  • When I got this, it had been stored for a long time so the fuel system was a mess. I always go straight for the carb when I get an older 2 stroke and it usually pays off.

My old trimmer was that color BUT had a carb with a throttle plate in it. My blower has THAT type carb that the throttle moves up and down like a motorcycle carb slide and you have to drill out the brass center to get to the adjusting screw, a SMALL one. You said you wanted one of those carbs and now you got that old one to mess with. Stal cool, Pal!

Slide carbs always remind me of my youth, trying to get the most out of an old Kawasaki triple with 3 carbs that never all worked right at the same time.

@@GuysPlayingWithTools Ex brother-in-law had a 750 Triumph. I cinked the carbs for him and he said it ran the best it ever ran till he wrecked it. Glad it wasn't me. The old Tillotson on the hog was what I needed.

Great fix Bill, love it when a plan comes together. P.S. any luck with a cable option for my Murray? (no pressure, just curious). Have a great week.

I have dug high and low for the correct cable and found nothing. it looks like one of those where you are going to have to find something close and modify its brains out to make it work. I have been putting off answering because I am usually really good at digging up parts and hate saying I can't find something. 😒

@@GuysPlayingWithTools Well I appreciate your trying. I have looked high and low as well but that particular mower must have been a VERY low production model and replacement parts are non existent. The cable on it is working (it is very frayed so I am sure it will break soon). I am loaning the "customer" another mower in the interim so at this point it is not urgent. I might have to McGyver a cable to make it work. Have a great week.

@larryz24 While I was looking around, as near as I could tell, it went out of production in 2012, and it was never popular. Using your imagination to make a new cable might be the best answer.
I would bet it's worth something for parts, but you would need to find the other 2 that still exist, lol
I got an old Kubota with chrome bars running yesterday, I treated it like a glass spider because I knew there weren't any spare parts for it.

The most common problem that causes a motor to not rev high is either an adjustment to the 'H' screw which controls high speed fuel flow in the carb or, If it's an Echo, it's usually going to be a worn fuel gasket not pumping enough fuel. That means a quick rebuild on the carb(If you check my weedeater playlist, I have taken quite a few apart along the way👍). A clogged spark arrestor screen on the muffler can also cause the motor to not rev but it usually won't idle either.
I know, a lot of answers but without hearing it myself I have to cover all the bases. 🙂
