I must admit, I don't think starting from first movement is a super good idea. Waiting for like 6 seconds before starting time because you haven't started moving feels a bit unfair. I really think starting from gain control is the better option.
I do not see the problem at all. 1. The rules are the same for everyone, so it's not unfair. 2. Waiting to start the timer until moving doesn't save any time, since you can't press any buttons to rotate or move the sub without moving the camera (which counts as movement).
@Tod x Not sure if you're joking or not but Linux is an operating system like Windows, but entirely different and based on an entirely different code. The reason it's important in the contexts of Iron Lung is because the only way to make a tool assisted speedrun for Iron Lung is on Linux, since all PC games require simulated key presses/mouse movements, which Windows inherently does not allow.
How deeply do you know the game? I'm assuming that strats are still being developed, but one of my first Instincts is to drive to the very last photo spot, and save lots of time. Does anything like that work?
other people have tested that before and no, you have to get all other pictures. you can take them out of order, which can sort of break the game? but you wouldn't see that in a speedrun because pretty much every order is slower than the intended one.

@@paulsonger2513 i mean really the only significant timesave is just optimizing the already-existing strategies. iron lung is a very very simple game, so there's not really a lot to explore in terms of potential exploits.

That is true I guess, but I don't really know how to tell when the exact frame you gain control is, for frame-counting
