    Funny that touching fire will kill you within a couple seconds but dropping a napalm bomb and trash mobs of small bugs walk through it no problem.

      been bringing this up for the longest time, how dumb fire and gas is even with the recent damage buffs it doesn't address the problems at all and it seems like the devs never even bothered with fire effects on enemies within the games mechanics, there's no animation for writhing in pain or slow or anything they either just stand there like they've been EMS or walk through it and don't die fast enough

    Just reduce hulk tick damage and self harm fire damage. thats all we need. OR fire armor. I mean they gave us electric armor which was nice but uhhhh the electric weapons and strategems arent that great tbh, imo

      Uh.. the arc thrower is still a very good weapon, especially against automatons/hulks. But it's true, no one would use the electric armor, since it would only make sense on maybe a team of 4 arc users. Otherwise, you would just watch your aim and use something more useful, like explosion protection or stim booster. I would also never wear a fire armor just because of fire hulks. Only situation that would be great is maybe while using a flamethrower myself. On automatons, explosion reduction would still be by far superior. Flamethrower hulks are annoying, but you can handle them with grenades/arc fairly easy.

      After watching another solo Helldive, I'm convinced that we need the full firebat and bugzapper set. Arc armor has a "static" buildup that occasionally blasts things close to you. The firebat gives like 95% fire damage resistance and "overheat" which immolates things too close. It may turn out to be OP, but damn would it be satisfying against the melee bots and especially the Hunters!

    If enemies can catch you on fire by touching you while they are on fire they should also catch each other on fire.

    Only problem with Fire is just the initial damage. Losing 90% of your health from the hit and then having a split second to react with a stim is unfun. one-shots do not make the game more difficult, it just makes it frustrating. and this might be an unpopular opinion, but headshots in this game are dumb, extra damage is fine, but the fact enemies have the ability to one shot us when they are AI with aimbot (Not aimbot as in their shots always hit, but the fact they can still fire directly at us from miles away is dumb)

      Yeah being insta killed by a flame hulk makes them take priority 1 against all other things. And the headshot damage increase is fine. Bit even in the heavy armor with the highest armor rating, I've been instant killed by grunts before. Really annoying to be instant killed.

      In the words of someone vlogging their deployments in Ukraine, "it takes aiming a barrel 2mm up or down to kill or completely miss you". I can count on one hand how many headshots actually hit me, and it seems totally fine that headshots are far more lethal... makes you feel less like a bullet sponge charging enemies as they shoot you a few dozen times.

    My main issue is the fire tornado's pathing, especially when you waste 8-10 min for it to get off the main objectives simultaneously.

      i believe, they actually made those try to kill you. The fire tornadoes was "too easy" so they made the ai actually follow players. This is why it sometimes feels like they are actually trying to take you out and not randomly walk about.

      I about lost my faith in arrowhead myself with the nerfs to helldiver weapons and loadout. Trying to tell us how to play and in what style.
      1 million of them only 4 of us, but we get the nerfs. Yeah, I don't like that at all, only 3 usable weapons. 2 reliable strategems. The point is there should not be ANY wrong answers.

      ​@@alexlane9099 Tf are you talking about? They buffed way more weapons than they nerfed, and there are many more viable loadout now, the diversity is present in every match. And I find myself changing my loadout almost every mission, depending on planet, mission type, enemy, and planet modifiers.
      If you find only 3 weapons and only 2 stratagems "usable/reliable", with all respect, but that says more about you as a player, and not about balance in the game.

    Shooting a jetpack trooper 10m from you only for it to rag doll, explode, and set you on fire killing you instantly isn’t a skill check. Thats not difficultly, that’s annoying. Difficulty is having a hard boss in a souls game that pushes the players reaction time, patience, and adaptability. While games like the first Division just spawns a rusher that W keys you with a million health and one shots you with a shotgun from a 100m away.
    If you can’t contrast the differences between actual difficulty, and annoying artificial jank then go play dark souls 2, then dark souls 3. Maybe then you’ll learn about what a actual skill check is in comparison to annoying jank.

      If anything, fire Hulks are the easy ones, because they need to get close before one shoting you. Rockets on the other hand...
      Not to mention, they nerfed bile spewer for the same exact reason people bitch about fire damage, a small grace would just kill you instantly, but NOW fire is not an issue?
      Just shows how arrowhead have no idea what they are talking about .

    Fire damage is ridiculous right now. You should not die so quickly walking through burning grass which would be a minor burn at worst. Even with a relatively direct flamethrower hit, you should last longer than a couple seconds. I think what they should do is make it less damaging but stickier. If you get sprayed with flamethrower goo it should stick to you for a longer period of time, doing less damage per second for more seconds. If you walk through a flame you should get less damage per second for only as long as you are in contact with the flame.

    The hulk fire damage isnt really physical accumulating damage. Its an auto kill. They did it on purpose to get a laugh at everyones demise. They do stuff like that often and admittedly.

      The railgun Nerf was understandable, that thing could consistently One-Shot bile Titans.

It never deserved it in the first place because of the PS5 bug, now we have the quasar which is almost objectively better than the pre nerf railgun and no one is throwing a fit. Weird fan base man.

      ​@@everfreesnarrations35Also just to be clear, that's just misinformation. The railgun could never consistently one shot Bile titans unless the host of the game was on PS5. If you were a PC host it took 3-5 shots.

      @@everfreesnarrations35Literally addressed last patch that there was a bug making console and PC players have variations between damage namely being if a PS5 player was present in a lobby then literally everyone other than them could 1 shot Bile Titans with the Railgun and could 2 shot with the Arc Thrower. Ever since that bugs been patched there have been no more cases of 1-2 shotting Bile Titans with either of the problem weapons which meant that the weapons themselves weren't the problem and needed nerfing, it was a bug multiplying the damage enemies would take so now the Railgun is a wasted stratagem slot and the Arc Thrower has nerfed range and still is buggy and misfires.

    For the hulk flame damage nothing is wrong with the burn damage its the initial hit. The first contact damage at times can either instantly kill you or rip off 50% or more of your hp giving you no time to even dive sometimes.

    There was no reason for them to buff fire damage for both players and enemies to begin with. Player damage was all that needed to be brought up some

    they buffed fire several times becasue no one was using it, the actual problem was the dot damage not working on enemies unless you were the host. but fire damage to us didnt rely on host dynamics. This is why we fall over immediatley but it still sucks 90% of the time against mobs.

    Dude, they kept buffing fire over and over again, even with the new ship module BECAUSE they didn't understand the host dot bug - so fire became OP AF because they kept buffing it - it needs to be level set

    Breaker incendiary users are the new arc thrower team killers. It only takes one pellet to set you on fire and almost insta-kill you. Watch your spray and pray

    btw if you dive you immediately stop burning, and you can avoid the flamethrower entirely but proning/diving to the ground

    Fire does not need nerfed vs Enemies. Fire needs nerfed vs players only, or give fire resistant armor. Either one of those. Fire is good vs enemies. It shouldnt be useless like it was when the game started. The complaints of how bad the game feels because of the changes are entirely talking about the player getting insta downed. Guaranteed, its not about how fire burns enemies... that part is really good and enjoyable. That said, i think fire is good to be a strong damage over time while applied to the players, just give players a few seconds to use a Stim instead of instadown death like you were hit by a rocket

    IRL, fire itself doesn't instantly kill a person. It's not like we just jumped into a lava pool.
    I'd rather have damage over time increased rate if you are running, and slower if you walk or stop, and be put out if you dive and hit the dirt. Perhaps blurred vision as an effect or stratagem lock out if on fire (signal interference, can assume same for fire effectiveness vs bots).
    Initial damage should be reduced. Our fleshy bits aren't exposed since we wear armor and a helmet. Armored bugs are/should be more resilient as well (preheat the pot vs setting the food on fire).
    As is, it's silly to take out a teammate with fire damage with one stray incendiary shotgun pellet.

    The main problem with enemy fire damage today is its inconsistency. There are moments where it works properly and you slowly burn, giving you the proper time to react, while in other moments you die instantly from max health. Personally I'm against specific fire resistant armor. I just would like the armor ratings to work properly. Heavier armor means more resistance (you still burn, but at a lower pace) and much slower movement, and vice-versa with the light armor.

    Fire was buffed. This just might bring it back down to what it was meant to be, especially if they're about to fix DoT.
    I'll be playing either way, so i don't really care, just maybe this will mean people will actually go to Hellmire/Menkent when the MO requires it.

      I would be willing to go back to Hellmire lol. Wasted 7 minutes as fire tornadoes kept going over the geo terminal, but killed all the bugs in the process lol.

      @Suzuki_Hiakura lol. Hellmire is my favorite. Menkent was good too, but Hellmire just hit different. Monstrous alien insects leaping at you out of a haze cut by flaming whirlwind. It couldn't be a bigger horror scene.

    Completely agree, self fire damage is way too high and it seems like you get insta killed at times. Its the worst when bugs that dont die from your firre jump to you and catch you on fire and you die before you can dive. Doesnt need a massive nerf, but it makes comolete sense to slightly lower this.

    I think they should nerf fire so they can justify giving incendiary weapons to our enemies. Being set on fire requires helldivers to act in a ways contrary to standard play, but in the current build of the game, those two ways are to anticipate burning by diving immediately, or die. Sometimes both.
    It'd be neat to give bots things like incendiary lasers, napalm mortars, and flame tanks, or deal with the terminids by fighting giant fire mantises and oil bugs that leave oil clouds on death, but instant kill fire would render these ideas superficial since you'd instantly die all the same.

    You know what I'd like fixed, more consistency in killing Bile Titans with reinforcements. The fact that you can absolutely nail a titan while spwaning in and basically do zero damage to it is really frustrating.

    If you didnt know you can dive and it will put the fire out. But even then, if you're not full health and catch on fire, you're most likely gonna die. But having full health gives you a second window at least to react. So Dive!
    But yes, I had been saying fire resistance armor should be a thing. Theres an entire Warbond thing dedicated to Arc Resistant armor for the arc gun, so why not fire?

    They just need to deal with the DoT damage to divers specifically. Especially the tiny ground fires from stuff like fire tornadoes. You really just need a second or two more to stim. But the nigh invisible fire patches should do little to no damage at all. Maybe there can be several levels of the damage as the fires burn down.

    Every time I dive out of the way of the space hulks flame, I don't take much damage. Makes it more of a challenge to dive accurately. Their damage area is actually in an arc usually, as you can mostly dive down the slightest incline to avoid damage. 500lbs is the same, sadly. Was ragdolled with it in my hand, and I dove and took cover with a hill barely clearing my head and survived a mere 4 meters from the bomb... a damn shame imo.     I always believe that Helldiver dev team should follow this simple rule, make whatever tool we have as deadly as possible, but also the collateral damage should terrify your teammates. I don't mind hulk vaporizing me , if I can melt his steel buddies with my napalm strike at the same rate. Along the same lines, the left over flames on the ground from fire tornados. If I get instantly melted by those, enemies should really shatter if they touch napalm as well.

    I think the devs should use this opportunity aside readjusting the DoT of the flames is to train/encourage players to instead shoot the flamethrower arm, which in turn rewards the players dealing massive but not lethal damage to the Hulks, the devs can adjust the damage depending if the flamerthrower on the hulk is in use.
    What dislike of late is gunning down the drops ships doesnt kill the crew onboard.
    Any advice in a gunfire how to deal with devastors? Feels like they are bullet sponges sometimes even with the scorcher energy rifle. There are youtube guides that advice players to instead "disarm" devastors and hulks with medium penatration weapons. Legs, Arms instead of going for a headshot, but my monkey brain want to see head got boom boom.

    I’ve got the new buff to fire damage the 25% or whatever it is and now I’m not killing chargers as easy as I used to. It takes me a lot longer it’s crazy.

      That is a bug, listed on the known-issues section of the previous patch. The superior packaging methodology ship module also doesn't work.

      Probably because of the DoT issue. You might not be the network host, or might have been in the past. I've been running the Flamethrower and I've definitely noticed DoT issues. I just like it, so I use it anyway. You can make anything work.

    Being set on fire should force you to stim, that's plenty punishing, and if a hulk gets close enough to torch you, you should be sent to respawn immediately. They're pretty hard to miss, so that's on YOU. Walking over a pittly little flame left over by your orbital laser though? That shouldn't melt you.

    I only have issues with fire damage when I'm running light armor... but that's the trade off to using light armor.
    I wish players would stop demanding to make the game easier, I'd rather them make it harder.

    I found out if you just prone, not dive, you can dodge the flame. Granted if you are on an even level of ground or hulk is on higher ground level

    Either way there should be more resist armor. Why did they make Arc resist armor? for friendly fire? It's wierd that you can take a couple missiles to the chest with explosive resist, but die instantly to bile spew.

    Fire is mostly no problem, except the actual bug that makes it so only the host really does damage.
    Flame hulks could stand to actually light you on fire instead of instantly killing you, but I'm still able to get away from them most of the time.
    I think they'll nerf it slightly, and that seems fine to me.
    They over buffed it because of the bug, so being things to baseline

    I think the hulks fire damage though devastating is justifiable. What I don’t like is walking by a candle and dying nearly instantly. In addition to self damage from walking on flames caused by flame throwers from players.

    I dont think fire armor would fix the problem. Here's why. the main problem with fire is that hulks one shot you instantly with fire. well thats a bot mission. you are already running anti explosion armor because MISSILES one shot you without it. so if you switch to anti fire armor the hulks wont insta kill you with fire, but the missile devastators will now insta kill you again with explosion. you cant wear both.
    instant kill one shots are not fun. there should be SOME way to avoid them. if you let bots have TWO distinct instant kills and the only ways to fix it are mutually exclusive then you will ALWAYS have something in bot missions that can one shot you no matter what you do or bring. I dont think thats good. I think fire damage on the player needs to go slower so you have time to dive away and pop a stim to survive.

    At most give players an extra 1 second of DOT time before dying from fire.
    The rest is a lack of skill, mainly situational awareness and positioning.

    most weapons and some stratagems need a AP Buff and some tweaking, for example most rifles bounce bullets, yet should work like med AP to pen on weak points as logically these guns would be using AP ammo by default, then their typical weak damage and low mag sizes might make some sense and you can still drop larger or better armored enemies though less efficiently if needed, while shotguns really need a bit more nock back and stagger, while the slugger should be doing more damage as well and the drum shotguns need a serious upgrade from using birdshot its like seriously? i can only assume they did this because they have buckshot variants in que, but then it renders current shotguns obsolete if so, balance is broken at this point... it basically makes no sense shotguns using birdshot are competing with the slugger for damage to begin with.
    meanwhile we have armor to protect from explosive and arc weapons and even give you a 50% chance to cheat death... but not fire? arc weapons can 1 shot you and explosive weapons can 1 shot you, we have magic armor and though it doesnt make sense for fire weapons to near insta kill, it would make sense to have fire armor and also to tweak how fire damage works, as currently its like your wearing cloths drenched in super reactive thermite, so a spark is all thats needed to kill you...
    realistically flamers should not instantly ignite you from slight contact or do so much damage if exposed for only a second.it should be easy to put out as is when you jump and like now have a short burn time.
    however there should be a stacking multiplier that can be refreshed that multiples the time to burn and damage per tick, so lets say it takes a full 1 second of fire direct exposure to non explosive sources to start your combustion, which starts at 5 second burn time and 40% hp loss if ignored(lets say medium armor), it it gets refreshed during this time it gets a 1.25 multiplier to burn time and a x2 multiplier to damage, so now its 6.25seconds burn and 80%hp loss if ignored, so you can still tuff it if a hulk if flaming your ass for a 3-4 seconds out if you started with full hp and dont get hit again, jab that needle, keep running or jump and prone reducing burn time/damage while u stay in prone, jab etc, so it wont just put it out if you got a solid dose to the face, but it can reduce damage, buy you some time etc...
    while explosive sources involving fire or napalm should be like the hulk experience, if you have full hp, are lucky enough to be outside the instant death blast zone, but still in range to get coated in fire you need to instantly stim or = ur toast.
    my guess is they do have fire resist armor in the pipeline, but have it set up for premium release, hence they dont want to do the logical, but still need to tweak stuff anyways, you would have to be a bit clueless to buff fire damage and enemies and not realize you got a problem in testing... but the devs seem to struggle when it comes to testing, since most their changes are reactive, not pro-active based on their own testing, so they keep missing the obvious any testing would show by default, even things like shooting the chargers leg with armor gone, its so cringe it dies, should be able to blow its leg of and let it limp around still and only die if you take of a second leg, like the bots... the CEO etc was talking about this while playing the game and they acted like "ooo who would have known" if they did basic testing, it should have shown up, which implies they skipped allot of testing before release and pushed it out knowing there were "issues", but probably SONY pushing release.

    Since the helmet still do nothing. Make it to where you can input your own personal mod into your helmet. So if you want fire resistance you could put fire resistance in.

    They NEED to fucking balance the enemies spawn rates (mainly devastators) and their accuracy. No reason for a heavy devastator to be able to beam me across the map hitting 80% oh its shots even when being “suppressed”. I like arrowhead but they really can’t balance for shit.

    Honestly yes maybe tone down hulks range of that flame at least. If they can get it so everyone on the team can deal damage over time rather than just the network host for both gas and fire first and then tweak fire.

      The arc resistent armor was a dumb idea as well. Instead of giving us something cool with this bundle we got the same armor thrice. Maybe for friends playing together? I see not use for this and I do not for fire armor.

      Arc armor can be used to extend the arc thrower’s range. It is NOT just to avoid friendly fire.

      The difference is fire resist armor is great if you use flamethrower cause you catch yourself on fire often. Other than that it just takes a bit of restraint not to cook your teammates and know when to use it.

    What about fire damage from fire tornados? If 1 inch touches you, you die.
    What about fire damage from jump pack bots who jump at you, when you shoot at them they blow up and cause fire damage to you and insta kill you if they're in melee range?
    That to me is more BS than the Hulk flamethrower as you can see the hulks coming at you most of the time
    Also you thinking the flamethrower the player can use needing a buff. I strongly disagree. You can kill a charger in 1/4 of your cannister. And its amazing at mob control.

    They don't have to nerf the damage to bugs, they just have to nerf its damage to helldivers. I have been killed many times by my teammates' flame thrower through terrain and very far away, same with Hulk flames. Goes through walls and rocks. This is Def a bug and should be fixed. The damage to hell divers is not equivalent to the damage to even the smallest bugs, they take many seconds to die and helldivers die almost instantly.

    Not so much worried about the fire damage as I am playing the game for about half an hour or so and then being kicked!!!! that really sucks!! you collect collect no XP you end up with nothing for the time that you put in. I would recommend they fix the bugs first!!!

      Yeah they're definitely nerfing fire across the board to what it was on launch. The only buff to fire would be the Stratagem buff but Breaker Incendiary, Incendiary nades and Thermite will absolutely get destroyed. Although that last one might get a buff since everyone's been complaining about thermite's being useless on bugs.

    Oh, the stim thing....very tired of pressing the key for applying a stim 5, 6, 7 times and it doesn't use the stim and you die because the game is not registering that you pressed the damn key. Just for clarification, I have an AMD 5800x3d, an RTX 4080, 1gig download, and 40mbps upload, 32 gigs of ram. Now to be fair I have not done a ping test or tested packet loss or anything to the actual helldivers 2 servers but my system, internet specs should be more than capable of running the game and registering when I press the stim key. I have no problem with weapons registering every time I click the mouse button or calling in strategems or anything else, JUST the damn stims.

    It needs a nerf or fix tbh. One lick from a flamer hulk and you are dead. It only needs to touch the back of your cape. Thats insane. Yesterday at evac fire tornado dies down, the ground is visually no longer on fire. I'm carrying every sample we had.. I walk to the pelican.. and catch on fire, by the time I dove and thried to stim I'm dead. Lucky for us the other 2 ppl were at the base of the pelican, picked up the loot and evacuated before the bots stormed the pelican.

    look i think the fire damage armor is the answer we got blast and arc resistant armor the arc is super niche but the flame resistant armor would be SUPER usefull!!! but i know creating armor assets and a warbond for them to be in takes time so! i suggest a middleground slight nerf for now on flame damage while the assets are made and implemented then buff it when fire is released. this will also encourage players to spend money to buy the flame risistant armor to help negate all fire damage providing longevity to the game. Arrowhead if you read this and need someone to help strategise releases let me know XD

    Personally I would lower fire damage by about 10% and give us fire resistance armour. Pre fire buff fire was a joke. After the buff it really dose kill you super fast if you are not paying attention and if you are half dead anyways it’s harder. But I do think it’s a tad too much
