    Description
    Today Eric is talking about BEARD BALM. We often get asked the differences between our Utility Balm and Styling Balm. Both are great products, but are designed for different purposes. Listen up as Eric goes into detail about what exactly this awesome stuff is, and how it is used.
    ABOUT BEARDBRAND
    Beardbrand is a men’s grooming company that is helping men keep on growing by providing education and tools for urban beardsmen to master their morning routine. We’ve found that confidence starts with self investment, and allows men to do great things for their families, co-workers, and community. We are working to break down the negative stereotypes that surround bearded men, and show the world it’s the man who matters, not the way he looks.

    That was really clear, and really helpful. Thanks. My current pattern is to use oil twice per day, and then styling balm as needed, when I particularly want to look smart. Which fits in very nicely with what you said on the video. Perfect.

      Is it ok to use it after shaving

    • @earlgreybeard
      @earlgreybeard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AshTheDuke Is that a clean shave, or just a clean up around the beard? If you are clean shaving, balm might be a bit sticky, depending on which you are using. Styling balm in particular is used to hold your beard in place to some extent.

    I've used balms over butters and oils for a few years now and I feel like my beard is way healthier and less itchy. Of course using a good shampoo and conditioner is always the cornerstone of good beard health but a balm will give you much more moisture and hold overall in my opinion.

    • @Holden_McHock

      @user-kk2ue1ns4g I usually shower every other day to let to get the dirt, dead skin, and dust out of my beard and let the natural oils come back in my skin, I really like SheaMoisture balm post shower when my beard is towel dried, then on the off day I use the same brand of beard oil in the morning and once at night. Even on the off day my beard still feels clean and moisturized.

    I watched your Beard Oil vs. Beard Balm Published on Jul 23, 2015. In that video you said you CAN use both oil and balm together - "absolutely" to be exact. But in this video you say to use one or the other, not both "it's not necessary to use both."
    Being new to the bearded community just want to be sure I'm doing what is best. Thanks - ks

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can definitely use both together. The oil will help keep the hair healthy and balm will help hold your style.

    Will warm water be sufficient to remove the beard balm/oil once u've applied them or a beard wash be necessary?

  • @Venitius
    @Venitius 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I bought the gold line balms including Temple Smoke, Four Vices and Old Money. I must say that the first 2 scents are really faint. It's quite a shame that it disappears so quickly. It seems to hold a bit better and longer on my skin though. I wonder if I should have gone for the oils instead. Some reviews report that the scent is different between the balm and oil.
    I understand that sometimes people want to put something more subtle in their beard, but in this case it's almost like blank slate after a few minutes.
    Gold Money is however great. I must say that from all the balm I tried, BeardBrand balms have the best texture and best conditioning properties. Others brand I tried were too heavy on the beard.

    • @jasonvoorhees8899
      @jasonvoorhees8899 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Too heavy ? Isn't that what we want so the beard could be held in place better ?

  • @radostinkolev559
    @radostinkolev559 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice video Eric, it's very kind of you to spread education around !
    I have samples of both Utility and Styling balm.
    I'm very satisfied with the utility balm : a job done, the scent of Old Money - just perfect.
    About the styling balm I would say that as a person who rocks a very thick and straight head and facial hair this medium hold doesn't really manage to do the job for me. Actually I don't see any difference from the hold the utility balm gives to my beard. When it comes to my head hair which I like spiky and straight up to the sky with matte effect on it. This kind of appearance differs a lot from the features of the styling balm from Beardbrand.
    That's the reason I drop this comment here, to make a suggestion for a new hair style product with a stronger hold and matte look. Perhaps a pomade or a texture paste. I can already smell my favourite fresh and crispy Tea Tree scent from here.
    Thank you Beardbrand ! Keep on growing !
    Kind regards,
    Radostin Kolev

    Hey Eric @Beardbrand,
    thanks for another informative video.
    I've started with Beard OIL during my first month to lower the itch. Now after 1.5 months my beard feels more like "hair" - not so scruffy, dead dry, but it's curly.
    I'm thinking of taming it. Can I use Hair Styling Paste on my beard instead of Styling balm? Especially my mustache is quite coarse growing. Therefore I think it would be better to comb it to the sides than to trim above the lip.

  • @oldwest517

    I like balm in the morning -- rub the excess into my neck and throat skin. I need a touch of beard wax to control the wild hairs and make it look smooth. And then I like some beard oil in the evening when things are feeling a little dry again. I use pretty much all Honest Amish products except for my moustache wax -- I like Firehouse for that. At some point I want to try some Beard Brand products, but I'm a sucker for the convenience of Amazon, I must confess, so I keep putting it off... Great videos on this channel.

      There's a trick I learned with the harder beard balm. I turn my thumbnail over to "scoop" out the amount of product I want - this softens it up. Then it's warmed up and ready to rub into hands, then beard.

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was it the utility balm or styling balm? Shoot Keith an email at support@beardbrand.com and we can work through it. Utility Balm is sensitive to temperatures so if it's cold out it'll be harder and if it's warmer out it'll be softer. If you aren't happy with it, we'd be happy to exchange it for another product free of charge.

      Beardbrand styling balm will offer significantly more hold that the Utility Balm does. However, it doesn't offer the same moisturizing qualities. Some people combine the oil and the styling balm and have had good results from that. -Parker
