bullet was recovered with picture perfect mushrooming and the Buck was recovered 30 yards away, I was impressed by the performance of this bullet 💥

    This is a fantastic outcome and demonstrates what a proper medium range cartridge and projectile choice looks like for use on bigger game. Nothing is going to walk far after being hit by one of these…

    Very well done, nicely laid out, and informative. Love the smartass back an forth and the "magic bullet" commentary! Would like to see accuracy tests between this and the 200gr Accubond. Stay safe and God bless

  • @Bowstringdotcom

    When comparing it to the accubond, Its longer with the same weight because it has about 1/3 of the length of the bullet (rear portion of the shank) made of copper, and therefore has less lead core than an accubond. So to get the same weight it has to be longer. Thats also why the shank has the grooves in that area, its all copper. Between the accubond and the TA (or even the trophy bonded tip) I don't think you can go wrong using them for hunting. Fantastic bullets.

    • @bryceanderson553
      @bryceanderson553 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spot on analysis. I see the terminal ascent is basically a hybrid of the Accubond LR (good expansion at low impact velocities) and a monolithic bullet (an indestructible copper shank for deep penetration even at high impact velocities). It's an great design.

    • @wcb5890
      @wcb5890 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bryceanderson553 The TA is an extension of the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw/Trophy Bonded Tip. Much more copper and opens at lower velocities and more predictable than the ABLR

    I am not into high BC bullets as much as some shooters, but I must admit that having a velocity of 2305 fps at 500 yards is pretty impressive. And it held together really good at the higher velocity impacts too. Very impressed.

    Thanks. Saw a few guys testing this. I'll be using the TA in 308 for my elk hunt later this month.
    Got some of these andn168 gr Berger Hybrids. I don't like the hybrids bullet explosions as opposed to the TA weight retention. I took a couple of deer with the Berger. Not comfortable using it on elk.
    That late season elk hunt is a draw I had to win and got me two cow tags.

    Took a pronghorn with a 175g TA. Seemed to have worked well. 30 cal hole on one side and a 1 and half inch hole on the other side. Took two or three steps and fell down dead in about 5 seconds. Shot was about 150 yds.

    My 12 year old granddaughter killed a 320 6X6 bull elk at 370 yard with a 155 loaded in a 7mm Wby Mag. 1st cold shot was 3,301. Estimated impact velocity = 2,853. Dropped him in one shot. Bullet recovered weighed 86%.

    My favorite rounds, when I see them on the shelf for the .300 WM I buy them all lol! I found some 185 grain Bergers which will be in there. During ammo shortage bought Noslers for $100 a box and these are $60 a box and AMAZING rounds of ammo!

    The bottom half of the terminal ascent is fully made of copper alloy (guilding metal). That's why you'll never get it to expand below that level.

    TA for the win, I prefer these to my own hand loads in certain calibers. My .308, 7mm mag, and 300 win love the factory rounds. 30-06 Remington 700 loves them. Howa 1500 in 30-06 isn’t a fan.

    Like the effort...I have had occasions where I'm loaded to shoot 500 yards but had shots well inside 100 yards...bullets usually exploded on a rib..no bullets material actually found inside the animal...so try archery range.

  • @TurboTaco2JZ

    It seems a lot of the length comes from the fact there is a ton of copper on the tail end of the projectile. Assuming the cross section photo on the federal site is accurate.

    There’s no doubt the results speak for themselves, but I don’t see anything that would make me switch from a 180 Accubond in my 300 WIn Mag. After all, on game performance has been outstanding with the Accubond. .

    • @frontlinerejects8029
      @frontlinerejects8029  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personally like the Accubond more than the Terminal Ascent. Andres is the opposite though, he loves the TA and runs them in 300 and 308.
      It's apples to apples with these two projectiles, whichever one you prefer is going to be more than fine and if your gun shoots them well no reason to switch!

    • @frontlinerejects8029
      @frontlinerejects8029  ปีที่แล้ว

      Part of our goal here was to see if we could get a 200 grainer in the 300 WM past 3000 fps, so we sourced the powder which gave us the fastest velocity we could find data for and loaded slightly above max recommended charge. We didn't see any pressure signs but I wouldn't necessarily recommend anyone else do the same. Manufacturers tend to go with slightly slower but less temperature sensitive powders.
