I’ve watched so many of these videos over the pass few days trying to make sure that when I level out my yard for the pool that it will be perfect. And I can honestly say that your video has been the first that made it look easier because of the extra tips you used to do it. I feel more confident now going forward!
When they are ready for an upgrade, my husband and I impressed with our intex 16x32 sand pump with saltwater generator. We leave it up year round in the upper wet west corner of Washington State. We used foam board insulation under ours. built a platform on one end for jumping and getting in and out. Danya
Add a ladder that goes inside over and out of the pool for make it easier to enter and exit the pool. Otherwise you will find the ledge where the kiddo's enter and exit the pool will break down over time and use. Otherwise excellent job dad and mom.
When I first saw were the pool was going i was concerned about it being so close to the garden , i glad you put a drainage system for the spillage, and it was so cute how you surprised the kids ! 😊👍💕💕💕
Did almost the exact same thing at my ex and I's back yard. Ours was on a slope, so it was a retaining wall on the downhill side. I put in pavers as a base, so we could put a little fire pit and some chairs on it during the off season.
We did something similar. We used quarry sand, it was much cheaper then the brown river sand or bagged sand. The chemicals used in most pools really messed up my kids hair last year. We got an ionizer from Amazon. Much nicer on the kids hair and doesn’t turn my blonde child’s hair green.
do you have a video on how you took it down? that's the part im confused about... do you relevel every year? do you keep all the sand and rocks there? how did it do over the winter?
Good job but I could NEVER put that amount of work into setting up for a $150 pool. Oh boy that's next level OCD. My wife sees these videos and thinks I magically have the knowledge, skillset, and TOOLS to accomplish this.
Haha!! But it doesn’t take a ton of tools. Shovel , cheap level string and sand (sooo cheap we got like 15 bags for nothing at Lowe’s) we also used foam board , the only tool you prob need (maybe not if you have a nice shape life) if a zigzag saw my husband had one for years it made cutting seamless. Its nice to test run the pool (which are not 150$ it’s 300$ for the index we got 12x30) to see if we actually want to do a real above ground one when our kids get bigger. But I hear ya I do that to my hubs sometimes too. Some guys just don’t have it like others.
How in the world do you have time to build your house plus do all of this other stuff?! Wow. I hope your kids look back and appreciate all of this some day. I know they will because they will be good people just like you two.
How did you do the electrical hook up? It looks like you have it plugged into an extension cord. Are you planning on doing something more permanent like an outlet by the pool in the future? Or is this such a small setup it's not necessary. I want to put a pool in myself but everything I read told me I need to have a dedicated plug by the pool and I'd have to get one installed. I like to know your thoughts.
JUST FOR THE KIDS PROTECTION, you are pretty good doing electrical work. here in new york, a above ground pool, needs to be grounded. ever post on the pool needs to be connected with a #8 ground wire, than from the post, to the filter motor. this is done so there is no difference between each one in case they are touched at the same time, to avoid a shock. than the motor needs a ground to a ground rod at least 10 foot long, driven into the dirt. just thought i would tell you, because i don't know what the laws there are
Hello! I am in the process of installing an above ground pool and am considering using similar gym mats as a protective barrier. I was wondering if the gym mats have held up. Have you had any issue, are you happy with them? Thanks for the excellent video!
How is the foam holding up? I would be worried about it getting wet from the pool water and or rain and then trying to mildew or just break up? if its holding up what kind of foam is it? Thanks.
Hello, awesome video! I used your video to install the same 12x30 in my backyard this past week and it turned out great. I’m just curious, could you provide brand and model detail on the sand pump you up graded to? Did you need any adapters or were you able to tap it into the 1.25 fittings properly out the box? Any insight would be much appreciated as I think we’re going to upgrade to a sand filter as well.
NUMBER ONE RULE SHOULD BE NO Diving into the pool... Many children were injured for Life and cant walk....... Congrats to the children and have fun on those hot days ;-)
I just put this pool up and I found it odd how the poles didn't latch or have little plugs or anything. They just go into the plastic elbow connector things. My pool is up and filled but I'm worried I did something terribly wrong because my last pool had things like that.
Could you please give more info on how you created the drain? I need to do the same thing, but having a hard time knowing where to start, what to use, etc. Google searches keep bringing me to big, extravagant jobs way beyond my needs (& skill level). Appreciate any insights on a simple drainage setup!
Yes, just dug out a run and put some drain tile in, covered it and used some rock to hide the opening at the pool. Since it's for something like this not too concerned with perfection just make sure it runs downhill!
Great video and great job! Words to live by: "When I do a project, I like to do it the best that I can." Quick question as I will be setting up the 10' version of this Intex pool... Even with the sand pump, chlorine is necessary, yes? Thank you.
Does anyone find that their intex pool legs are coming inward ever so slightly with time even though the legs were moved even continuously while the pool was filling?
Sir, you don’t take above ground pools down in the winter. You just pull the pump out and store it where it’s warm and pull the ladder out. Leave the water in the pool that does not come out the inlets it will not hurt the pool one bit and acts as a paper weight for those winter breezes. If you take your pool down every year you will ruin it. Above ground pools only have an average life of 7 years anyway. If you keep taking it down every year you could shorten that life. Above ground pools use plastics and sometimes plastic rivets that become brittle. This is normal and usually causes no problem if you leave the pool be. You start removing them every year they will break. Yes it may be possible to order more but above ground pools once up are better left alone. There may be a little green water clean up before adding new water for the start of the pool season but it’s a small price to pay to prolong the life of the pool.
@@drewsahlstrom Note to self: "If the ground is 2-3" out of level make sure you spend a day leveling the ground before building above ground pool." This is obviously not my expertise as I have only owned in ground pools....

I like the level of detail that you put in all your projects.
That's hard work but it's worthwhile . That's another job well done . Many happy memories will be made. The drain is a great idea well done
I agree with your Investment in a larger pump system, I am glad we did it on our pool too.
It definitely was nice to have!
The kids were really happy when they watched the pool box. 😂 😊💪💪💪

Excellent job still watching from the UK
Whey to go Paul, that's what being a dad is all about
I just bought my pool and I thank you for your video..
Thanks for watching!
Kids so happy best dad ever
If I were you I’d invest in a pool ladder. The kids climbing over the sides is asking for trouble.
do you have a video on how you took it down? that's the part im confused about... do you relevel every year? do you keep all the sand and rocks there? how did it do over the winter?
It looked like you and Emily put the pool together and the kids were supervising :)
Good work and lovely family ❤
The kids had the approved correct response to the pool box reveal; Totally what I would do.
best dad ever!
Good choice on the filter
Thank you for sharing 💯🥰
How do they get in and out of the pool. i dont see a ladder.
Nice job. I will be thinking about all your tips.
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful install!
Thank you!
Excellent parents = happy kids!
Wow so neat! Good video man
Thank you appreciate it!
With your skills..I think you can build a nice real pool..may be in the near future. I always amazed by your commitment to perfection.🙏🙏🙏
Great looking installation!
Funny thing is that we just bought the exact same pool! 🤣 Should have it up and running next week. 🙂

It doesn’t matter how much it cost, it is how you enjoy it. They did an excellent job and that $150 they will enjoy for a long time
Good job brother! I just ordered one. I know it's gonna be a pain leveling the ground! Omg
Awesome! Yes the leveling is a big job
Wow that's an amazing job!
Thank you! The kids really loved it!
The yoga mats were an excellent idea

My neighbors have one of these pools. They actually build a small deck around it with steps going up to the deck.
saved my life bro 🙏
Glad we could help!
Thanks for a great video! May I ask if you have a heater?

May i ask why did you use sand under the mats and not leave just dirt?
C'mon, admit it, you and Emily will jump in that pool too when the temperatures soar this summer. Haha! (I would!)
Good job looks great
Thank you!
What about the power? Did you use an extension cable? Run it underground?
Just above ground extension cord
What bit size did you use for the drill?
Hello! I am in the process of installing an above ground pool and am considering using similar gym mats as a protective barrier. I was wondering if the gym mats have held up. Have you had any issue, are you happy with them? Thanks for the excellent video!
They did good! We had it set up for a couple of years and took it down because it’s too small for the family
You do good work
Aren't you smart! For using the foam tiles!!! Thank you! I would've never thought of this.
Thanks for watching!
Is make a flat surface with concrete a bad idea for this type of project
No that would work--just more expensive!
You'd probably still want some sort of padding to protect the pool.
How is the foam holding up? I would be worried about it getting wet from the pool water and or rain and then trying to mildew or just break up? if its holding up what kind of foam is it? Thanks.
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
How did the gym mat idea work?
Worked really well. Still in tact after winter so plan to use it again
How many mat do you used??
That’s great !!!!
Nice job :)
Thank you!
Yeah but how many bags of sand did you use?

Im also interested. Did the pads work?
Does anyone find that their intex pool legs are coming inward ever so slightly with time even though the legs were moved even continuously while the pool was filling?
We haven't had much of an issue... the mats and sand underneath help stabilize it significantly
where did you buy your filter?
Here is the one we got! amzn.to/3QrgoYW
whats the brand of the sand filter u bought
Here's the details mrpostframe.com/swimming-our-way-through-summer-break/

Normally yes, but this pool isn’t meant to be left up.
I'm guessing that pool safety fences are not required in your area.. Having such a low entry point, I'd fence this off from the kids.
👍👍
Anyone else unable to get notifications? I'm trying to figure out my issue.
Niceee
Do you hire out LOL

Well... its kind of a pool...
When you have toddlers it's all the pool you need.
It's also nice just to lounge around on a raft!

I hope you know that chemicals will kill your lawn.
Freakanomics... Is it safer to send your kids to a house with a pool or a house that has a handgun? (hint- choose the handgun!)
You know water is self leveling right? This is over kill squared.... no cubed

Yeah, my sister-in-law learned that one the hard way. The leaning tower of Pisa
If the bottom is not perfectly level your pool will be way off. Even an inch or 2 makes a big difference. trust me!
Great job guys, 👏👍 give the kids a great surprise. Great parents. Add a ladder 🪜 and you are completely done.
Thanks for watching! We definitely need a little dock for them to jump off!
