- A very compromised location and a plain quarter wave using the telescopic MRQ213 whip .. no problem! My first ever 6m QSOs!

My favourite band! Nice one Tim, 6m is so good, Sporadic E would be great over there!
Hey mate I need more 50 megs action
Well done on the 6m QSO's Tim, that's in now you will be hooked. One of my favourite bands. 73 Chris M0RSF
You may well be right Chris!
Nice one Tim 👍
It's a great band when it's active.
Thanks Ronan it was a lot of fun
It’s always fun making the first contacts on a new band or mode.
Totally agree Mike!
Hi Tim, that looks like a lot of fun! Great contact.
It was! Looking forward to your field day footage Tracy!
Nice contacts, Tim.
Using the same setup I made QSO between Cumbria and the Czech Republic around a month ago.
That’s a cracker
Well done tim, I used a yagi on 6m, still never heard out on than ever hi. Used to love the rain in the uk summer.
2c here with frost.
Have a nice weekend.
Thanks my friend
Great stuff! Now get onto 4m ☺️
Agh ha!! I need to
73 merci.
Nice! I’ve had operating privileges on 6m since 1979 and a 6m capable radio since 2006 but never had a QSO. Maybe today will be my first time. It IS Field Day.
Fingers crossed!!
I've never made a phone contact on 6M.....good on you...!!
Thanks! Its nice to do new stuff 73
Another aerial that works a treat on 6 (and is dirt cheap) is a 2 metre 5/8 wave..
It loads up as a base loaded 1/4 wave and according to my MFJ analyser, is resonant
Sounds intriguing wonder what the pattern looks like
Well done and welcome to the Magic Band, looking forward for some F2 to QSO with you, 73 de Juan TG9AJR EK44sl
Thank you Juan 73
Real great little video! What is the mag mount you're using? I was able to find distributors for the whip but not so much for the mag mount to fit it. Thanks and 73!
Single mag from Nevada in England
Nice to see that you had the "freeband" on 27.525 on VFO B - purely for checking the RX conditions of course 🙃
Unfortunately in Germany we are only allowed to work from stationary station in horizontal polarization only. Absolutely obsolete in my eyes! There will be however be a change with the new regulation coming next year which will allow 750W on 6m. Maybe and hopefully they will align that band to what is already possible in other countries on the European continent.
And of course, thank you for sharing your experiences 😊
Yep monitoring 11 helps for 10!! 73
Update: the new regulation text is online. In Germany it will stay with horizontal polarization and stationary operation only. Again other countries are laughing about Germany... But power restrictions are lifted up to 750W ERP - on a "magic" QRP band. Well,...
good vid. i thought 6m ssb was horizontally polariized. would that have improved your tx/rx?
Maybe so but for sporadic E it isn’t a deal breaker.
Tim I have more QSL Cards for 6m than any other band all ssb contacts.
Nice
