@@HobbyClubhouse the fact that they keep lollygaging with the RG line is the reason why I bought a MC Xi Gundam. I am a slut for inner frames and Bandai missed out.
I actually really like this quite a bit. It definitely could use some of the more exaggerated proportions of the movie Xi, but overall I like it better. This particular color distribution makes the design so much better imo
5:26 Those decals I know you see there are some of the ones that came with it 1/100 model kit xi gundam from mechanicore which is also a Chinese brand in Hong Kong which exa brand is known for making model kits with an exaggerated level of detail but also those kits are known for not being suitable for beginners due to the level of experience they require and obviously they are not official and I imagine that someone shared those decals with the company that made this model kit
@@HobbyClubhouse Compared to other 3rd party kits you've built, how... properly fitting do the various parts feel right out of the box? Like, did you need to do any sanding to make any pegs thinner to fit in holes or were there any parts that were too big to fit together without modifications?
Hg xi gundam movie version actually design by hajime katoki. If you look closely have katoki vabe in them but mixed with Seiichi Nakatani design. So technically xi gundam on official one still counts katoki but on revision
Oh yeah, I looked that up just now, so he still did this new version... really wouldn't have ever guessed that. Is anything not done by the guy these days...?
I think why subrise / bandai always use his design because most logical for ms exist in Real wolrd. That why most out dated ms design mostly re deaign by hajime katoki. I predict if cross bone get animated, most of MS in crossbone will be redesign overhaul as well by Hajima katoki
I thought I was the only one crazy enough to own all these 3 kits 😂 . The later MC kits were actually pretty great. I loved the Hi Nu Model comprehend rendition and for the longest time the Xi gundoom was my staple xi in the collection. From what I remember though all the mc kits were off scale? Somewhere around 1/120? Their SD gave me massive headaches BTW 😂 . Never mention their ex-s SD 😂 Sadly I missed out on the Penelope gundoom all those years ago.
There are quite a few of these MC Gundooms out there but it's surprisingly rare to see people who actually own them. And yeah, many of the kits were just any random scale. The fitting of the pieces can be quite a pain, and they laugh in the face of toy safety laws... Hey, me too, I saw the Penelope a total of two times and missed out on getting it twice... still regret it
Any way i somehow can stilm find this anywhere? Just got the hguc from bandai but i find both the og amd katoki design very interesting and would love to display them both
I see them pop up in online auctions from time to time still, but you kinda have to lurk a bit. They weren't super expensive before, but the movie might cause their prices to spike
It always baffles me that they went from something like the Xi and Penelope, all the way down to something to Gundam F91. I mean, I've heard of downsizing but... yeesh!
In the span between Hathaway and F91, the reactor technology has improved dramatically, so they don't need an MS as large as the Xi to mount a reactor that achieves the same output.
SNRI, before they got funding to make the Formula series, wrote up a report from around Hathaway's Flash era talking about how MS sizes are getting out of hand -- they're expensive and they eat up ship space (if they fit at all) -- so SNRI proposed funding research (going to them of course) to produce smaller MSes ...in the real world, Bandai wanted to make smaller kits and still call them 1/100:)
@@HobbyClubhouse The 1/100 scale R-44 Guntank from F91 is the single smallest 1/100 scale kit I've ever built. When they decided to make things smaller, they REALLY decided to make things smaller.
Since the majority of the design of the Bandai HG Xi is shared with the Ka design, all we need is a new head, central chest pieces, and front and back skirts to have the Ka design, so expect a P-Bandai
This design of xi is from the game called GUNDAM EXTREME VS FULL BOOST. And if you watch the gameplay. The xi gundam is accurate and even that big missile pods are accurate too.... So it's perfectly copied. Fine by me if I'll buy this bootleg kit.
Oh, I had no idea it has those missiles in the game, gotta go do some digging. I guess they wanted a sensible place for funnel missiles to come out from so they added that bit of detail
Lemme tell you something Hobby Clubhouse, I just bought the last copy i can buy in my country!
This review really convinced me to buy this one
Dude, your reviews are the best. Thank you!
That black BG was F I N E
Never expected the rarely-used black backdrop to get some love, what a surprise:)
Now the real question is, when will they make a master grade version of the Xi and Penelope Gundam? xD
With the crazy good reception of the movie, I really think they might -- or maybe an RG release, hm...

Thank you so much! I certainly will continue working hard on videos:)
This video makes me wanna buy that kit.
But I remembered how horrible those tight fittings are in 3rd party kits. 😂
The parts really do have a lot of friction, especially ones snapped together. If you make a mistake, then it's a bad time taking it back apart

I prefer xi's design from game/ katoki than original novel. Same goes to gustav karl, messer, penelope
Bandai also agrees. I bet it's more marketable as well because it looks less shocking
Yeah the movie make xi kinda lame ngl
I think with those hexagonal shield things the manufacturer might tried its own take on the Xi's beam barrier.
They do seem to be some sort of barrier, even though the Xi doesn't have anything like that. I love the idea though
@@HobbyClubhouse those I-field units are called Minovsky Craft Emitters

I find the comment about them using traditional Chinese to seem more authentic interesting. Could anyone explain how that might be the case?
So there is only big beam saber?
Oh, I forgot to mention that in the video, it has two of each type of sword beams

If bandai release a mg version of xi and penolepe it will pg sized
It really would be, and they'd need to reinforce the parts with metal I bet

Nice, these kits will be harder and harder to find as time goes on. Hope you enjoy this odd little gem
Lol without the outer armor it looks like a larger strike.

Oh Katoki and his fixation to try an normalize what was never meant to be normal.
Not a job I envy getting
Well for Hi-Nu he rightly redesigned it from obnoxiously normal redesign back to nicely looking thick boy

Curious how this xi's and the official Bandai box arts look alike... Almost like Bandai ripped-off it
I wonder if it's because the descent pose is the one thing the Xi is known for doing
I hadn't noticed that myself but you're totally right, with even a cloudy background. It'd be pretty funny if Bandai copied from a third party
