My video about the blue green algae crisis on Lough Neagh ended up being my most watched video ever over on my main channel Stephen J Reid. Today I go for a run to see how the blue green algae has disappeared as we head towards winter. The problem is, it'll be back next year... Never ran a marathon but your story reminded me of someone I know, who spent several weeks fasting (as in, literally only water) and upon finishing, decided that the best way to celebrate would be a massive, greasy roast/barbecue. Ate multiple plates of it. Proceeded to be sick for several days. So, you're not alone 😊
🤢
Perfectly timed yep in the sweetcorn section
I'm only a minute into viewing, but I want you to know I really appreciated that leaf-kicking ASMR-esque scene.
that milk is rank!
Yes, yes it was! Had electrolytes in it

You were cold by 5°c while running? I am drench in sweat at 5°c jogging a 5k.
Duuude! That incident, brushing thighs with some poor dude who is shitting liquid at speed, splashing and all, him panicking and pulling up his daks "mid flow"... wow! Speechless! OMFG... and also amazing!!! 😂😅😂 Loved it!
It was about 10years ago now and still seared into my memory 😂
The worst experience was Edinburgh marathon big race ,so in pens took half hour to just get to the start and it was cold and raining hard so before you even set off you where damp and cold then at end had to catch bus back into Edinburgh then walk a mile or more to catch a tram not for me did it as a one off prefer smaller races no waiting about etc
That sounds miserable. One of the reason I prefer trail races, very little standing around. You can get to the start line 15min before.
Oh 3rd channel
Yup
Hi Stephen You seem to land on the outside of your feet a lot … could be hard on your joints.. Which of the born2run runs are you doing next..?
Yeah I overpronate, always have, nothing much I can do about it except to keep my ankles strong. I think Loughgall in January is my next one. Was supposed to have been running Tollymore last Sat but was sick
@ 👍🏻 yeah the Tollymore run was great.. petty of hills 🫣 but the scenery made up for it…
I should not have watched this on lunch.
No you should not 😂
Nah. I probably wouldn’t visit a poisoned lake. Thanks for your upload though 😅
Omg,split my sides( frightened the dog),talk about dropping the kids off.
Kids weren’t dropped off so much as spread around a large radius 😂🙈
Child abuse!
2 ultra races on the road, Two Oceans in Cape Town 56k and Comrades in Durban 90k. Still going strong and will turn 70 next year.
That’s amazing! What’s your secret?
@ this will be my 9th Two Oceans have done comrades 3 times and 2 100k races. I didn’t start running till I was 55 I live in Zimbabwe so train in the heat and altitude. I am just a steady everyday runner.
I have to have some sympathy for the chap with explosive diarrhoea, I did the Milton Keynes marathon a few years back and decided to use some (new to me) protein works drinkable oats for breakfast. I spent the entire 26.2 miles surviving from portaloo to portaloo (every 3 miles) with an extra stop at a pub in between about half way through. I pooped out every scrap of energy I had by the last 6 miles and had to walk the last 6 miles in agony from my poor scoured guts. Even worse there was a girl running it who made it her life's mission to try and beat me at every event I went to, that she was at, I went to the race confident I'd beat her easily, I'd been running ultras regularly so a marathon was a training run, she overtook me about 23 miles in 😭😭😭 don't know which was worse, the diarrhoea or getting beat by her 🤣
😂 that sounds brutal, double whammy
I'm here for the click bait thumbnail. 😊The thought of running is a bit 😮 to me. That poop tho. Bleurghh. Hope your strain heals fast 💪
It’s not clickbait if it’s true 😜
Those trees over the road 😮 I’d be worried to go under 😅 well this was ehm…disgusting 😂 but it is I guess as well something people don’t talk about and they all are so possible to happen haha my only badish experience so far was that I feel sick past few km from gel I took in the race station while doing half marathon…but I did manage not to vomit a finished it, last kilometres though were about trying to keep it down…I guess if continuing with this it’s inevitable something worse might happen.
Just gotta accept the inevitable
Thank you for sharing? Merry Christmas😂
A workmates sister was being supported by her family and ran up to a relatives child holding a sign with her name on near the finish line, she then threw up over the childs head.
😂😂😂😂😂 this is amazing, near spat out my tea
Seaford marathon in the South Downs . Very misty day and very low visibility. Followed the runners ahead of me up the very steep first climb. After 30 minutes of running we ended up back at the start !! 😂 About 35 of us had got lost in the mist !!! I got in the car and drove home and binned the day 😂
😂that’s hilarious. Reminds me of a 4 mile mountain race loads of runners got lost during (including myself). Everyone eventually made it to the finish line and we all were wearing GPS trackers and got a laugh when they overlaid all the tracks afterwards, all over the place. One guy ran a 4mile accidental detour
Marathon in 30 minutes! No human is limited, indeed!
@@AckerQ.sadly we had turned right instead of left on the downs so ended having run about 3.5 miles without getting anywhere😂
@@michaelbennett6778, you were so fast that you bent the time-space continuum! I’d stick with this option :))
My first ever 5k a few years ago (in public) hit a dog turd with my heel and did the splits like an olympic gymnast…. Only I cant do the splits in real life 🥵
Oh whoops, best you were feeling that for a few days afterwards. Maybe smelling it too 😬
@ 🤣 all good! It was one of those split second ‘Miranda’ moments where I made a complete arse out of myself, styled it out with a laugh of hilarity and a hair swoosh like the giant buffoon I am, and the only hurt would have been my pride only I fear at my age thats long gone 🙏🏻
😂 Excellent
My first thought at the title was that it was going to involve explosive squits 🫣 at least they weren’t yours! Poor guy! My answer to everything is ginger beer and Aldi coconut water 😋 Fizzy ginger and a good burp for the 🤢 And coconut for the dehydrated and flu ridden 👌 A few years ago I started half filling a bottle of juice in the freezer and taking it out a little while, adding some more juice and shaking it into a slushy, into insulated flask and you have a litre of slushy for the next 6-10 hours. Nothing better halfway up a summer mountain for heat flakes like me that melt past 18 degrees 😅 Sadly no good race stories from me though have friends that have had had the sudden urgencies at the worst parts of a race…
Good tips! Although I’ve mixed feelings about coconut water, sometimes it has lumps
@ ahh yes I’m not a fan of that either, the Aldi bit is specific as it half the price of most at £1.99 and tastes better than the fancy smoothy brand types haha
Were all those trees knocked down in storm Darragh?
No they were harvested earlier in the year. Although prob some blown down too
You should do the Spartan Race in flathead lake Montana, definitely bucket list material there
I’ve never actually done an obstacle or mud race before.
@runwithstevetoday one of your hiking videos was a mud obstacle race lol
That is very true. I like my chaos to be unorganised 😂
video to make you boke from the camera shake....I'm out.
🤮
First video review I watched from you, and it was informative, and your honesty is welcomed. I just subscribed. Nice work.
Thanks! 🙂
Wow, what a treat 80 yo ex runner absolutely hooked on both channels.. Thanks for this chrissy present which is bringing me such joy ❤😂
Ps Appreciate camera tips along your way 🎉🎉🎉 Roll on 2025 & Congrats on hitting 100k subs on other channel ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!

Quack?

I don't think I've seen anybody outside of a military outfit wearing more equipment to go for a run! All you need is the sunglasses and you've got a full house! :P (Said with love/in jest - I look like the Blackpool illuminations when I go running in the evenings in fairness!) P.S. sorry about your injury bud.
😂 you need to watch some trail races, I didn’t even have poles, snacks, gloves, buff, emergency bivvi, drone, 360 camera, tripod, compass or map with me. Felt practically naked.
Love this shoe, can use for literally everything. Nova 5 also v v good.
Trail shoe recommendation? 😊
I think I’ll make a video about this. Trail shoes are complicated
@@runwithstevetoday sounds good! :)
the EK colourway made me 1.07% more efficient yesterday. I could sense the Black Swan colour would only reach 0.83% due to my long/latitude in relation to clouds on a 23-degree NZ summer day. Happiness is a lighter wallet.
I knew I should have returned them and got the other colour way!
Stephen you hit the nail on the head… Marketing. Nike are masters of marketing.
To answer which way were you running, I presume you were running to the ministry of silly walks!
🤣 was the exact same shot both times just once is in reverse
I want to try and add running into my routine. But I have a torn PCL and after running for like a couple of weeks it feels like my knee is going to drop off. I have never had any actual running shoes just basic trainers. Would some thing like this help or should I just stick to a cross trainer and walking.
hmmm it might help a bit due to the cushioning. but you'd still need to be careful
5:54 I would seriously consider getting any groin injury checked out, especially if it is still causing me trouble after 3 weeks.
it's not consistent, I just keep forgetting about it and then doing something daft which sets it off again. 2 steps forward step back. also since hurt my achilles doing something daft too 🙈
Very tempted to get these now that they’re on sale for $125. Nike seems like they’re trying to sink their teeth to recapture some market in hopes of repeat purchases or regaining some loyalty. It seems the recent batch of Nike shoes have people pretty happy with the Zoomfly 6 and Peg plus- and both seem to be available on discount. I’m planning on racing this spring in the alphafly 3s so this seems like a good training companion. Great video!
thanks. I've always enjoyed running in nike shoes, they get flak from some for various reasons, but they make nice shoes.
You should give it a try, for that price it's a steal. Bought 2 pairs boring black and Ekiden😊
No thanks, roads are for cycling on. What I need is trail shoes with more grip than an army tank.
hmmm shoes with tank tracks would be novel
Hope they work better than they look!
they feel great, still not happy with the colour
Odd how you took a picture of the view you like .. even odder to say this but if you have always liked that view and how it changes then at same path of walking this all the time you just now find a tent seems a bit odd .. would make me think you axed some off and wanted to show the tent ... Well I hope cause god is watching ... Over all it could be a homeless person and if you do clean out the tent then you will leave the homeless person with nothing .... It just seemed odd you would wanna clean that tent out are you wanting to throw away things you that you want gone after what ya did .... Yes I have doubt cause ya seem shady and seeing a tent so far off in the distance seems odd if ya ask me ... If it smelled bad then why not report it before going threw what could be evidence ... Seems odd to take it upon ur self to clean it out ... Even still I wasn't raised like most people my dad was a vet and I was always taught to watch listen learn the most obvious when people talk .. just don't sit well with me after you just finding a tent on a trail you walk alot and wanting to clean it is there a reason why ???? I never seen the tent in video until you got closer so how did ya know it was there ???? Seems odd to me .. even still did ya ever go back and not make a video of cleaning it out since you was so willing to wanna clean it out ... Seems shady like one plus one isn't adding up ...😢😢😢😢
Ill trust anyone who wants to kick leaves.😊
It’s a great View
What a great atmosphere. Thank you.
Bikers and motorized bikers bring in a lot more money into the local economy
Hope you have the what three words app on your phone in case you get hurt Keep up the good videos
Yes I do
I love the scenery ❤ what a beautiful view
Maybe you should mind your own business"nosy little......
Is this the steyning bike trails?
The what? I’m guessing not then. This was tardree
Pentlands Skyline race this year was pretty rough, but that's mostly because I went far too hard on the first few hills
Always a regret
