- SAM stands for Signal Acquisition Module. A SAM module (also called Signal Actuation Module) receives data from sensors, switches, and controllers, and can send data, actuate (activate) components and monitor systems. Mercedes-Benz has been using SAM modules since the mid-90s.

I have same identical vehicle. 2008 ML350.... will that scanner diagnose if a one of the SAM modules is completely out? Fuses relays. My tail lights stay on, alarm on and with gas gauge malfunctioning sitting at zero.

I have a 2021 GLS450
I installed heated/cooled cup holder instead standard cupholder.
Connected wires to positive, negative and rear SAM( plug just with 3 wires)no more addition wires. Cup holder doesn’t work(I have 2 brand new cup holders, problem not in cup holders)brought to dealer and they said no any function in there scanner/computer to activate cup holder.
Any suggestions ?

I have trouble when I start the engine
When I put the key on number 2 position the lights on the dash goes off and the car won’t turn it loose the power I have to take the key out and try couple times than it works
Is that a key problem or ignition?
Im not getting power to the rear sam s55 AMG 04 i moved rear sam and battery was still connected foolish mistake but when i jump the rear sam from the battery it works fine car start right up can you please help me
Hello Keith i am a big fan of your work and i own a Mercedes GL450 2008 model . My Doors central locks open when am driving and the trunk tailgate only opens automatically but doesn't close automatically. could it be a faulty Rear SAM
The doors unlocking sounds like some funky SAM behavior. The trunk not closing may be related but might also be the hydraulic mechanism acting up. I would definitely start by looking for DTC errors in the SAM modules.
Wow would this device be able to see what is possibly draining battery over night by checking the rear and front Sam see what reads on or don’t work that way ?????
Where can I find the TCM in my 2006 ml350?
That means the front seats control is not from Rear SAM. My m 350 2006 both front seats are not working. This happend suddenly yesterday. Plz guide me what i should do. Regards

Good Morning Keith, What's the best scan tool for clearing codes on a Mercedes? I have a 2006 ML500 and it is always putting out malfunction codes.
The best one is three Star Diagnostics but it's also the most expensive and the most complicated to use. To clear OBD related codes any old scanner will work. To clear Mercedes specific DTC codes including ABS, Airbag codes etc. I use the carsoft scanner.
Clearing codes is only a fix for random secondary faults.
Recurent DTC's need to be addressed to regain sanity.
Every fault needs studying 😅
@@glasser2819 100% correct. I hope i did not give the impression that we should just clear codes. Let's fix the problem, or the codes will just reappear.

Sounds like a bad harness. Did you hook up a scanner to see if it's front or rear?

@@iRepairAutos I have a scanner that shows a rear Sam error. One symptom is the right tail light does not come on. The windshield wiper sprayer also does not work. May or may not be the result of the bad Sam.

What error codes do you have? Is the drive authorization activated? What diagnostic scanner do you own.

Greetings iRepair autos, my 2008 ML350 L/F door lock and power window not working at all. Have already replaced door lock actuator and window master switch. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Check the power to the switch and lock. The icarsoft scanner does this. Also check the fuse and relay for the door.

I have '03 E320, my left brake light not working. Could be bad sam unit. Will this tester reset the light or could sam be bad?
it could be a burnt out contact point on the light housing assembly. There is a upgrade wire kit for this. I have a video on this replacement here: th-cam.com/video/1thMN_vUjzI/w-d-xo.html
