How to Install An Above Ground Pool // Intex

  • In this video I walk you through how to quickly and easily install an above ground pool, specifically, the Intex brand. This pool is 15' in diameter and 42" high but the principles are applicable to other models. We set this pool up last year at the beginning of the pandemic and it was truly one of the best investments ever. Since the neighborhood pool is opening back up, we weren't sure if we would set this one up again but because it was so easy, we went ahead and did it. I know we will be enjoying this pool all summer long!

    Consider a sand filter. It's worth the price, even an inflated price on a third party seller website. No more chemicals other than chlorine and no more cleaning and purchasing paper filters. Your water should be crystal clear all summer long. You'd need a 10" one for that pool.

    Wait till you have a leak in the pool. We had a 12' for 4-5 years. No problems. Got the 15' and third year around I sprung two holes in the same area. Thankfully some under water duct tape saved me till we can drain it in august and then do a proper patch. Patching sucks under water. Adhesive binds instantly. Gave it a shot 4 times. Invest in snorkel and mask.

    We have had Intex pools for years. Due to a winter leak we just replaced our 16' round pool with a new one that has the same new type of outlet as the one that you have in this video. We have learned to always upgrade the filter, but when we connected it to this newer type of fitting, the fitting split! So, we purchased an Intex air water jet replacement part kit. However it will not work unless we cut a larger hole in the pool! If you agree that it is a good idea to upgrade the filter, how did you accomplish this?

    • @RLLWoodworks
      @RLLWoodworks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow I’m sorry! I didn’t upgrade my pump but that’s the first time I’ve heard of one breaking the fitting. I wonder if you could take it to the plumbing section of the hardware store and see if they have an adapter that would work.

    • @RLLWoodworks
      @RLLWoodworks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My brother has the same pool and just laid the tarp down like you said and the grass quickly died of course. So if you trust that their aren’t any rocks or clay that might be uncomfortable, I think it would work. The thick felt pad I used would be a nice added layer as well.

    I dont understand how to setup the filter or pump 😅 can you explain?

    • @RLLWoodworks
      @RLLWoodworks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The main thing is to make sure the intake is under water and then the filter has a screw valve at the top that you twist to let the air out and then tighten it when water starts coming out. Then make sure the output tube is connected so the water goes back in the pool and plug in the pump and it should work!

    One thing that is not mentioned as I found out anything over 24 inches will most likely require a pool permit from your town or municipality then you will need to have a dedicated electrical line installed and electrically inspected from an approved list from your town or municipality, and finally reinspection from the town this meaning the pool will also require a fence that surrounds the pool at least 48 inches tall , a self closing gate that can be locked when not in use as well as a approved ladder and pool alarm system.... this has to be with in your property set backs from the building dept!!! And yes this includes those WAL-MART so called temporary Intex pools ..... so good luck to you!!!

    • @RLLWoodworks
      @RLLWoodworks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s a great question! I actually use weed and grass killer up against it and then use a weed whacked to get what the mower can’t. Hope this helps!

    • @RLLWoodworks
      @RLLWoodworks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I have knicked it a few times but luckily it was strong enough. Basically just go slow! Also making the underlayment slightly larger than the pool so the grass isn’t growing right up to where the liner meets the group was helpful.
