I, too, would love more ranty runs! Super happy you've made this channel as I love these types of videos. I will, of course, still be watching all your other videos, too. It was a pleasure joining you on your run. 😊
As a future friend, so glad you've made this channel, as I've said before you inspired me to get back into running in my 60s which has been so good for me mentally and physically. As for topics, anything on running for older people. I'm always open to anything that helps keep me injury-free. One thing I've learned, you need to increase the amount of strength training and the number of rest days.
Bring back the ranty run, find a few things to complain about! Run around Belfast and tell a few stories on your way. A north coast run from Portballintrae to Dunseverick (Ballintoy if you’ve got the fitness). Holywood to Bangor. Divis and Black Mountain. Showcase Northern Ireland.
Excellent! Love to see all the places you run and Glenariff is among the best. Wide angle for some of those big views. Topics: all things running; photography, tips for both
imho: as an American who runs vicariously through your videos, I love just seeing the landscape around you. There are thousands of running channels out there but the reason I keep coming back to yours is your wit and humor. So keep chatting, keep bringing us along, keep showing us the amazing places the world has to offer. We'll keep watching 🥰
I found the wide angle image good for the none verbal parts. One of the reasons i follow Stephen is because he isn't putting on an act & therefore can be both comical & serious in his videos. It what makes him, Andy from Kent Servival & Claire from Wild Bear stand out from the other outdoor channels.
I'm new to your main channel and really like it because of your personality and the beautiful scenery. So I think I'll enjoy these videos even more! I would really like to enjoy running myself, but I just don't, so im grateful that you're taking me along haha Topics I'd find interesting for you to chat about is knowledge about the landscape, memories you have about places, showing us plants that are edible or medicinal along the way and anything personal that you feel comfortable sharing.
Honestly think I could watch a video of your commentating on paint drying and still find it entertaining! TOPICS: It's been class following your videos for a few years but I'd love to see one video that was sort of a summary of your own running story - how you got started, what your goals were then, what kept you going, how your goals changed, what do you want to do in the future?
Love the running videos has got me out the door more times than enough. A great run for you would be ballycarton then up Binevenagh. Stunning scenery under the cliffs and not too far away
Yay! 👏 I need running inspiration as podcasts don’t always do it for me…can’t wait for these!! Topics: anything (trail) running related - how. You motivate yourself, what in bad weather, gear, how you decide for the routs, how often you run, what you like about running, how you got to running, what helps to adjust to trail running, techniques and so on and so on…anything you’ll talk about running or somehow related even if personal experience or more technical or about environment you go through I will watch!!
That I don’t edit the comment even more (I need to stop commenting after few minutes to the video 🙈) as Well i Find interesting when you talk about video production/non production actually I find that inspiring.
Love the content Stephen and appreciate the glorious scenery. I always enjoy your history/information/interesting facts while you run. A bit more of that? Glad there's a dedicated running channel. Keep up the good work.
I love how you share the places you go running. It gives me motivation and ideas of where to try new trails. And the ranty run too-we all need a good rant!
As an older runner at 57 I have completed 1 ultra 2 marathons and a 22 miler races this year ,the trick is stop worrying about pace and run for fun and yes we all need the motivation to run as life gets busy for me it’s the one point in the week that’s my time and the world can go hang sign up for a race keeps u going
Love ur trail running videos, u create a real fun feeling, I started out on a fitness drive this year and ur running content helped persuaded me to take up trail running initially for hiking fitness but have fallen in love with it, also managed to drop 35kg so far, the new channel is great (preferred wide camera setting)
I love that you are trying to recapture that passion and energy Steve. Really funny, great scenery and I enjoy your topics and simple edits. I don’t even think you need to talk running topics. Things that swing to mind: What is the meaning of life for you? Why do you think you’re here? What’s your purpose? Chemistry of running, endorphins and why is so addictive! What motivates you? Talk shoes! Zero drop, comfort, support and common running injuries Do you like Jeffing? Interval running/training? Fuelling the body in longer runs when you want to go further but don’t want to totally BONK 😅I hit a running BONK on a half marathon training run and it scared me! Running and getting older, how will you adapt (please don’t take offence! I’m 41 next week) 😊 That should give you enough to go on ha ha ATB, Sarah
Wow now those are the BIG questions! 😄 definitely feeling the age one, not far from 40 and very much in denial. To be honest the non-running questions interest me so much more. I kinda find talking about and listening to others talking about running kinda boring 🙈 it’s something you have to DO
A great video, thank you very much. Hope the channel does inspire you to run more. The wide angle views are good at the top with open views but I also really enjoyed shoe cam at the other end of the scale 😁. I'd be interested to hear more about kit and nutrition, thank you.
Try a breathing technique called Buteyko breathing or the oxygen advantage technique. It really helped me with asthma when running and haven’t used an inhaler for years now. Lapsed a bit in not doing exercises and can feel the wheezing again a bit in cold air but not anywhere as bad as I used to be. Main point I always try is breathing through my nose not my mouth during the day and when walking( can’t yet manage to do it running though but if you follow programme you should be able to do this) Nose breathing warms up the air a before it gets to lungs and stops more moisture escaping when breathing out so less dehydration. The theory is all about building up your body’s use of carbon dioxide tolerance as the heavier we breathe we can’t process the oxygen properly I think but read up about it -it may help
Okay, when you mentioned on the other channel about this one I thought it was a bad idea. But this video popped up on the right hand side in the list of suggestions to watch, so that's how I found it. But now that I see what you are doing, the simple no frills edit, I think it is great. I also like the idea that you will take me places that I haven't been to. I go to Laragh lodge quite often for lunch, then a wee dander to the waterfall. But I never park up in the top car park. I haven't been up round the top where you showed the "iconic view". But I will go there now. So thanks for that. Please do upload more running videos of interesting and obscure places and I will get more inspiration from them. I've got bad knees so can't run, but I can cycle so hopefully some of the places will suit the bike. But failing that, my wife and I will walk to some of the locations and I'll say to her "Steve inspired me to come here". She'll be impressed.😉
Something my belated dad said about running, it crippled his knees when he was older. That has put me off. I know roads aren't good. The Curragh of Kildare it might end up being.
Happy to be a future friend! Maybe share some trail running top stories. Firsts, most embarrassing, most triumphant, horror stories you've heard from other runners.
Looking forward to future running content. Not sure you need a topic. The natural sounds, your commentary about the area and the occasional "Hi Sheep" might be enough 👋 🐑🐑
I'm getting a bit bored running in my own neighbourhood. Yours looks nice....Perhaps I should just hop on an airplane and bop over from Nova Scotia. Seriously, (well, relatively) I have been thinking of dusting off the old action cam myself.
I find a break from running in the familiar places can refresh them. I've got completely bored with running Glenariff in the past when I ran there too much
Love the new channel! Have been a fan since early days - love love love the areas you run in and so appreciate seeing new places - but let's be honest... it's not Canada 😂🐻🌲Take your sister on more adventures, she's a hoot!! 😁 - MIchelle
I am familiar with your main channel. I used to only like hiking in the mountains, and you inspired me to start running (I used to run, but not more than 3 km) And I wanted to run in the mountains. I read a thick book of running training and watched many videos, bought an expensive sports watch... I am 43 years old. I have symptoms of chronic bronchitis. And after 6 months of training, I ran a half marathon. I hope to run a marathon and my first trail in the future... Running has become a relaxation and meditation for me. That's why I'm wondering how to prepare for the trail when you live on the plain. But I am surprised that you do not warn the audience about the need to train gradually so as not to harm yourself. Do you know nothing about training programs and just run as hard as you can? I don't believe in that.
Been using training plans for running for over 15years. Although less so these days. I run how I feel most of the time when I’m not training for an event.
Simple videos? Way above my standard but you motivated me to play with my camera. Love the tips although even my family aren't polite about my efforts. Stuff the running, kayaks and boats are much kinder on the knees. I presume you know to use your inhaler before you set off?
Fair play with the running. Ran for 5 minutes going to work, it killed me. Ex smoker and drinker, your channel might get me out running. We have the Curragh here I could try, flat ground full of sheep, not fenced off or hedges. We'll see.
Try jeffing a run walk method I use a 6 min run 1 min walk and go to parkrun you can walk it just sign up and get a bar code am an ex smoker now doing ultras at 31 miles
Do you have a screen on your cameras so that you can see what you have been recording as you go? Or is it a case of ‘hit and hope’ that you can at least have enough footage when you get to do the editing? I have noticed that many TH-cam creators talk to their audience but their eyes are looking at a screen next to the camera body, instead of looking into the lense and therefore they are not looking directly to the viewers.
Yeah there’s a tiny screen on the front of most action cameras these days. Also many other cameras have flip around screens. You have to train yourself to not look at it when recording. Very common with newer channels, but can be easy to do without realising. When I started I didn’t have that and I didn’t even have an auto focus lens so I had to preset manual focus on the lens I was using and hope I was in focus
I, too, would love more ranty runs! Super happy you've made this channel as I love these types of videos. I will, of course, still be watching all your other videos, too. It was a pleasure joining you on your run. 😊

Holywood to Bangor is such an underrated route to run!

They are still online on my main channel, just look for the running videos playlist
Re angle..depends on the view available. Tight places, standard, vistas..wide. PS I’m with you on cold weather affecting my limited asthma.

topic: wildlife sightings in during your runs
I used to be able to run that entire route in 50mins. Took me 80 🙈

running too much can seem to have downsides like that. Although it does actually strengthen bones and joints.
