Maybe the saddest thing about Eren's tragic life is that he wasn't even able to really enjoy the last few years he had with his friends because all he can think about 24/7 is "I become the worst mass murderer in history and there's nothing I can do to prevent it."
I think the implication is even worse than that, actually. Eren *could* have prevented the Rumbling. But whenever he came to one of the moments he had foreseen, he always made the same decision he predicted, because to do otherwise would’ve been counter to his nature. For instance, Eren foresaw that he would save Ramzi from being beaten up. He *could* have let Ramzi be beaten up by the merchants. But Eren hates injustice with a fiery passion, so when the moment actually came, he couldn’t help but save Ramzi. Eren wasn’t so much a slave to destiny, he was more a slave to his own nature. So in the end, it’s more like “I become the worst mass murderer in history, and it’s ultimately because of my own choices”.
