It's amazing how you can walk all around in there and nobody is there to stop you! You are sure walking in Elvis's footsteps...gives me goosebumps!!!!!👍👌
Just goes to show that sometimes you just have to move forward and act like you know what you are doing and oftentimes no one will say anything or stop you.
I wanted to share with you my experience of seeing Elvis perform at Terre Haute as a 15 year old. When tickets went on sale, we arrived probably 4 to 5 hours before the ticket office opened. The line was already almost out to Cherry Street in front of the entrance. By the time tickets began selling, the line extended all the way out to Cherry, west to 8th Street, and then north on 8th Street and past the edge of the west side of the building. Our seats were actually very good. In your video as you walked into the center, you will notice to your right where there is a large entrance and above it is a FORD sign and a green GO Sycamores sign. We sat in the row of seats not above, but directly to the left, of the GO Sycamores sign. I remember I thought my aunt Mary was going to leap the dozen feet to the concrete below from her seat! Seeing Elvis in person was incredible. When he came onto the stage, it was literally surreal and left me with a sensation I have never had before or since. My mother still has at least one ticket stub from the concert. Thanks !!
My cousin went to that concert! She stood in line for hours to get a ticket, Tom Jones performed there too! I went to the Jones show with my parents I think that show was 1979 ? Lol
Never heard of this city ? But wow ..bet Elvis filled all the seats. Those 7-8 yrs touring in his final yrs was an amazing feat. Just amazing to see photos and the match ups. Brings history back to life. Thanks Spa Guy. This was a hard working singer...going to and froo
I believe the Hampton Inn was the Best Western at that time. There used to be a glass elevator that was on the northeast side of the hotel. I'm working on finding some pictures of it that I'll share with you. You also forgot to mention that Larry Bird played his college basketball in the Hulman Center.
Another door opens for you and you're inside the stadium, wow! Just like when you walked into the auditorium at the Hilton, Las Vegas, a magic moment Billy.
Love it. The door was unlocked. Hulman was also instrumental with the Indy 500 Race. I was in the building for an event when I was in high school. I didn't know E performed here in 75.
We were born and raised in Terre Haute, and I remember seeing Elvis' tour buses there. The Hulman Center hasn't changed in all this time, until now. I was 8 years old, my husband 9, when Elvis played there. Was the biggest event to ever hit Terre Haute. Lots of great people played there. Great video.
I live in Terre Haute and the Hulman Center is just a few miles away from where I live. This is also the same arena where Larry Bird played in his college days before moving on to become an NBA legend.
Your videos of Elvis are the coolest. It's so amazing to see all the places that was part of Elvis' life, especially for someone like me that lives in another country( south Africa). I absolutely adore Elvis and give God all the glory for giving him to us for 42 years. He was an amazing human being. I dont care what people say I know Elvis loved Jesus with his whole heart and is in heaven waiting for us to join him. 😃
You are Spoiling Us All with these AMAZING "Now and Then" photo comparisons Billy!.....But I sure as heck ain't complaining......More, More More!!!!! You are AMAZING with your research!!!
Another fantastic video. I saw Elvis in concert in 1977 at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, OK. Greatest performance I ever witnessed. If you're ever this way, I would love to see what you could find out about it.
Indiana looks nice, thanks for more of Elvis Presley travels. Wish we were seeing his legacy in person. But your videos keep going on with your own experience to let people know about the King of Rock & Roll. 👑💜💥
Thank you billy 1975 my favourite year of elvis that voice the best how l would have loved to have been there at that arena to see the photos of him coming to the arena man what joy
Billy 💕 I appreciate you taking us on all your adventures. It’s so exciting to see Elvis’s History through all your hard work and commitment ~ Thank you so very much for all you do~May God Bless you and your family 🙏💜💗💜🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🙏
The Holiday Inn was tore down and a completely new one is in your video, and the hotel Elvis stayed at got a major remodel but retained the majority if the original, except when Elvis was there it had an exposed glass Elevator in the front. The Motel behind was called the Albert Pick, the hotel Elvis stayed at had a popular lounge, I believe it was called the “Jester”
I have the Tulsa locations (fairgrounds, Civic Center & Mabee Center) along with the Hotels (and pics) where he stayed. His last concert in Tulsa was July 4, 1976 our Nations Bicentennial.
I enjoy all your Elvis videos. I particularly like your revisits to Elvis in Concert venues. I found another youtube channel called 'The Kings Court'. The gentleman on that channel - Ed concentrates on Elvis music. His parents presented Elvis with a plaque from their Kings Court' fan club backstage at Nassau Coliseum in long island ny in 1973. Ed went to that venue with his parents at age of 6 in 1975. If you ever do a video of Elvis's Nassau long island ny shows of 1973, 1975 and posthumous 1977 show, they would be first hand fans who attended shows in NY and Connecticut. Also I saw a video of Elvis and Ed's mom receiving a scarf from Elvis at Nassau Coliseum in long island ny.
Really enjoyed the video, as always. That arena is quite a bit smaller than Elvis was used to playing. I know at that time though, he was purposely playing smaller towns and smaller venues so that fans who might not have a chance to see him otherwise could do so.
It wasn't Hampton INN then (can't remember what it was) and had a glass elevator on the front on 3rd st . The Holiday INN was a 2 story hotel with a very popular lounge in the front facing the Hampton .
Great video thanx Spa Guy❤ you should receive an achievement award for all the work you do really. But unbelievable that Sonny and Red were present up to even this concert. They were so much a part of Elvis' life, I cannot believe still to this day that they were fired. Would love to know more about the reason, maybe you have a background story, I don't know, I haven't come across it yet. But there has to be more to that story.
Rita I believe the reason was they tried to get him in rehab in Denver Colorado Spring of 1976 and he refused.. Shortly after that they were fired.. That is what in my opinion was the real reason..
Hey Billy, another great video. Hampton Inn as a chain did not exist until 1984, so I am thinking they either retrofit the existing hotel/motel and made it a Hampton Inn or they razed it and built the current hotel on the same location.
No wonder he got so tired of being on the road, I would have picked top notched hotels to stay in if I were him haha..... Us business travelers have to deal with Hampton Inns but if I was a legend I would be picking some better spots.....
It's not always easy to stay in the best places, and it's not always about the money. Logistics, time constraints and common sense also play a part in selecting accommodations for any touring musician, even a king...
It wasn't a Hampton Inn in 1975. Probably a Hilton or something similar. I stayed in that hotel a couple years ago and had no idea Elvis stayed there or that the building is that old.
@@StaciW-Italia2309 Hampton Inn was not started until 1984, so either they retrofit the existing hotel/motel or it was razed and the Hampton Inn was built on the same location.
@@MissileD11 That makes sense....either a gut rehab or rebuilt on the same site. I remember thinking this hotel isn't newly built but maybe 20 yrs old.
Billy I haven’t seen those pics. Can you post them someplace stopped so I can enlarge them do I can see them better? If they were still I could enlarge them but their moved so quickly I can’t get a look at them.
The hotel parking lot has been heavily remodeled. The motel next door clearly is the same building but even the concrete steps that Red was at the top of are gone. Which is kind of odd to me that they would tear up the whole parking lot and eliminate the steps.
Amazing video, you´re a genius, I had been looking into this place through Google maps and I imagine that he did not stop at the Holiday Inn as some fans claimed and wrongly criticized that Elvis stayed in such an ordinary hotel. Do you know what the name of the hotel was in 1975?
So strange I've been watching your vids for the last couple weeks while working on my spa. I saw this vid and noticed you came to terre haute. We live like 12 minutes away. I thought you were based in florida. What brought you this way?
I'm not a subscriber because I don't have a card to pay for to be, but I have a story, not sure if it's true though...I was told that in Bernie, Missouri he stayed at a house of cousins, probably stayed a night,... again not sure if true... Their name was Keathlys if I'm spelling it right..I was about 13 or 14 when I heard this, ...hung around Bernie alot back in the day, again I don't know if any truth to the story......also, I know your more about Elvis 🤗 my favorite...but also in Bernie, Missouri..Norval Phelps went to school..he now lives in Malden, Missouri, next town to Bernie...
Elvis see and done so much in a short life time , no wonder it wore him down fast, Elvis had big talent at this point in his career he should have retired with millions in the bank, not work like his career was just starting, Elvis had bad management and Elvis didn't know how to handle his affairs ☺
