The little wings on the feet can be rotated for the flight mode, and the back armor on the shoulder can open up a little. Totally missed those details, whoops...
I kinda get why this Gundam isn't designed for a lot of articulation. I think this is due to the nature of the combat design for the Xi. Its literally designed for aerial combat, like how you see jets do dogfights in the airspace. It was meant to fly around in high speeds while utilizing its main weapon, the funnel missiles.
Got mine today. Cannot wait to build it. I love Katoki's designs or in that matter UC designs in general. They look so symmetrical, angled, industrial and stylish at the same time. My Top 3 are: Zeta Gundam, Hi - Nu Gundam, Kusī Gundam (in a tie with Turn ∀ Gundam)
This kit is even nicer when you have the completed kit in hand because of how sturdy it is (especially compared to the Penelope which rattles quite a bit) The Turn A really is the same sort of odd-ball design with the Xi here and has a similar charm
Lmaoo that "your wife isn't gonna divorce you part" reminds me of those groups that always want to hide their purchases for some reason and or its just a giant meme
One thing to note about the XI Gundam! (I know I'm hella late-_-) However, I think I said this before. In every depiction of this guy, one thing is always the same! That head and V-fin! In every depiction it's always cool looking with it's face plate and wild V-fin! Especially the V-fin. I love the small face, big eyes, and wild V-fin. It always gave me a whole. Gentle giant you shouldn't mess with. And I love it!
The swept-back blade antenna along with the slope of the head has really been quite iconic(?) and not something we've seen on other MSes. I wonder if the big hands give it a less aggressive look (or maybe the lack of a crazy goose head sticking out helps too)
@@HobbyClubhouse Maybe yes to it all, I just love all of the XI varieties due to them all sharing a lot between each other. Example. THE HEAD!!!~ I also love the sideburns, something about Gundams having sideburns gets me.
i was gonna make a correction and say the blue xi we got from p much every media xi was in prior to the movie originally stemmed from the kazumi fujita's redesign of xi for the sd g gen games and future media it was gonna feature in. As for why katoki designed the movie xi to be faithful to the novel, theres a documentation from the gffmc penelope movie edition that says his designs were closely under supervision from Moriki himself.
The Katoki design isn't actually older. The one from the movie is much closer to the original line art from the novel from 1989 IIRC. They changed some of the proportions though.
It may be ugly... but damn I WOULD NOT want to be this things target! Also, now that you've mentioned the Gustav Karl(Who names these things?!), I remember hearing about it getting a "successor"(Read: Redesign) in the movie called the Double 0 type(Real Original. -_-). It seems to be closer to the original design whilst keeping some aspects from the Unicorn version, a sort of middle ground if you will. You think Bandai will make it a kit, or will I just need to make do with the Gihrens Greed version(Oh yeah, it's colour scheme is the same as the GG version too)?
Hm, I didn't know about that Double 0 Type, but it would help explain why the thing for so chonky... The Gihren's Greed version's color is actually what the Hathaway's Flash color had always been protested, so it's a weird bright blue I think if the Double 0 is a thing, I'd bet my bottom dollar they'll make a kit, so wait and see:)
I'm not really a fan of the stereotypical main character Gundam designs, you know with the V-fins, color schemes, protruding/redundant back extensions, you know just the usual blueprint but with plethora of various iterations, I get the appeal though. But this one just hits differently. It got me intrigued and gradually appreciated the design, it's obviously thick but the geometry and silhouette are conscientious, also exquisite but in a very niche manner since it doesn't give off that "blocky-toy-robot" stature which is prevalent in protagonists. The movie is also amazing, so I'm now seeing the Xi Gundam with more depth and appreciation of the design.
I just ordered the duo pack and my wife knows she can't stop me, well I always said to her I don't smoke and I rarely drink alcohol, I go home directly after work and she won't divorce me be she really loves me. I love the wierdness of this gundams it's so unique and I kinda love the original drawing ( not everyone's cup of thee), by the way it's a good video.
Thank you so much, and what a great wife you have:) The original designs really were unique and so alien -- which is why the HG Xi is nice for being much closer to those drawings
I have problems when build this. The chin and face plate are so small , it's really easy to lost if you drop it and my hand are kinda bid that why have problem when i build it
Ah, I know what you mean, especially when you drop pieces, they always manage to bounce and immediately disappear... the kit really does have a small face for being such a big boi
It's kind of a shame, really. You'd think a kit with hands this big... Bandai would be able to add movable fingers like on the older HGUC Dom kits... which were made in the EARLY 2000's.
I actually like this design too But I am more fond of the G-gen ,Ka design The design from the novel is slimmer than this, and I am more interested in that To be honest, it is a Zeroymer , 志雷馬😂😂😂😂👍
The novel and lots of SRW designs are from that forgotten late 80s and early 90s era of hyper-detailed robot designs that have gone away now. That's why I'm looking forward to the HG Cybaster so much:)
Man i'm so confused on the pronounciation for the Xi Gundam. Some call it See gundam. Some call it Psy gundam others call it shit gundam. And now we have Kushi gundam lol
If we go by real-world and common sense, it should be "Xai" since it's a greek-letter Gundam from Anaheim like Delta and Nu. "Xee" is definitely wrong unless it's a certain world leader "Kusii" ends up being its pronunciation because the Japanese are weird and decided to read it like that for this MS
